From The Long’ s Team Greetings from all of us at Long’s Jewelers!

2021 has been an extraordinary year with ups and downs that now feel like the new way of life. We hope that you and yours have stayed safe!

It has been our greatest joy to see the return of so many joyful events this year, from weddings to anniversary parties, family reunions, and so much more. Our role in our communities is to help New Englanders celebrate their lives! Each and every day, we are fortunate to share in so many unique celebrations and occasions. We love hearing about how meaningful a gift from Long’s can be, and the stories this past year have touched our hearts more than ever. Thank you for sharing these moments with us, and we look forward to new chapters to come. This year has also seen milestone achievements for Long’s, especially with the opening of our Rolex Boutique at 8 Newbury Street in Boston. Our goal for that store was to design a space and deliver an experience different from any other store in the world. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Rolex Boutique, we invite you to do so and celebrate with us. We have also renovated our Burlington and Peabody locations, and we have more plans in the works to keep Long’s walking the line between both our long-standing traditions and our desire to innovate for generations to come. Our website continues to evolve, our e-commerce business is a rocket ship, and the Long’s team is the largest and best it has ever been. We remain ready to serve you any way you choose, from a traditional store visit to a remote digital experience that still feels distinctly like Long’s. We are proud to offer you this book with great stories about our customers and about the artists who design and build the most beautiful jewelry and timepieces in the world. We hope you enjoy it, and we hope that we have the opportunity to be your jeweler again soon. As always, we remain committed to keeping you safe in our stores and offer only the best standards of quality, service, and value. We wish you nothing but the best, and we can’t wait to see you or hear from you again.

With gratitude, Your friends at Long’ s Jewelers

COLOR IS EVERYWHERE! THE BEAUTY OF BEING HUMAN IS HOW WE GET TO EMBRACE ALL THE WAYS COLOR INSPIRES, MOVES, AND DARES US TO BE BOLD--TO BE DIFFERENT FROM ONE ANOTHER, YET A PART OF THE COLLECTIVE. WHEN WE CELEBRATE WITH COLOR, WE CELEBRATE HUMANITY AND TRULY OPEN OURSELVES TO LIFE AND LIVING WITH PRIDE!

We’re all looking for opportunities to connect and express ourselves in bold, exciting new ways. New and colorful jewelry designs have allowed many of us to do just that. We’ve seen our customers adorning themselves with bright yellow and pink hues, while others took the tranquil approach, accenting their wardrobes and styles with blue and green shades. Others are wearing

adventurous oranges, deep reds, and forest greens. No matter where you look, color is sure to find you! Here at Long’s, we’ve been cherishing every one of life’s precious moments and helping you accentuate your own self- expression through color. Every person that walks through our door is as unique as the last, and we’re proud to showcase jewelry

that’s just as distinctive and spirited. We’re highlighting the colors of the rainbow and throwing in symbolism and lore to remind you just how important color is in our world and how dull life would be without it!

Indigo Indigo is the beautiful blend of blue and violet. The color of integrity and intuition, indigo exudes knowledge yet a little bit of drama. With symbolism rooted in spirituality, wisdom, devotion, dignity, and creativity, indigo can help induce a deeper, concentrated mindset. In high- fashion jewelry, indigo appears as sapphires, tanzanite, and amethysts.

Violet Violet is an elite status color, historically reserved for royalty. Associated with wealth, power, and influence, violet gives garments a luxurious yet compassionate appeal. It affects internal motivation, inspiration, and balance. Exuding reflection and self-awareness, you’ll find violet in sapphires, amethysts, and diamonds.

Green Green is a perennial favorite that has come to represent Mother Earth herself. It is the color of ecology and the environment, spring, regeneration, and fertility. It’s a lucky color to the Irish and many other cultures, representing renewal and energy. There are more shades of green than any other color, from the lime green of peridot to the deep rich garden green of emerald.

