CELEBRATING

ROGER HARPER

Roger Harper , Store Manager Fink’s Jewelers Charlotte, NC (615) 236-8176 • Roger.Harper@finks.com

R oger Harper, store manager at SouthPark in Charlotte, NC, is celebrating his 10th anniversary with Fink’s Jewelers this spring. With more than 25 years of experience, Roger has grown and flourished professionally over the past decade. Originally brought in as a sales associate, Roger earned the store manager title five years ago, and we’re proud of the work he does and the inspiration he brings to our team and clients in the area. AN ENERGETIC LEADER One of the first things people will tell you about me is that I’m full of energy. My goal as store manager is to incorporate a fun, energetic atmosphere and embrace technology where I can. I really lean into being more client-focused as well as giving our employees a chance to speak up and be more involved in shaping the future of this store. I think that’s really where I want to leave my mark. CUSTOMER INTERACTIONS ARE EVERYTHING Getting to know clients is so important. When you know their birthdays, anniversaries, and engagements, you get to be a part of those special moments — and sometimes, clients turn into friends. I’ve had the honor of being at weddings and celebrations of all types. I’ve even been invited to dinner parties and golf outings with clients. THE CULTURE IS SPECIAL AT FINK’S It’s an open-door policy around here. If I have a question, I know I can pick up the phone and call Matthew or Marc Fink and they’ll answer. They are also in the store often, so seeing our owners regularly helps maintain this tight- knit culture that’s so special and unique to Fink’s. Customers notice it, too. It’s like Cheers around here! You walk in, and everyone knows your name. TRUMPETS AND SKETCHES AND SHRIMP BOATS? OH, MY! I’m a pretty open book, but not everyone knows about my musical talents and sketching abilities. I used to play trumpet, trombone, and baritone bass guitar, and I’d sketch for anybody who would ask — mostly comics and shrimp boats. I grew up in Holden Beach, North Carolina, where my stepfather is a commercial fisherman and my godparents run the shrimping industry. As a kid all the way through college, I worked on the docks during the weekends and summers. We’d wake up at three or four in the morning, head out, fish, and then come back. I learned a lot back then — and used to have a better tan. It was great.

DEREK CARON GET TO KNOW THE FINK’S JEWELERS FAMILY Derek Caron , Store Manager Fink’s Jewelers Virginia Beach, VA (757) 640-1132 • Derek.Caron@finks.com

D erek Caron joins Fink’s Jewelers as the manager of our Virginia Beach location. Since 1999, Derek has been working in the jewelry industry, working in large retail, local independent, and fine retail jewelers. After spending the last five years in Cleveland, Ohio, Derek is happy to be back home, and we’re happy he said “Yes” to joining the Fink’s family. FROM GEOLOGY TO GEMOLOGY As a kid, I enjoyed rocks of all shapes and sizes. I just really loved minerals and gemstones. Then, in school, while I was working at a restaurant, one of my coworkers decided that he’d invite me to a special event at a jewelry store for Valentine’s Day. I walked into this youthful, professional, fun environment where everyone was dressed in suits, and I thought, “This is what I should be doing.” So, right after school, I applied to every jewelry store I could think of until I got a job.

DIAMONDS DRAW ME IN Like rocks, no two diamonds or gemstones are the same. There are so many colors and varieties. Diamonds instantly come to mind because we’re drawn to them for their brilliance, fire, and sparkle. We all look at jewelry and are in awe of how beautiful something from the earth can be. Most gemstones simply look just like any other rock until an artisan brings out the stunning beauty within them. It’s amazing. HOMECOMING I was living and working in Cleveland, OH, when the Fink’s team reached out to me. I got to meet the entire team, including Marc and Matthew Fink, 3rd and 4th generations of this amazing family business. Everyone was so welcoming and excited about having me on board, especially since I’m originally from the area. It felt like a good time to make a move. I wanted to be closer to my kids as they finish up high school to spend time with them before they start their own adventures in college.

FINK’S IS SPECIAL The relationship Fink’s Jewelers has with the community is amazing. My goal is to step into this role and continue to serve Fink’s loyal customers. I would love to help develop relationships with new customers as they go through the process of selecting the perfect diamond engagement ring. I want to build a bridal clientele that’s generational. When you build those kinds of relationships, you get to be a part of some very special family moments as you watch them grow. It’s an honor to be a part of their story. A MUSICAL GIFT I really enjoy playing music when I’m at home. I was classically trained as a violist, and over time I’ve taught myself to play other instruments. I play nine in total, including the piano, which I like to record, and then add a beautiful melody with my violin. It’s truly one of my favorite passions and hobbies outside of jewelry.

