BALLON BLEU DE CARTIER

CARTIER EXPANDS ITS BALLON BLEU COLLECTION WITH A QUARTET OF NEW MODELS

C reated in 2007 from a new vision of roundness, the Ballon Bleu has since remained a mainstay of Cartier’s watch catalog. The defining characteristics of the Ballon Bleu watch include a doubly-convex curved case, an integrated winding crown under a metal hoop, and a blue cabochon set into the crown. While the blue bubble that inspired the name of the watch disrupts Maison codes, details such as dials with Roman numerals and bold sword-shaped hands are quintessentially Cartier. Cartier has continued to develop the Ballon Bleu over the years with new sizes, materials, functions, and dial designs. Now, the Maison has added four new models to the line, two in an alluring combination of steel and gold and two featuring fresh pink sunray dials. The new steel and 18K yellow gold Ballon Bleu de Cartier watches are offered in either 33 mm or 36 mm sizes, both housing silvered guilloché dials punctuated with blued- steel sword-shaped hands. Matching the blue hands is the signature synthetic cabochon-shaped spinel set into the 18K fluted winding crown. Both watches are fitted with steel and 18K yellow gold three-link interchangeable bracelets, topped with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals, and operate on automatic mechanical movements.
