Friends,

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” ~William Arthur Ward

2021 marked our 90th year in business, and as a family we’ve never felt more grateful to the customers that we serve. It’s because of you that we are fortunate enough to get up and come to work every day and build a legacy of helping enrich your happiest moments. From our entire family, thank you. Your generous support has allowed us to grow our company. We have augmented our servicing capabilities to include robust in- house watch and jewelry services, including onsite laser engraving. This growth is just the beginning. From the time our showroom was built in 2001, our goal has always been to provide a customer-centric jewelry-shopping experience. We had our first major renovation in 2015, and are looking forward to sharing more about the growth to come in 2022. Because of your dedication to shopping locally, it fills me with pride to say that we have more personnel on staff than ever before. My grandfather started this company as a pawn shop to help families through the aftermath of the depression. 90 years later, having the resources to employ 28 people from our community is a privilege, and I know he’d be immensely proud.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for 90 years.

MARCO EVER EVOLVING THE NEWNESS OF Marrakech Onde 18k yellow gold hand-twisted floral Y necklace with diamonds. $9,650

Marrakech Onde 18k yellow gold hand-twisted floral fashion ring with diamonds. $1,080

Marco Bicego proves that jewelry doesn’t just have to be something you wear, but rather it can be an outward extension of our own transformations throughout life. Each collection begins as classic core wardrobe pieces, which Marco then evolves into more detailed, and sometimes colorful, intricate works of art. Marco has dedicated fall 2021 to three focus additions: Marrakech Onde, Jaipur Link with pendants, and classic gold Lunaria. It is as much about the journey of the jewelry as it is the journey of the woman who wears it for every occasion of her life.

Marrakech Onde 18k yellow gold hand-twisted floral diamond bracelet. $11,080

Marrakech Onde 18k yellow gold hand-engraved, hand-twisted floral station design bracelet with diamonds. $2,880

THE MARRAKECH COLLECTION , for instance, sheds light on Marco’s timeless and evolutionary thinking in wearable, classic jewelry. No one could have predicted that a broken machine and a coiled chain from 20 years ago would blossom into Marco’s signature hand-twistedMarrakech collection to become the newest iteration:Marrakech Onde Blooming Diamond. Recognized instantly, Marrakech is continuously evolving and now includes delicate interlocking oval links and twisted strands with stunning arrays of blooming diamond flowers. Both timeless and elegant, the Marrakech Onde Blooming Diamond flowers complement any style and are versatile, sensual, and evolutionary in every way imaginable. This collection is a physical display of Marco’s love of tradition and inspiration for putting a contemporary twist on modern jewelry.

ONE OF MARCO’S MOST POPULAR COLLECTIONS, LUNARIA is also evolving this year to include delicate and lightweight, yet bold cuffs, earrings, and rings. Born from Marco’s love of nature and the sight of soft flower petals blowing in the wind, the newest styles in the Lunaria collection carry on that legacy. Hand-engraved 18k gold petals are framed with polished gold and then hand-engraved to perfection. Graceful and elegant, the Lunaria collection’s newness transforms how we see nature, and stands the test of time. It remains a tried-and-true staple for any woman to have in her jewelry collection.

When bundled together, the fineness and delicacy of the filaments create not only movement but an ethereal play of light. The collection is available in both 18k gold and sterling silver. A NEW GENERA T I ON OF EXPLORERS AND SOME OUT - OF - TH I S -WORLD D I A L S 2021 ROLEX

Rolex, the world’s most collected watch, singles out certain models each year for updates, new designs, or improvements. It could be a new metal, a new dial treatment, or even a new movement. This year, the Explorer gets some special attention, with new materials and a new dial treatment. The Daytona was endowed with an out- of-this-world dial, and the Datejust is embellished with a subtle palm frond motif.

The Rolex Datejust 36 in Oystersteel.