MOTHER’S DAY A mother’s love is ever-constant. She nurtures and shapes generations, influencing family culture as a matriarch. Mother’s Day — the one day set aside to acknowledge all of the mothers in our lives — certainly calls for a celebration to thank them for the lifetime of commitment they so freely have given to us. Every spring, Mother’s Day calls us to pause and reflect on the most nurturing presence in our lives — Mom. She’s always there when you need her, whether dropping you off at practice or picking up the phone when you call. Mom has always reminded you of how much she cherishes and loves you . She’s made countless sacrifices and loved unconditionally. She’s planned every birthday,

every family outing, and every Christmas event. Now, doesn’t that deserve more than a fleeting acknowledgment and a little greeting card?

CAR CRAZY

BY GARY WOLLENHAUPT

Jerry ’ s New Porsche

The 1999 Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe Sonderwunsch Factory One-Off underwent a total factory restoration and modification under the direction of the Porsche Club of America. It toured the country for a year before being auctioned at the Porsche 75th Anniversary Auction by Broad Arrow Auctions last June. Seinfeld, who already has one of the most impressive collections of Porsches in private hands, won the bidding at $1.3 million, including the buyer’s premium. The 911 Classic Club Coupe, offered at no reserve, was only available for purchase by PCA members, which Seinfeld has been for more than 30 years.

30 FINK’S JEWELERS

T he car represents a singular vision of what a Porsche 911 could be. The 911 Classic Club Coupe is a one-of-one Sonderwunsch (special wishes) project completed by Porsche Classic in collaboration with the Porsche Club of America (PCA). That this is a unique car will not surprise anyone who sees it, but a “No. 001/001” badge on the dashboard underscores its scarcity. A ducktail spoiler reminiscent of the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7, a double-bubble roof, 18-inch forged aluminum Fuchs wheels, and unique paint combine to create a striking resemblance to the Type 997 911 Sport Classic. Those looks are only part of the story. It was inspired by the 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic and the current 911 Sport Classic and designed by Style Porsche Director of Special Projects, Grant Larson, in collaboration with the Porsche Club of America. The two groups discussed what could have occurred had Porsche’s special manufacturing unit and the PCA worked together in previous decades. They looked back at the 2010 911 Sport Classic, Porsche’s first Exclusive Manufaktur series production model. That inspiration led to a question: What would a prequel to the 2010 911 Sport Classic look like? Larson, designer of the Carrera GT Case Study, the 2012 911 Sport Classic, and the 2023 911 Sport Classic while serving as director of special projects at Style Porsche, involved himself from the beginning. Larson sketched out his vision of a proto-Sport Classic from Style Porsche in Stuttgart. At the same time, PCA Executive Director Vu Nguyen searched for the right donor vehicle. Ultimately, a 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe was located in Virginia. Shortly thereafter, the 911 Coupe was flown back to Stuttgart- Zuffenhausen to begin the transformation from “just” a classic 911 to a 911 Classic Club Coupe. Revealed in 2022 at PCA’s Werks Reunion gathering on Amelia Island, the 911 Classic Club Coupe toured the country that year, visiting PCA events such as the Porsche Parade in the Poconos, Porsche Sports Car Together Fest at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Werks Reunion Monterey, and ünStock. Based on a 1998 911 Carrera, the chassis, brakes, and engine are taken from the 996.2 911 GT3, the first such model homologated for sale in the U.S. Accordingly, the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six generates 381 horsepower. The donor car, which PCA Executive Director Vu Nguyen found in a state of neglect in Colombia, Virginia, traveled to the Porsche Classic workshop near the main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, where it was originally built. There, it underwent a complete restoration, including total disassembly and strengthening of the body-in-white using original and newly developed parts. One question in car collecting circles is, how much does celebrity ownership add to the value of a car? Auto auction experts can point to a Jerry Seinfeld effect based on previous sales. When Seinfeld sells cars from his collection, they bring, on average, 47 percent more than the average Porsche of a comparable example. Seinfeld spent several times more on this car than similar cars, but who can put a price on a one-of-a-kind? COMEDIAN JERRY SEINFELD, A NOTED PORSCHE COLLECTOR, MASTERED HIS DOMAIN — AGAIN — WHEN HE WON THE HIGH BID FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY PORSCHE.