Orange Orange is a vivid, bracing hue. Cheerful and optimistic, wearing orange alludes to an energetic, spontaneous, and dynamic personality. Looking to tap into the creativity gene? Orange is great for stimulating the mind and can inspire you to take more risks. Orange represents vitality, warmth, cheer, and adventure and appears in jewelry designs as citrines, sapphires, and opals.

Blue Blue is cooling, soothing and is associated with wisdom and clarity. Soft blues calm the mind and aid concentration. Dark blue implies trust, dignity, intelligence, and authority. Bright blue signifies strength, dependability, and coolness. People everywhere are drawn to the blue sapphire, yet blue hues also grace gemstones like topaz, opal, and aquamarine.

Yellow Yellow is the most luminous of all the colors in the spectrum, and it manages to capture our attention more than any other – the human eye processes yellow first. Embellishments of all kinds highlight yellow sapphires, Canary yellow fancy diamonds, and even yellow garnets.

Red Red is the color of love. It radiates passion and vitality. Two magical elements are associated with red: fire and blood, which represent warmth and life itself. It is the color of intensity, appetite, and adventure. It’s an attention- grabbing tone, synonymous with gemstones like ruby, topaz, and garnet.

loyal, often sticking by their people through the hardest times with just the right amount of stability and emotional connection. Air — Rational. Social. Communicative. That’s what you’ll find in Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius. These individuals love philosophical discussions, good books, and social interactions. They love giving advice and nurturing every relationship they have with others. PHILANTHROPY Some jewelry pieces have a deep and rich history in philanthropic ventures. At Long’s, we actively seek out designers and organizations that we can work with, comfortably knowing that their business practices align with ours. Kalahari Dream Diamonds reflect both the beauty of the Kalahari desert and the story of responsible sourcing, all the while giving back to the communities of Southern Africa. Whether you’re looking for a stunning new diamond necklace or a pair of diamond studs, each Kalahari diamond is hand-selected and polished to exacting standards in socially responsible factories before being accepted as a special, Kalahari Dream Diamond and certified by the Gemological Institute of America or the American Gem Society. With each purchase of a Kalahari diamond, you support the empowerment of the next generation of women through job training and free primary education in Botswana.

For thousands of years, jewelry has been used to exemplify wealth, culture, personal beliefs, time periods and ideas. While a lot of the symbolism assigned to a piece depends on the design, metals, and stones used, jewelry remains the universal language of love, loyalty, and self- expression. ASTROLOGY ZODIAC SIGNS We each have a zodiac sign--an astrological connection to the universe and how we move, shift, feel and interact with the world around us. By understanding the four elements that represent each sign, we get a basic understanding of each person’s fears, strengths, weaknesses, and personality. Water — Mysterious. Emotional. Intimate. These are just some of the characteristics of the Water Signs of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Water Sign individuals love deep conversations and are usually ultra- sensitive and intuitive. Fire — Passionate. Dynamic.Adventurous.All the things that we love about Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Quick to anger, these individuals forgive just as quickly. Often possessing strength, Fire Signs tend to inspire others in an effortless fashion. Earth — Grounded. Realistic. Loyal. Earth Signs are the Capricorns, Virgos, and Tauruses that make us feel grounded. They are extremely

SPIRITUALITY & HEALING Spirituality plays an important role in defining a meaningful life. In jewelry, spirituality often takes the form of certain pendants or even pieces that marry science and art, such as those from the Temple St. Clair collection. One such jewelry piece is the Astrid Convert ring that aligns the planets with a quote from Dante’s Divine comedy. For healing and guidance, the feather reappears as this symbol. Often associated with ascension and heaven, a gold and diamond feather pendant is the perfect piece of jewelry to adorn. A feather in your path has also been closely associated with a message from a loved one on the other side. Though there are many gemstones that can guide you, only one conceals the power to help you through all of life’s turmoils. The labradorite contains mystical energy and holds a rich history in urban legends. Believed to be the Stone of Transformation and the Stone of Courage, the labradorite mimics the aurora of the Northern lights. Many people use labradorite as a mood booster and a daily reminder to remain grounded in the world around them.