22 ] D A V I S J E W E L E R S

The Explorer has been enriched with a touch of gold this year with yellow Rolesor, a true Rolex signature combining 18k yellow gold and Oystersteel. A sparkling rim of gold also surrounds the numerals and hands. The dial has been given a rich, glossy lacquer finish, in keeping with the model’s climb into gold territory. The black color contrasts beautifully with the indexes and signature 3, 6, and 9 numerals, especially since they are now lit up with new and improved Chromalight, Rolex’s proprietary luminescent material. In dark conditions, the hands and hour markers glow a vibrant blue, and in daylight, they remain a bright white. The movement is also new for the Explorer. The caliber 3230 features Rolex’s signature Chronergy escapement with a blue Parachrom anti-magnetic hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers and a power reserve of 70 hours. This year’s introductions also include some sparkle, with a new Lady Datejust adorned with more than 1,000 diamonds. They cover the dial, case, lugs, and bracelet like a blanket of sparkling snow, contrasted by elegant black Roman numerals. The 28 mm watch is 18k yellow gold, and it contains the caliber 2236, with a precision rating of -2/+2 seconds per day. The new lineup from Rolex for 2021 is a nicely balanced assortment, ranging from rugged professional watches and embellished sports watches to decorated dials and gem-encrusted beauties — something for everyone!

A hundred years ago, the roaring twenties were just getting started, and the women were daring, elegant, charming, and oh-so-stunning, sporting the jewelry to match. These ornaments included layers of pearls, diamonds, feathers, and art deco designs that have lasted through the years. Today, many designers are giving their nod to the days of long ago while keeping up with the modern woman— who, not surprisingly, is still beautiful, sophisticated, and enchanting. This year, Roberto Coin is tipping his hat to the original twenties, focusing on the layers of jewelry a woman can adorn, especially around her neckline. His medallion and locket collections are the perfect addition to any woman’s existing drapery. He’s even incorporating more glamour by adding diamonds to a lot of these newer pieces, including full pavé flowers from his beloved Love in Verona Collection. Accompanying Roberto’s medallions and lockets are plenty of layering gold chains, including the trendy paper-clip links. Elevating his previous design, this year’s paper-clip link chain can be unconnected and re- connected anywhere, using any of the links. This means you can quickly go from boardroom pendant by day to a slinky sautoir necklace by night. With more than 1,700 chain link styles to choose from, you’ll never grow tired of your Roberto Coin chain collection.

This year, the Venetian Princess collection features the deep, rich blue hues of lapis lazuli, something new for the entire line, as well as vibrant shades of turquoise. Diamond accents make these unique earrings and necklaces a must-have addition. While these newer pieces ring in a new Roaring Twenties era, Roberto stays true to his modern display of motifs, Venetian florals, and Gothic- inspired quatrefoil. The ever- familiar and beloved satin, polished, indented, and engraved finishes continue to give his refreshing new designs that Roberto Coin flair today’s women love.

GOES FORGOLD—ANDSILVER TUDOR

NEW CASE MATERIALS AND A NEW

CERTIFICATION FOR THE BLACK BAY

Tudor’s new releases for 2021 go a long way to reinforce its mandate to produce high-quality watches at great price points. This year, the focus is on the flagship Black Bay and Black Bay Fifty-Eight lines, with new case materials, new movements, and a new performance guarantee. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight is getting both an 18k gold case and a 925 silver case. The addition of gold in the line takes the model up a notch on the luxury scale, and the silver is surprising because it’s a rare metal for watches. Since wristwatches became popular, the 1940s, gold has been the standard metal because it is soft enough to machine, yet hard enough for daily wear when alloyed with other metals. Silver was historically ruled out because of its softness and its tendency to tarnish. But times and timepieces change. Just as gold alloys are improving, silver has been upgraded. Tudor is the first brand to introduce the metal into watches, and although the precise alloy formula is top secret, Tudor says it is tarnish-free and hard enough for daily wear. The Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 Silver is 39 mm wide, a vintage size that makes it wearable for both men and women. Silver takes a high polish, which gives the metal a decorative quality and a sheen like no other material, and it is an affordable alternative to gold. Is it poised to make a comeback in the watch industry? Time will tell.

The Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight in 18k yellow gold.

The Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 Silver.

26 ] D A V I S J E W E L E R S

The new, METAS approved Tudor Black Bay Ceramic is 41 mm wide.

The Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 Silver has an open caseback through which to see the movement, a new caliber for Tudor, the automatic MT5400, with a 70-hour power reserve. It is chronometer rated, which means it is COSC certified at an average daily variation in the daily of between -4 and +6 seconds. Tudor does further testing in-house and confirms that the MT5400 tests between -2 and +4 seconds in variation. Tudor takes the accuracy standard up another notch with the new Black Bay Ceramic, an all-ceramic-cased watch with another powerful in-house movement that is METAS certified. Tudor is only the second brand in the watch industry to certify its watches with the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology — the other is Omega. Tudor meets the qualification with a new movement, the MT5602-1U, which has a silicon balance spring and 70-hour power reserve. It is produced by Kenissi (a joint venture owned by Tudor, Breitling, and Chanel). The caliber is not only COSC-certified, but it also meets the higher standards of METAS. In order to qualify, it is tested at two temperatures, in six different positions, and must be able to function within a five-second range of variation each day (0/+5), compared to the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) rate of -4/+6. The certification also guarantees the timekeeping accuracy of the watch when subjected to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. The 41 mm Black Bay Ceramic has an open caseback showing the openworked movement, which has been given a black finish. It comes with two straps, one fabric and the other leather and rubber. The case is black ceramic and the bezel is PVD- treated steel with a ceramic insert. The 18k yellow gold Black Bay Fifty-Eight is also a first for Tudor and seems ahead of its time in its redefinition of the dressy sports watch. The gold adds a touch of elegance to the model, while the green dial and fabric strap retain a sporty edge. It’s also trendy: green is the hottest color in timepieces at the moment and looks great with yellow gold. It contains the MT5400 caliber, and like the other new Black Bay Fifty-Eight, it is water resistant to 200 meters. The new 18k gold model is a nice dress/sport watch at a great price point. Just what we expect from Tudor.

Those colors linger as accents as we transition into a range of comforting new neutrals for the fall, including saturated oranges, deep reds, and forest greens. Some of this year’s color combinations are surprising: Pantone’s top two colors of the year are the stony shades of Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, a golden buttercup yellow that will warm your heart. COMFORT COLORS, NEW NEUTRALS, AND A TOUCH OF CHEERY NEONS BRIGHTEN OUR WORLD “Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements that are everlasting and provide a firm foundation,” says Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute. “It is the color of pebbles on the beach whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time. It quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness, and resilience.” The second color, Illuminating, is one of strength and positivity, she says. “Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow, sparkling with vivacity. It is aspirational and gives us hope. We need to feel that everything is going to get brighter.”

Charles Krypell emerald cut rubellite ring with diamond baguettes in 18k white gold. $9,500

Likewise, the new colors released by paint companies this year are all about comfort. A new generation of saturated, restful neutrals provide a sense of sanctuary. Sherwin-Williams likes Urbane Bronze, a gray shade that is slightly darker than Pantone’s Ultimate. The company also released a light burgundy called Passionate, along with a pale apricot it describes as having overtones of “barely there pink,” like “minimally finished hardwood.”

GRAND SEIKO CELEBRATES THE SEASONS – ALL 24 OF THEM – IN A FOUR-PIECE COLLECTOR’S EDITION

The Grand Seiko GMT Four Seasons series acknowledges the Japanese tradition of celebrating the course of nature by breaking the four seasons down into six subtle stages within each, for a total of 24 seasonal phases or sekki. This is the third 24-sekki series. It debuted in 2019 with a four-piece limited edition for the U.S. market. Grand Seiko followed up last year with a duo of watches representing soko, the seasonal phase occurring at the end of autumn. This year, a series of four watches represents the four main seasons, embodying the spirit of all 24. Dial colors are used to represent each season. The green background with rose gold accents of the Shunbun (spring) model capture the verdant growth and budding trees of spring. The light blue dial of the Shosho (summer) model is textured in a wave pattern to represent ripples on Japan’s many lakes and ponds shimmering in the summer sun. The textured black dial of the Kanro (autumn) edition represents shorter days, longer nights, and a chill in the air. The white dial of the Toji (winter) dial is textured to represent the snow caps of a cool winter landscape. All four incorporate the signature elements of the Grand Seiko line, including the Series 9 case with high Zaratsu polish, dauphine hands, and long beveled markers. All four function as GMT watches with hour hands that are independently adjustable. Grand Seiko applies its two new showcase movements to the four-piece collection. The Hi-Beat 36000 automatic GMT caliber 9S86 drives the spring and summer versions. The elite movement, accurate to within +5 to -3 seconds per day, has a 55-hour power reserve. The hybrid electronic/ mechanical Spring Drive automatic GMT caliber 9R66, used in the autumn