T equila is unique compared to whiskeys and other distilled

BLANCO Blanco is the starting point for all tequila varieties. It’s unaged, although some may rest in an oak barrel for up to 60 days. You’ll find blancos with a surprising variety of flavor profiles, from sharp notes of citrus and pepper to creamy smooth with touches of vanilla and honey. AÑEJO This is the tequila version of the brown spirits, aging in oak whiskey barrels for one to three years. Flavors range from oaky and spicy to buttery and warm. EXTRA AÑEJO Extra añejo rests for three years or more in oak barrels, imparting a rich amber color and intense aromas. The aging results in an ultra-premium spirit with deep notes of caramel, chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla.

CRISTALINO Cristalino is an añejo or extra añejo that has been charcoal filtered. This process removes tannins and enhances fruity and floral notes, resulting in a clear blanco style. Cristalinos are often sweeter and lighter than the unrefined añejo versions. REPOSADO Aged in oak barrels from two months to a year, a reposado tequila highlights blue agave with notes of vanilla, honey, and toasted nuts. The result is perfect for sipping. Reposados are the usual choice for a margarita or Paloma cocktail or a substitute for bourbon in an old-fashioned or Manhattan.

Engagement SEASON

Picking out an engagement ring is a big deal, right? You might be tempted by the latest trends, but there’s something special about a classic design. Timeless elegance in engagement rings often focuses on minimalism, creating an evergreen look that isn’t swayed by fashion shifts. At Fink’s Jewelers, we’re all about making jewelry that never goes out of style. Whether it’s the rings you say “I Do” with or the jewelry you choose to wear on your wedding day, finding the perfect engagement ring to complement your jewelry style starts here. First, we’ll need to talk about the heart of the ring — the diamond. This isn’t just any choice; it’s a symbol of your unique love. A diamond doesn’t just tell a story, it tells your story. Maybe you’re into the elegance of a round brilliant cut or the old-school charm of an emerald cut, both of which have been around for centuries. Even the asschers and cushion cuts have outlasted trends and changes in fashion with their timeless appeal. Whatever you pick, choosing the right diamond is the first step to creating something timeless. Diamond jewelry you choose for your wedding day, or that you select to celebrate future anniversaries and celebrations in life, are often also timeless and classic styles.

CELEBRATE FINDING “THE ONE”

Once you’ve picked your diamond, it’s time to think about the setting. This is where your personal style really shines. Are you into the sleek look of a solitaire setting or the intricate details of a vintage design? Perhaps you love the trinity diamond look that always seems to be in vogue, no matter the shape of the center stone. Even the five-stone engagement rings have been passed down through the generations. Why? Because they’re ageless and unyielding to the fads that come and go in the engagement ring department. Remember, there are plenty of options that will make your ring a standout, even among current fashion trends. This isn’t just a ring for now, it’s a future heirloom, one that will be passed down generation after generation. So, while you’re shopping, think about how you want your ring to fit your style today, tomorrow, and every day after that. CELEBRATE EACH OTHER

Anniversaries are heartfelt milestones, intimate pages in your love story, marked by shared dreams, challenges overcome, and joyous moments. Each passing year is a testament to the strength and depth of your bond. It’s also a time to pause and reflect on the journey on which you’ve embarked together. When celebrating these precious milestones, our anniversary collection can offer beautiful jewels that symbolize the essence of your union. Your first anniversary is your paper year, and it’s something special. Everything still feels new, like a fresh sheet of paper, and you’re excited to start filling in the blanks. For her, the delicate glimmer of a pearl necklace reflects the promise of your budding new journey. And for him, a stylish corded bracelet will remind him that you’re in this together. The tenth year, the tin anniversary, marks a decade of togetherness. A diamond pendant, resilient and everlasting, mirrors the strength and brilliance of your ten-year journey. Or perhaps it’s the perfect occasion to gift him that timepiece he’s had his eye on. Either way, your tenth anniversary is worth a bold statement. When you reach the twenty-fifth year — the silver anniversary — it’s a time for reflection and profound celebration. Custom-designed rings for him and her, with diamonds as radiant as your shared history, can serve as beacons of your cherished memories and the adventures that lie ahead. ANNIVERSARIES Celebrate

OYSTER PERPETUAL DATEJUST

THE LADY-DATEJUST MAKE A DATE OF A DAY Any day can leave a lasting mark on our lives, set the stage for new aspirations, change one’s destiny, or change the course of history. A milestone in watchmaking history, the Oyster Perpetual Datejust was the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch to display the date in a window at 3 o’clock on the dial. These numbers are a reminder that though 24 hours mark a day, it’s on us to make those a date to remember.