NATURAL WORLD SYMBOLISM If you love the symbolism associated with the natural world, then our Prehistoric Works collection is a must-see. You’ll find everything from the honey bee - representing the queen woman - to the Hamsa hand which clears your path of any negativity. Sometimes, you might be looking for a little more trust, strength, and wisdom in your life, which is what you’ll find while adorning the Prehistoric Works feather charm. Or perhaps you know someone with a warrior’s heart that deserves the spearhead charm for strength from the gods. Just don’t forget the protective shield of the turquoise charm. 7) 14K Yellow Gold Open Long Cable Chain by Long’s Jewelers 8) 14K Yellow Gold Feather Pendant with Diamonds by Long’s Jewelers 9) Sterling Silver and 24K Yellow Gold Turquoise Charm by Prehistoric Works 10) Sterling Silver and 24K Yellow Gold Spearhead Charm by Prehistoric Works 11) Sterling Silver and 24K Yellow Gold Feather & Diamond Charm by Prehistoric Works

DEFINING Your Style

LONG’S JEWELERS TEAMS UP WITH AUTHOR AND STYLIST GRETTA MONAHAN TO ANSWER SOME OF YOUR MOST PRESSING QUESTIONS ABOUT JEWELRY TRENDS.

What is your favorite piece of jewelry you own or wear every day? My favorite piece of jewelry that I wear every day is my wedding ring! What advice do you have for people when mixing metals? I say go for it! Do not be afraid. A lot of the fashion rules we continue to follow don’t really apply anymore. Wear white before Memorial Day! Mix red and pink! Getting dressed and putting on jewelry should be fun and expressive. If it feels right to you and you like the way it looks, then that’s all that matters. How can you add layers or stacks without looking like you’re trying too hard? Follow the sage advice of Coco Chanel, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” I would also add to that the rules of thirds, which declares that odd numbers are more pleasing to the eye than even numbers. So if you have four necklaces stacked, just choose three.

You’ve probably seen her on The View and The Rachel Ray Show . Or you might have been to her high-end boutique in the Boston area. Better yet, you’ve probably booked a facial and massage at her award-winning salon and spa. No matter where you’ve encountered her, one thing’s for certain: Gretta Monahan has become a go-to for celebrity styling and has established herself as an authority women rely on to inspire their everyday style. As the Founder and CEO of Gretta Enterprises, Monahan is well-respected throughout Boston and beyond. So, it was our honor to sit down with her to discuss trends, jewelry, and more!

As a well-known fashion and beauty expert, why do you think jewelry is an important part of fashion? Having a unique collection of jewelry is integral to building a personal aesthetic. It’s the toolkit you dip into to elevate an outfit from every day to “wow”! It’s the finishing touch: the pieces that make any ensemble something that is distinctly you. Which fashion trends are you predicting for 2022? I see people wearing big, bold, statement pieces. I think after what has been a really hard time for most of us, everyone is ready to embrace

some sparkle. And we’re tired of being subtle. We want to go big! What is a staple piece of jewelry that everyone should have? I think everyone should have a really nice watch. It’s a piece of jewelry that doesn’t ever really go out of style. It can be passed down and become a family heirloom. And I just think it’s refreshing to not rely on your phone for everything! If you wear a watch, you don’t have to scramble around in your bag or your pocket just to see the time. You can do a subtle, classy, flick of the wrist and not interrupt a conversation or a moment.

