WELCOME
CELEBRATING LIFE & LOVE Thank you for allowing us to celebrate some of life’s most special moments with you.
G
ratitude has many meanings, but one definition states it’s the quality of being thankful. It means showing appreciation and returning kindness. We feel grateful when we consider our blessings, our good fortune, and even when we’ve been given grace. Gratitude also implies a feeling of joy. We are joyful when we remember fun times, when we think about those we love, and when we recall a special milestone event. This is why I love jewelry — not just because it is beautiful and sparkly, but because it is so often a symbol of love, a sign of commitment, a reward for an achievement, or a reminder of a treasured someone now gone but not forgotten. Jewelry is frequently the tangible item that seems to embody the feelings — the celebrations — of one’s life and loves. Just take a tour through anyone’s jewelry collection and stories about their life will flow. The jewelry I treasure the most are pieces that I’ve been given as gifts from people I love. But jewelry is also a great form of self-expression. In fact, that’s what fashion is all about, right? One way we get to know people is through their style. Each of us has a favorite piece of jewelry; sometimes it is our favorite just because it speaks to us — it seems to represent us. We feel good when we wear it and occasionally, can even feel empowered by it. And yes, we enjoy the beauty of it. This holiday season, we are excited to present our debut issue of Wesche Jewelers Magazine . We hope you enjoy seeing the latest fashion trends in jewelry sprinkled with a few lifestyle articles and even a recipe for a French martini. We appreciate you, our many friends and clients, who have given us the opportunity to serve you, the honor of sharing part of your life with you, and the pleasure of simply enjoying your company when you visit our store. With much gratitude, all of us at Wesche Jewelers wish you a wonderful holiday season, Holly Wesche

HISTORY OF EXCELLENCE
BY JENNIFER BRUGH
WESCHE JEWELERS CONTINUES A FAMILY LEGACY THAT BEGAN BEFORE ITS TIME. Jewelry is Family
L eaving a legacy isn’t just about carving out a path of your own; it’s also about leaving your mark on the world — something that says you were here. That is precisely what Jim and June Wesche did when they opened the doors to the first Wesche Jewelers location over 45 years ago. Now, Holly Wesche, the oldest Wesche daughter, is carrying on that legacy, continuing the path her family started while carving out a new one of her own. A FAMILY AFFAIR To know your family history is one thing. But to continue living it is another story, entirely. For Holly, it all comes so naturally, you might even say it’s in her blood. “At family
gatherings while growing up, there were naturally always discussions about the jewelry business,” Holly says. “Most importantly, there were lots of stories about relationships with clients and the important role the gift of jewelry had played in their life. These stories made an impression on me.” On her father’s side, Holly’s grandparents owned and operated Wesche’s Antiques in Orlando for 40 years. Here, Hank and Charlotte Wesche sold estate and antique jewelry, furniture, and other fine accessories. On her mother’s side, Holly’s great-aunt and uncle, Herb and June Underwood, founded Underwood Jewelers in Jacksonville, FL. It was here that Holly’s mother, June, worked for several years as a young woman, developing a deep love for jewelry and the smile it brought to every face. Holly’s maternal grandparents,
Donald and Helen Woods, also worked at Underwood Jewelers, further adding to the family atmosphere clients came to enjoy and can still feel to this day. Eventually, Holly’s father, Jim Wesche, joined Underwood Jewelers, taking on various roles and responsibilities. Throughout his 13 years with the Underwoods, Jim did everything from running errands to selling jewelry to eventually running the company. By the time he was named Vice President, Jim was overseeing daily operations for seven stores and seeing to the success of 175 employees — Knowledge and experience he took with him as he and June ventured out on their own. THOSE EARLY YEARS On October 27, 1977, Jim and June purchased their first storefront in a strip center along the beachside of Melbourne, FL. Here, Wesche Jewelers was born. But like anything in life, new beginnings rarely come without growing pains. And for a short time, the Wesche’s were doubtful their new adventure would succeed. Yet, thanks to the dedication and hard work of loyal employees, Wesche Jewelers survived and soon began to thrive.