MAKE A DATE OF A DAY

EMBODYING ROLEX KNOW-HOW The perfect embodiment of the classic Rolex watch, the Datejust, launched in 1945, showcased all the major accomplishments developed to that point by the brand. It thus echoed the quest for excellence of Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, who believed that watchmaking progress should encourage human progress. In a period of great change, people’s relationship with time was shifting. Modern life moved to the rhythm of the passing days and was less connected to the seasons. The Datejust offers enhanced comfort in terms of legibility and daily time management. Useful and practical, it was soon established as a precious instrument for the modern, independent, active wearer.

With its emblematic fluted bezel and distinctive Cyclops lens , the Datejust exemplifies timeless elegance. Supple and comfortable, the five-piece link Jubilee bracelet was developed specially for the launch of the Datejust in 1945.

THE CYCLOPS LENS: AN OPTIMIZED READING Created to improve the legibility of the date, the Cyclops lens is both an aesthetic and a technical brand signature. This Rolex invention, named after the one-eyed giant in Greek mythology, was patented in the early 1950s and presented for the first time in 1953 on a Datejust. Its magnifying effect makes the date easier to read. Initially in plexiglass, it has been crafted in sapphire since the 1970s, like the watch’s crystal. Virtually impervious to scratches, the sapphire now features a double anti-reflective coating, making it even more effective. THE JUBILEE BRACELET: COMFORT AND ELEGANCE Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Rolex in 1945, the Jubilee bracelet was specially designed for the Datejust. This fluid and comfortable five-piece link metal bracelet is integral to the Datejust’s identity. Fitted with an invisible Crownclasp or an Oysterclasp, the Jubilee bracelet enhances the timeless elegance of the model. The Datejust is also available with an Oyster bracelet or, on precious metal versions, a President bracelet.

MAKE A DATE OF A DAY

IGA ŚWIĄTEK Roland-Garros, Saturday 10 October 2020. A historic date in the career of Iga Świątek. At 19, she won her first Grand Slam® singles title on the Parisian clay without dropping a single set during the tournament. A year and a half later, she became World No. 1 during a 37-match winning streak, capped by her triumphs at four high-status WTA 1000 events, her second Roland-Garros crown and a first at the US Open.

ROGER FEDERER On 5 July 2009, Roger Federer triumphed at The Championships, Wimbledon, breaking Pete Sampras’s record and becoming the first man to win 15 Grand Slam ® singles titles. In the photo marking this milestone, Federer reveals a Datejust on his wrist, with purple hues echoing the Wimbledon logo. Today, he remains particularly attached to this watch which recalls a unique and defining point in his career: “It was like a perfect storm and the watch was part of it.”

A CONTINUALLY UPDATED WATCHMAKING ICON The Datejust is constantly reinventing itself. Its varied reinterpretations express and showcase Rolex’s expertise in dial-making. Set with diamonds or crafted from mother-of-pearl, adorned with palm or fluted motifs, or featuring a sunray finish, the selection of dials helps uphold the model’s reputation. The same is true of its bezels — smooth, domed, fluted, or diamond-set — with which the Datejust has stylishly spanned eras while perfectly adapting to the personality of its wearers. CELEBRATING DATES WITH DESTINY The Datejust has naturally become the watch of our dates with destiny. Day after day, its dial marks a meeting point between the personal course of each wearer and the passing of time. Seen on the wrists of major figures such as Winston Churchill, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Martin Luther King, the Datejust has spanned eras without ever losing its modern touch. Among the Rolex Testimonees associated with the Datejust, we celebrate personalities who have seized the day to make history in their discipline: the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer, Polish tennis player Iga Świątek, Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami and Canadian singer Michael Bublé.