Pre-Owned Cartier 18K Yellow Gold Panthère Wristwatch

What are some of the hottest jewelry brands that people are loving right now? Etho Maria feels very contemporary because they do such a great job mixing metals. Their big sculptural statement rings are also very in right now. Gabriele Ofiesh makes a great eye- catching ring as well. And although he often uses the classic combo of gold and diamonds, his shapes and clean lines make them feel very of the moment. Sia Taylor is very on-trend with her fringe earrings - tassels were seen all over the fall runways! And Monica Rich Kosann’s time- honored lockets manage to be both traditional and new. I think lockets layered with a couple of additional necklaces look really cool. We can’t forget about timepieces! How can men and women style their jewelry with their watches? When you pair other jewelry with your watch, you want to choose pieces that will complement and not compete. So if you have a timepiece with a large face, choose bracelets that are small and delicate. Conversely, if your watch

is more dainty, you can wear a larger bangle or cuff. As for rings, I would say try to match the style of the watch. If your timepiece has a more classic design, stick with rings that are more conventional. If your watch is contemporary, opt for sculptural, statement rings. You can follow suit with necklaces and earrings, but remember not to overload! You want your jewelry to shine and not get lost in a big, blurry pile of bling. What are some ways you can bring old jewelry back to life? One fabulous way to bring old jewelry back to life is to bring it to a jewelry designer [like the ones at Long’s Jewelers]! They’ll work with you to create subtle changes, like choosing a new, more contemporary setting for a ring. Or they might suggest dramatic alterations like melting down the metals and taking out the stones and transforming them into entirely new pieces. It’s amazing how older keepsakes can be reimagined into stunning new collectibles.

How can you keep up with trends on a budget?

The way to keep up with trends is to invest in one spectacular piece when you can, and then complement that with more affordable accessories. Another great way is to shop estate. You can find some really special and unique vintage jewelry for a lesser price than if you had bought it brand new. A lot of high-end jewelers, Long’s included, have fabulous selections of curated estate jewelry.

SIA TAYLOR Occupied with all things tiny and natural, Sia Taylor brings the beauty of the little things to your jewelry style. After studying Fine Arts and Sculpture from the Royal College in London, Sia Taylor set out on a research mission in Africa. During her time in the Okavango Delta, Taylor focused her work on the small things in life, taking inspiration for her sculptures from seeds, pods, grass blades, and insects. “The work that I made while studying fine art was always using a very simple language of materials – dense dark lead contrasted with glowing copper leaf, and that is something that has carried through into the jewelry.” While jewelry making wasn’t originally her chosen career path, Taylor says she still continues to focus on how the natural world would feel being worn.

“I imagine how it would feel if the falling rain turned to gold, or how it would feel to wear shimmering grasses around your wrists. I hope to capture that sensation – so something reminiscent of it, rather than literal. Movement is very important in my pieces. I try to capture intangible things – fleeting moments – and make them into something to be worn or held.” Throughout Sia Taylor’s collections, you’ll find a mixture of colored golds. Her commitment to stay away from gemstones and create pieces solely using metals helps her collections stand out. Everything in her collections is hand-crafted in her England-based studios in Somerset and Bristol. Sia Taylor’s designs are just as beloved by women in the UK as women in the US.

LONG’S IS HONORED TO HIGHLIGHT THESE AMAZING DESIGNERS, SHOWCASING WHAT MAKES THEM SPECIAL.

MELLISSA JOY MANNING When her journey as a designer began, Melissa Joy Manning was advised against working with local artists, domestic labor, and resources. But thankfully, she didn’t take “no” for an answer! Instead, Manning defied the odds. “I can say that I was able to offer living working wages, benefits, and a place for other artists to pursue their craft while being profitable. And, when the artists leave to start their own lines, I have worked with many of them to support their fledgling businesses as both a mentor and customer (selling their work in my stores.) Coupled with my commitment to ethical manufacturing and responsible resources, I am very proud to have built a company that not only makes beautiful jewelry but makes significant changes in the jewelry industry and our community.” Today, Melissa Joy Manning’s jewelry design business is Green Certified by the state

of California and continues to look for ways to improve its eco-friendly jewelry-making processes. “As a designer, I have to make a lot of hard choices. What stones can I use, what stones can’t I use- how do I do what I do while remaining committed to my beliefs? Honestly, though, I think these challenges push me to create better jewelry. Jewelry that I’m proud to make”. For Manning, ethical business practices also include philanthropic endeavors. Last year alone, Melissa Joy Manning donated more than 3% of its net profits to charity. Manning believes that there is a way for the community her brand has created to positively impact the larger community in which everyone lives. “I believe it’s only together that we can create change- it’s not about one person being perfect, but a lot of people being imperfect together.”