Jim & June Wesche
THOSE EARLY YEARS On October 27, 1977, Jim and June purchased their first storefront in a strip center along the beachside of Melbourne, FL. Here, Wesche Jewelers was born. But like anything in life, new beginnings rarely come without growing pains. And for a short time, the Wesche’s were doubtful their new adventure would succeed. Yet, thanks to the dedication and hard work of loyal employees, Wesche Jewelers survived and soon began to thrive. Just three years later, the company had doubled in size, and Jim and June began thinking about what came next. The answer? A second location in the Melbourne Square Mall — the first regional mall in the area. Doors to the new store opened in 1982, and the Wesche’s never looked back. CONTINUING THE FAMILY LEGACY Like her father and great-uncle, Holly has seen and expanded on a vision for the future of Wesche Jewelers. After joining the family
enterprise in 1985, Holly worked closely with her father learning all aspects of the business, while her mother continued to handle the bookkeeping. She also spent time completing her degree, becoming a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America, then earning the advanced title of Certified Gemologist from the American Gem Society. Eventually, Holly was running most of the day-to-day operations while her parents traveled the world. Over the next two decades, Holly continued the Wesche family legacy while carving a path of her own. Following her purchase of the business in March 2002, Holly bought a three-acre plot of land and built a brand-new store, where Wesche Jewelers has resided since 2006. For Holly, continuing a family legacy in jewelry also means being a part of the industry on a national stage. She was very active with the Florida Jewelers Association, having served as its president, just like her father and great- uncle before her. That involvement led to her
being elected to the national Jewelers of America Board, where she has served for 14 years. From 2019-2021, she sat in the same seat as her great- uncle, Herb Underwood, serving as Chair of the Jewelers of America Board of Directors — being just the third female to do so in the organization’s 116-year history. She’s also a well-known figure in the Independent Jewelers Organization, the American Gem Society, and the Continental Buying Group, just to name a few. To this day, the Wesche family legacy can be found in nearly every nook and cranny of Wesche Jewelers. From the original five employees in 1977 to eighteen in 2022, Wesche Jewelers has seen many seasons of growth and has no plans of slowing down. We are honored to be your trusted family jeweler and love being a part of all kinds of special moments. As one of the largest independent jewelers in the state, Wesche Jewelers is not only carrying on its family legacy, we’re helping you carry on your own.

CUSTOM CREATIONS
ONE-OF- YOUR -KIND
LET US CRAFT A PIECE AS UNIQUE AS YOU I f you can dream it, we can make it. Whether it is a new idea or a dated piece that needs a new look, we will work with you to make your vision a reality. At its core, custom jewelry encompasses individually made-to-order designs that are often one-of-a-kind. But the possibilities are more varied than at first glance. It could be as simple as engraving initials or as multifaceted as redesigning a forgotten treasure. It might start with a collectible bead charm that evolves into a unique thematic bracelet or sketch of an idea that becomes the next family heirloom. Each piece is created as a 3D computer model using the latest design technology. This removes all the guesswork and allows you to be involved in every stop of the design process. Next, our jewelers use the finest materials and gemstones available, and everything is finished according to the highest standards of craftsmanship. To assist you with your custom creation, we have a very talented jewelry designer on staff, Carrie Williams. In addition, many of our sales professionals are skilled in guiding you through the custom design process. Whether you’re looking for a sentimental jewelry piece for a special occasion or an engagement ring she’ll
adore for years to come, our exceptionally skilled artisans can help you bring your imagination to life!

NATURE’S BOUNTY
BY LISA VERHAEGHE
OBSESSED WITH SUCCULENTS
Succulent plants, also known as succulents, are plants with thickened, fleshy, and engorged features enabling them to retain water in arid climates or dry soil conditions.
I ’ve always loved plants — mostly typical houseplants, like ivy and fig, because I knew how little attention they needed. At some point though, I was browsing my local nursery and a section of colorful cacti and succulents caught my eye. I decided to give them a try and buy a little cactus. I put it in a decorative pot, added some rocks — to give it that finished look — and set it close to a window so it would have plenty of sun. I soon noticed my little cactus was doing really well on the window sill, so I decided to put one just like it outside my front door. At the time I was living in a townhouse where my only options were indoor plants or plants that would fit on my front steps. To my surprise, the one outside (which got even more sunlight) grew twice as fast! I was hooked, and I started to accumulate more pots filled with a variety of colorful cactuses and succulents outside my now fashionable front door/welcome-to-my-home area — but
I quickly realized that this high-sun area was going to require special consideration. It was time to use larger pots! I put a decorative container on each step and filled each with a variety of succulents. Before long, I had my own flourishing garden — without even having a yard! Soon I was buying a colorful variety and making succulent bouquets! I love the beautiful colors and different flower shapes — and my neighbors enjoyed them too! Pro tip: tightly surround your succlents with small rocks to give them a little touch of elegance. Today, I like to give them as gifts, since they don’t wither and die, like petal flowers do. Instead, they fill out, reproduce, and grow to be more and more colorful! It’s fun to watch them blossom and thrive, and they remind the recipient of your gift for months, if not years, to come. The perfect gift that keeps on giving.
If you’ve ever wanted a plant that accepted, or even thrived, under the least possible care, then a succulent might be just the plant for you! Here are some of the most popular succulents you can find at your local home supply store or nursery:

A PRIMER ON VINTAGE + ESTATE JEWELRY
WHAT’S
OLD IS
IF YOU LOVE VINTAGE + ESTATE JEWELRY THEN WESCHE JEWELERS IS THE PLACE TO SHOP. WE CARRY A LARGE SELECTION FOR OUR DISCERNING CLIENTS!
P reviously owned jewelry is a joy to own on so many levels. It can round out your collection with styles that are no longer being made. It can add some vintage flair to your wardrobe or infuse it with modern pieces that need a new home. You might even be looking for that special item to serve as the “something old” in your bridal ensemble. Many estate finds are unique. Some are signed pieces from elite jewelry houses like Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, and others are simply fine examples of jewelry from various eras by unknown makers. There are distinctions to be made between estate, antique, and vintage, as well as demarcations between periods, including Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Retro. Estate simply means the jewelry has had a previous owner. Pre-owned jewelry could be from
any era; it could be antique or close to brand-new. The word estate has its origins from a time when pre-owned jewelry was part of an estate. Now it simply means pre-owned. Antique jewelry refers to pieces that are over 100 years old. Some antique jewelry is made to extremely high standards, crafted at a time when generally only the very wealthy could buy jewelry. Other pieces are quite delicate and in need of restoration if they are to be worn safely. When jewelry is between 50 and 100 years old, it is classified as vintage. Art Deco remains the most enduring design period in estate jewelry, a market favorite for its timeless qualities. Diamonds were very popular in the period, often combined with rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.
Art Nouveau is more decorative. It is all about flowing curves, often with floral, leaf, and scrolling vine motifs. Other common motifs include dragonflies, peacocks, snakes, and the female silhouette. Rene Lalique and Louis Comfort Tiffany were major designers of Art Nouveau jewelry. Art Nouveau flourished between 1880 and 1914, which qualifies much of it as antique, whereas Art Deco emerged later, in 1920, lasting until about 1940. An overlapping style, Retro jewelry refers to pieces created in the late 1930s and 1940s that are a little more futuristic looking than traditional Art Deco. If you like estate and vintage jewelry, then you’ll enjoy browsing through our estate jewelry department at Wesche Jewelers.

THE MODERN WOMAN. WHETHER IT’S A SPECIAL OCCASION, JUST BECAUSE, OR TREATING YOURSELF, THERE IS A PERFECT PIECE FOR EVERYONE.”
REDEFINING LUXURY
“O ur jewelry speaks to the woman who trusts her own fashion sense,” says Kathy Dayan, creative director of Los Angeles-based jewelry brand Shy Creation. “When I started designing, my goal was to make fine quality jewelry more wearable. I wanted to use natural diamonds in designs that women could wear every moment, designs that would move with them during their daily lives, float on their skin as part of their very being, jewels that are striking yet effortless.” Shy Creation is all about sophisticated luxury and contemporary styling, including pieces that can be mixed and matched, stacked and layered, and collected. Favorites include the Amor Heart, which has transformed the traditional heart into an edgier, more contemporary design with an elongated point. Another bestseller is the diamond-set Cuban Links series. In Kathy’s interpretation, the links lie comfortably flat on the wrist or the neck, and they come in different widths, from wide bold looks to thinner, daintier designs. The Kate collection is another favorite line, which includes the new Paperclip series of highly polished gold links interlocked with diamond pavé links. Delicate or bold, Paperclips can be combined with Cuban Links to create a rich fancy look. “Yellow gold is making a comeback,” says Kathy. “We use high-polished yellow bold gold with diamonds to create a daring yet casual look.” Shy’s latest bezel- set diamond tennis bracelets also feature bold gold highlighted with diamonds. This tapered design creates softs lines that make a woman’s wrist appear more feminine and delicate. Being fashionable is only part of Shy’s story. Not only do its jewels look beautiful from the top, but the brand also takes great care to finish the back, so that each piece feels smooth to the touch and comfortable next to the skin. Whether for casual wear or a formal occasion, Shy Creation’s attention to detail is truly luxury redefined.