and winter models, has a 72-hour power reserve and an accuracy rating of +/- 1 second per day. Because Grand Seiko fits its cases to its movements, there is a slight variance in size: the Hi-Beat spring and summer editions are 39.5 mm wide and 14.4 mm thick, while the Spring Drive autumn and winter models are 40.2 mm thick and 14 mm wide. All have open casebacks. The date window on all models is large enough to be readable, and a GMT hand and corresponding index are made legible with a color that contrasts with the background dial. The corresponding 24-hour index on the Hi-Beat spring and summer editions tracks around the inside of the main hour markers, while on the Spring Drive autumn and winter dials, the GMT index is staggered between the markers. The Spring Drive dials also include a discreet power reserve indicator. Like all Grand Seiko watches, they are produced at the brand’s Shizukuishi Studio in picturesque northern Japan. Grand Seiko’s talent as a maker of special dials is also present in this year’s Elegance Omiwatari , which is Japanese for “A god’s crossing.” The word is used to describe a natural phenomenon that occurs on Lake Suwa near the Grand Seiko Shinshu Watch Studio. Every winter when the lake freezes over, mysterious large cracks and ridges form across its surface, some as high as over a foot tall. The Japanese call it Omiwatari, or where the Shinto gods walk out over the ice. The legend inspired Grand Seiko to create a timepiece that invokes the beauty of the phenomenon. The ice blue dial is textured to mimic the undulations of the frozen lake. Housed inside the 38.5 mm case is the Spring Drive Caliber 9R31, which has a dual barrel structure that delivers a power reserve of 72 hours when fully wound.

Green remains the hottest color in luxury watches for the second year running. Green dials look beautiful in either steel or gold cases, so it’s no surprise that it has gone mainstream in luxury watches. It has long been the color that represents ecology and the environment. It is the color of green spaces, spring, regeneration, and fertility. There are more shades of green than any other color, and it seems they are all represented on watch dials this year. DIVE TIME GREAT WATCHES FOR DIVING AND LIVING

The qualities that make a great diver’s watch also make a great everyday watch with a minimalist, readable dial. It should have an uncluttered dial, large numerals and markers, an adjustable strap, lots of luminescence, at least 50-meter water resistance, and a reliable movement. The dive watch was developed in the 1960s as an essential tool for professional divers who wanted to survive plunges into the ocean depths. Once diving became a recreational pursuit in the 1970s and ’80s, watch companies made dive watches a part of their regular production. It has transcended the tool watch aesthetic with new designs, materials, and sizes, and today, it is as much a style statement as it is a reliable tool watch.

FREDERIC SAGE INSPIRED design

$2,695

Frederic Sage’s passion for jewelry began when he was exposed to the industry as a child. His father, an importer of precious gemstones for over forty years, passed many years of expertise on to Frederic. He expanded his knowledge in the industry when he attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where he studied Art History and Textile Design. Upon graduating, he was given the opportunity to design for a leading textile manufacturer. With a unique perspective and an eye for color, Frederic created designs that were distributed both domestically and internationally. During that time, he traveled to over 50 different countries and lived in major cities such as Milan, Paris, Barcelona and Lisbon. He also expanded his already impressive language skills and became fluent in 8 languages.

He eventually left a successful career in textiles to pursue his childhood dream of designing and creating fine jewelry. His vast knowledge of the industry makes him a connoisseur in a broad spectrum of jewelry. His collections include natural shell, diamond, and precious gemstone pieces and are a refreshing departure from typical designs.