DESIGNERS

SUZY LANDA A series of happy accidents: that’s how designer Suzy Landa describes the journey that took her little tinkering hobby and turned into the label of “Rising Star” at the JCK Las Vegas show in 2004. Landa is not shy about her lifelong love for at- home arts and crafts. Throughout her life, she’s created everything from sculptures to kinetic mobiles to embroidered pillows. Today, Landa’s jewelry designs pay homage to her 1960s-70s childhood, featuring minimalist designs with bold colored gemstones — all of which she makes right here in the US. “My collection is made entirely in New York City. I have worked with the same jeweler and setter since the very beginning — when he rescued a piece I was having trouble finishing properly in a metalsmithing class. Though I no longer sit at the bench myself, I have an understanding of the whole fabrication process, and in supervising production.

18K Yellow Gold Opal and Diamond Pendant Enhancer by Suzy Landa

I’m very scrutinizing about the way pieces are constructed. I still personally hand pick and match every stone for every piece.” Landa uses only the finest gemstones that she sources from a handful of suppliers — the same suppliers she’s used for nearly 18 years. Currently, you’ll find a lot more opal in her pieces, and there’s a good reason for that. “I am crazy about opals, particularly the boulder opals from Queensland, Australia. To me, they’re like Mother Nature’s little paintings.” Inspired by modern art and mid- century designs, Landa prefers to make one-of-a-kind pieces that speak to a woman’s sense of style and beauty. Something she’s accomplished by going against mainstream designers and trends. “My goal is to have a woman love my piece in ten years as much as she loves it on the first day she wore it.”

18K Yellow Gold Multistone Color Block Drop Earring by Suzy Landa

ZOË CHICCO The first piece of jewelry Zoë Chicco ever created was a stylish broach made from a camera lens, a single coin, beads, and a safety pin. Now, you might not think it was much, but to a 6-year old Chicco, it was the beginning of her career in jewelry design. Inspired by all the adornments her grandmother wore, Chicco pursued jewelry making in high school before going on to study Studio Art and Metalsmithing in college. After spending some time working at the bench for other designers, Chicco finally launched her line in 2000. Since then, Chicco’s designs have built a cult-like following among some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Yet, pleasing the stars isn’t her main focus. Instead, Chicco prides herself on creating jewelry for everyone and keeping it all in-house. “My team of jewelers and I have full control over the creative process from start to finish. My other biggest source of pride is

14K Yellow Gold Double Curb Link Chain by Zoe Chicco

that I strive to design pieces that can appeal to customers with different economic backgrounds. We try to offer price-friendly options as well as more aspirational pieces — there is something for everyone.” Last year, Chicco celebrated her 20th year in business as a jewelry designer. To commemorate the occasion, she launched the 20x20 campaign: 20 collaborations to celebrate 20 years. Working with other Los Angeles female founders and innovators, the 20x20 campaign gave others a chance to give back using the proceeds from their limited-edition jewelry designs. “I love the opportunity to collaborate with so many inspiring women and introduce them to my community. It’s a way to share that I haven’t done before. Each person is completely unique and has their own perspective, and it has been a lot of fun to work together to bring their ideas to life through the medium of jewelry.”

Why might someone be interested or should consider an estate jewelry piece? Many estate pieces are one-of-a-kind. Jewelry is not made now the same as it once was, even if you go back 20 or 30 years. Collectors want a heavier piece of gold, or they want something that speaks to them. Some of this translates so beautifully into today. It’s vintage, but you can wear it with new pieces! How might someone incorporate estate jewelry into their jewelry box with their newer pieces? I always say to buy what you love and consider how you canwork it into your current collection. Some of our pieces are works of art that can be worn alone or can be styled with your current favorites. For example, you can stack an estate bracelet with a more modern bracelet or layer it with several other pieces.