AND O.H. INGRAM WHISKEY WHERE INNOVATION AND TRADITION MIX

What do Fink’s Jewelers and O.H. Ingram have in common, besides carrying on family legacies? Our two companies are rooted in the experience of quality and fine-crafted goods. This past September, our rich histories collided when Orrin Henry “Hank” Ingram III, the founder of O.H. Ingram, invited Marc and Matthew Fink on a VIP tour and barrel- picking experience at their floating facility on the Mississippi River in Columbus, Kentucky. During their visit, Marc and Matthew toured the floating barrel houses, learning more about Hank Ingram’s family heritage on the river and the company’s proprietary river-aging technique used to craft their whiskeys. Following the barge tour, they headed back to the lodge, where they tasted a selection of hand-picked rye and bourbon casks before choosing the perfect barrel for the unveiling of our Franklin, Tennessee, location. Family-owned sister company Ingram Industries has been moving

goods on river barges up and down the Mississippi River since 1857. Carrying on a five-generation tradition, O.H. Ingram now uses the mighty river to age its golden libations. Ingram’s specific mash bills are distilled to perfection at Green River Distilling Co. in Owensboro, Kentucky, and then spend their entire lives on O.H. Ingram’s floating barrel houses moored to the banks of the Mississippi River. Here, the whiskey stays for a minimum of four years, churning with the motion of the water. It’s also exposed to the constant fluctuations of the weather and humidity in the region, resulting in a fleet of rich, smooth, and flavorful whiskeys. Since the unveiling of both the hand-selected barrel and the Franklin location, the whiskey has been bottled, stamped with Fink’s logo, and handed out on special occasions, giving many of our customers the chance to enjoy both worlds of diamonds and fine whiskey.

CELEBRATE DADS

FATHER’S DAY June 16

Father’s Day is more than a day; it’s an opportunity to honor the bedrock of your family — Dad. Throughout your life, Dad has always intrigued you with his silent strength and unwavering support, shaping your world in countless and often unnoticed ways. Still, not all has escaped you. Some of your fondest memories revolve around Dad and his presence in your life. He was there when you scored your first goal. He taught you how to ride a bike. And he was the one snapping the picture when you caught your first large-mouth bass. As you grew older, he was there to offer advice, giving you a sneak peek into the amount of wisdom that comes with age. Dad’s been there around every corner, supporting you through all of life’s ups and downs. So this year, choose a gift for Dad that says you don’t know what you’d do without him.

Dad, What Would I Do Without You?

Our distinguished collection offers more than just accessories; it offers symbols of legacy and timelessness. A sleek, sophisticated watch doesn’t just mark time, it celebrates the moments your father has invested in you, each second a building block of your life. If yours is a dapper dad, select a new pair of cufflinks. With their subtle elegance, cufflinks make a statement that reflect his style and refinement — two principles that have, perhaps, passed on to you. Even a gold chain will remind him that you appreciate his love of the finer things in life. Let a gift from our Father’s Day collection be a testament to his enduring influence, a reflection of the respect and love that he has earned, and a celebration of the guiding light he continues to be.

BREITLING Superocean Automatic 44 SPECIAL EDITION

FINK’S JEWELERS IS EXCITED TO OFFER THIS LIMITED EDITION TIMEPIECE WITH PERFORMANCE AND STYLE FOR ALL YOUR WATER-BASED PURSUITS

I n the 1960s, the new sport of scuba diving was all the rage. For divers, timing was everything, and Breitling set out to give them the most clear-cut dive watch possible by eliminating any feature that didn’t support their lifesaving needs underwater. This pared-down watch was named the Slow Motion. What remained were clean lines, chunky luminescent indexes, squared-off hands, and a high-contrast dial ring, all aimed at maximum legibility. Practical, yes. But what people really fell in love with was the look.

The new Superocean retraces the Slow Motion’s celebrated design codes, while adding modern features, like a ceramic- inlayed bezel and brightly colored dials. Broad hands and indexes in luminescent Super-LumiNova ® allow for easy readability underwater. The watch is water resistant to 300 m (1000 ft), as well as being shock-, sand-, and saltwater- resistant. The bronze version uses a special alloy that has excellent resistance to corrosion, yet will still develop a subtle patina over time that makes the watch even more unique.

The two strap options (rubber and metal bracelet) have a folding clasp that allows for micro-adjustments of up to 15 mm for easy wear over rashies and wetsuits. Its scratch-proof ceramic inlayed bezel will never wear or fade. For safety, the bezel is uni-directional on most sizes and bi-directional with a patented lock on the 46 mm. Best of all, this is no longer strictly a dive watch — surf with it, swim with it, hit the beach bar with it, then wear it out to dinner. The Superocean perfectly balances the nostalgia of its heritage with a fresh new look.