ORIS A COMPANY WITH A CONSCIENCE

Top Left: Seals native to the beaches and water of the Wadden Sea tidal flats.

Oris is at its very best when it engages its extra- ordinary mechanical timepiece collections in its broader mission of benefiting the world. Whether in regard to its Change for the Better initiative or the not-so-simple task of building a better watch, Oris enlists well over a century of expertise to energize its credo, “Things must make sense.” Since its founding in the Swiss town of Hölstein in 1904, Oris has been crafting fine timepieces, which today are known for their practical features and in-house-developed mechanical movements. Its collections generally fall into one of four categories: diving, aviation, motor sport, or culture. Perfectly fit for sport or business, each is a handsome example of the company’s pledge to defy convention and follow its own star. Over the past decade, Oris has successfully worked with a number of non-profit environmental groups and social change organizations in its ongoing quest to make a difference. With the intuitive understanding that authentic change grows from within, the company has set an aggressive goal of becoming climate neutral this year.

The new standard

Oris is taking action to ramp up its recycling, reduce emissions, and generally improve sustainability at the manufacturing facilities in Hölstein. Even its watch straps are considered from an environmental standpoint — many are made from chrome-free tanned leather or recycled plastic. The Dat Watt Limited Edition brings awareness to the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat to help fulfill its mission to conserve the endangered Wadden Sea, the largest unbroken tidal flat in the world. Located in the southeastern part of the North Sea, it is home to about 10,000 animal species endangered by pollution and climate change. The DatWatt Limited Edition timepiece features the lunar cycle and tidal range in the Northern Hemisphere via the Oris-developed Pointer Moon function, which was created for professional divers. The central white pointer hand, once aligned with the correct day in the 29.5-day lunar cycle, indicates the corresponding tidal range. The same hand reveals the waxing and waning of the moon. This limited edition collection includes 2,009 watches, commemorating the year the Wadden Sea became a UNESCO World Heritage site. Not so incidentally, the name “Dat Watt” promotes preservation of another kind: in the local dialect, it translates to Wadden Sea. Oris ProPilot TLP Limited Edition promotes NATO pilot training. Oris, in partnership with the Tactical Leadership Program (TLP), created the ProPilotTLP Limited Edition. Founded in 1978,TLP is an elite pilot training school based in Spain that prepares NATO coalition pilots for tactical air operations. Limited to 750 pieces worldwide, the watch has a green dial inspired by TLP pilots’ flight overalls, beige detailing recalling the eagle in the TLP logo, and a green textile strap. The Big Crown ProPilot stainless steel case is coated in anti- glare gunmetal gray PVD.

JUDITH RIPKA’S LATEST COLLECTIONS ARE INSPIRED BY THOUGHTS OF ROMANCE AND FARAWAY DESTINATIONS. WANDER LUSTER

Romantic destinations have always ranked high among the influences on Judith Ripka’s collections, but the house’s latest jewelry has elevated that idea to showcase quixotic themes that transport your thoughts to faraway places. From its royal palaces to its iconic waltzes and the grace of its Lipizzaner horses, Vienna is the latest European city to inspire a Judith Ripka collection. Creative director Christina Caruso spent time

in the Austrian capital to capture its refined elegance in her Vienna collection. Crafted in sterling silver and 18k gold, the Vienna collection shines with a particular emphasis on the symmetry that might be found in a palace’s façade, as well as elements that evoke thoughts of horse bridles and other equestrian themes. Caruso visited the city’s famed Spanish Riding School, dedicated to the sport of classical dressage and training of Lipizzaner

horses since 1572, before conceptualizing designs like the Vienna wide cuff, which blends symmetry with stirrups and other equestrian-inspired elements to create a piece that feels equal parts classic and modern. Caruso also employed the on-trend mix of sterling silver and yellow gold in her Vienna single-link hoop earrings and double- link stud earrings, while her Vienna bypass ring combines an equestrian motif with a stacked look and a silver-gold combination, resulting in a piece that effortlessly transitions from day to evening.