How should you care for an estate piece of jewelry? If you have estate jewelry, a gentle cleaning at home is fine. It’s basically the same rules as current jewelry. If you need a repair on an estate piece, you want to keep it original. You want to make sure that you’re not altering it too much to take away from the value. EDWARDIAN ERA The Edwardian era got its name from the English King, Edward the 7th. This period of jewelry is luxurious and innovative. It’s also the last jewelry period to be defined by a British monarch, so these pieces hold a lot of history. Jewelry from this era was made between 1901- 1915, at the height of society’s elegance and sophistication. During these years, women “dressed to the nines,” so their jewels had to match.

“A lot of these pieces are very flowy, curvacious, use a lot of platinum and also have old European-cut diamonds in them. You’ll also see a lot of pieces with ribbon garland designs from this time period.” At Long’s, you’ll find an array of stunning pieces from the Edwardian period! We have a gorgeous pair of yellow gold and diamond drop earrings that are perfect for a special anniversary gift. Want something that symbolizes grace and beauty? Then you’ll love this diamond and sapphire swan brooch, or a diamond and platinum cross necklace that perfectly reflects your faith. Finally, a diamond platinum and 18k gold pin will easily complement your special occasion with simplicity and sophistication.

ART DECO Jewelry pieces from the Art Deco period were made between 1920-1935.Similar to Edwardian pieces, Art Deco jewelry utilizes white gold, platinum, and old-cut diamonds. However, these pieces differentiate themselves from Edwardian jewelry through the use of distinct geometric shapes, calibre cut gemstones, and filigree, or small cut-out designs. The filigree is one of the most distinctive features of Art Deco jewelry and is near impossible to recreate today.

In our estate collection, you’ll find the Art Deco period represented in a variety of stunning old- cut diamond rings. Hand-crafted and alive with intricacies, these rings capture the eye and are the perfect conversation starter. If you’re looking for a unique and special engagement ring, these just might catch your eye. Or, a beautiful Art Deco bracelet that will add more depth to your current bangle stack.

“Art Deco is more structural, and you’ll see more geometric patterns and cleaner lines. They used a lot of platinum, and engagement rings became popular, too. Many pieces have a balance of color, using sapphires, jade, onyx, and diamond accents. And most of the pieces are handmade and are one-of-a-kind.”

ANGELIKA: The Angelika collection incorporates many of the technical refinements explored through David Yurman’s high jewelry creations.Angelika was a year in development, and what makes it unique are the individual sculptural filaments radiating from a central point in the collection’s designs. Each delicate filament has its own square shape with a surface textured by Cable, diamonds, or a smooth, high polish. When bundled together, the fineness and delicacy of the filaments create not only movement but an ethereal play of light. The collection is available in both 18k gold and sterling silver. Each metal ray is hand finished, and the diamonds are hand set.

rocking the band

W EDDING Bands M I X , M A T C H , S T A C K WHEN IT COMES TO ENGAGEMENT RINGS, TODAY’S MODERN COUPLES ARE THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX. WE’VE SEEN IT MANY TIMES OVER—COUPLES TRADING THE TRADITIONAL DIAMOND FOR A COLORFUL GEMSTONE, OPTING FOR A VINTAGE ENGAGEMENT RING THAT CAN’T BE REPLICATED, OR EVEN CHOOSING SOMETHING SO ELEGANT AND STRAIGHTFORWARD AS A SOLITAIRE MOUNTING. Now, we’re seeing couples carry that same energy into selecting their wedding bands. For the ladies, this means looking at options that don’t precisely match their engagement ring. For the guys, this might look like something non-traditional. Either way, the trends for today’s wedding bands have really taken off, and we’ve got to say we’re here for it!

FANCY SHAPED DIAMONDS Most couples are looking for something unique in their wedding sets. That’s probably why the modern couple is being so drawn to wedding bands with a mix of fancy shapes. Some wedding bands combine pears with brilliant rounds. Others pair baguettes and marquises for a classic and elegant wedding band. If you can’t decide between a fancy shape, don’t worry! Multi-shape bands are also a great option.

THIN ETERNITY BANDS Being modern also means keeping things sleek and elegant. Thin diamond eternity bands are making a name for themselves, requiring us to name them as a wedding trend. Many couples are even looking for that vintage style look in these thin bands, adoring the beaded trim and arrangement of different fancy stones throughout a single wedding band.

MIXED METALS Mixing metals has become a major trend throughout the entire jewelry industry over the last couple of years. Now, we see this with wedding bands. But what does this look like? We’ve seen couples pair their white gold engagement ring with a rose gold diamond band. Another unique combination is a two-tone yellow and white gold band that gives you a

STACKS Why express your love with just one band when you could have multiple? Many brides love the stacked look for their wedding sets. Each band holds some sort of meaning, whether it be the birth of a child or anniversary dates. The great thing about stacked wedding bands is that you can always add on the layers for each momentous occasion.

NON-TRADITIONAL MATERIALS In the past, wedding bands were made solely out of precious metals like gold and platinum, but the days of limited metal choices are behind us. Designers are starting to create unique

A LONG’S

THEY SAY LOVE’S A JOURNEY — A JOURNEY THAT STARTS RIGHT HERE AT LONG’S. IT’S HOW BOSTON GETS ENGAGED. Proposal Story For decades, Long’s Jewelers has been a part of some very special moments of love. Here are some of the most memorable engagement stories from our very own clients. Congratulations to all of our recently engaged couples!

NIDHI & SUJAL

Nidhi and Sujal’s journey of love began in high school. An hour from one another, these two spent a lot of time on FaceTime, meeting up for dates, and looking forward to proms. Fast forward to the past year: while several couples of mutual friends were getting engaged, Nidhi was beginning to think her own proposal wasn’t happening. That was until Sujal invited her to a fake work event at the Hammond Castle in Gloucester, MA. “Nidhi’s sister, Himani, and her friends, Dhara and Priya, made sure I had packed several outfits for her to change into for this “work event” I was taking her to and hid them in the car along with makeup and shoes. I also hired a photographer, pretending to be the “work event” photographer, and had him meet us there. As we made our way onto the beautiful arched wall overlooking the ocean, I got on my knee, and I asked her to marry me and spend the rest of our lives together. After changing into different outfits and taking photos for two hours at the nearby beach, we drove to the Fulchino Vineyards in New Hampshire where all of our friends were waiting to surprise Nidhi and I at a party.”

Sonja & Kendall

SONJA & KENDALL

Long’s very own Bridal Buyer, Sonja, is now sporting some new bling! Sonja met her fiancé, Kendall, while on a trip to celebrate a mutual friend’s birthday at UMass Amherst. After hitting it off right away, the two wouldn’t have their first date until almost a year later. After dating for nearly six years, Kendall popped the question the day after Sonja’s 29th birthday. “After I finished opening gifts, Kendall took my hand and told me to come stand next to him. Making his way to the middle of the living room, with my parents, siblings, and nephews surrounding us, he put his hand in his pocket, and I suddenly realized what was happening. Completely shocked and caught off guard as he got down on one knee, I immediately dropped to the ground. I could not believe what was happening. Kendall proceeded to tell me how much he loves me and that he wanted the people who care about me most to be there for this moment. And then he said, ‘Sonja Renee Swanfeldt, will you marry me?’ Of course, I said yes, and we celebrated the rest of the night and the rest of the weekend. We both feel so grateful to have found that person who is our perfect balance to spend the rest of our lives with, and we are so happy Long’s was able to be involved in such a special time and milestone in our life together. Cheers to the next chapter!”