The versatility of this piece is another reason it’s so appealing, equally stylish with a crisp white shirt and a pair of jeans as it is with a sleek black dress.

PEARL COCKTAIL RING Statement cocktail rings, traditionally worn on the middle finger, will never go out of style, and lately it’s the oversized pearl that’s enjoying the spotlight in this design. Indeed, rather than opting for a gemstone or crystal, seek out a large-size pearl — in either white or cream, or perhaps a spectacular orange or black hue — as the statement stone in a ring that’s sure to be noticed.

CONTEMPORARY CUISINE
START AT THE BOTTOM An oversized wooden cutting board is classic, but options abound. Really, a flat, clean slab of just about anything will work. A cookie sheet with a decorative towel? Great idea! A scrap piece of plywood washed and rinsed? That works. Directly on the counter top, table, or kitchen island? Absolutely! Hint: layout some parchment paper first for easy cleanup.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MEAT The original charcuterers in 15th-century France would cure and store meats to be sold throughout the year in local villages. In the modern English vernacular, charcuterie evokes visions of piled platters of various fresh delicacies, but the meat is the star of the show. Start by selecting and placing a variety of flavorful cured meats around your board and build everything else around them.
VISUAL FIESTA Look for ways to make it visually enticing. Bright reds, earthy greens and browns, warm, buttery yellows, rich purples, and pops of white make eyes open wide and mouths water in preparation for that first delicious bite.

CONTRAST IS KEY Obviously, flavor is important, but don’t forget texture. Every great charcuterie board offers options to build a complex sensory experience with
every bite. Crunchy crackers and croutons, creamy Gouda and goat cheese, spicy pastrami, hot peppers, cooling cream cheese and fresh veggies, sweet fruits and jams, salty nuts, sinus-clearing Dijon mustard, tangy olives and pickles — the options are endless. Make it your own, and make it exciting and fun with plenty of contrast.
ZHUZH IT UP Looking for that little extra wow? transform your board from everyday to oo-la-la with herbal garnishes. Fresh, colorful aromatics lift your presentation to that next level, and they smell good too! Bright green sprigs of rosemary, thyme, mint, lavender, or basil leaves poking out here and there, filling the spaces and celebrating the bountiful display of yummies, are the cherry on top! Mmmmm, come to think of it, fresh cherries are a great idea too!

DIAMOND CREATIONS
of
COMING AGE N o other jewel shines as brightly as a diamond. An indelible symbol of eternity, beauty, and indivisibility, it’s no wonder the diamond has become emblematic of tradition, especially around engagement and marriage. And inextricably woven into the fabric of our desire to wear diamonds is the notion that a Diamond is Forever . But like most things, traditions evolve. We’re here to write the next chapter by creating a diamond without compromise.
As a division of one of the world’s largest diamond companies, we have the scale to create diamonds and jewelry unmatched in quality and value. But more importantly, we’re revolutionizing how workers are treated in the production of diamonds, as we prioritize the well-being of our employees and their communities at large. Led by a deep commitment to environ- mental sustainability, we’ve taken real action to offset the energy-intensive process of growing diamonds. Beyond the millions of trees we’ve planted, our laboratory and jewelry manufacturing facilities are solar-powered and carbon-neutral, so you can wear a Rêvelation diamond knowing that it’s had a minimal impact on the planet.
As proof of our total commitment to our principles, we’ve become certified under the SCS 007 standard, meaning a third party has assessed that Rêvelation complies with rigorous ethical and environmental requirements. As stunning as our diamonds are, we believe they possess an essential inner brilliance that can’t be measured in carats. Every Rêvelation diamond reflects our promise to build a more equitable, more beautiful world — one you can co-create with us; because now, a Diamond is for Everyone . In keeping with this new way of thinking about diamonds, we have also engaged in a new way of creating a dealer network. We’re selecting Independent jewelers with whom we have common ground, who share our values, and who demonstrate through their actions a set of principles that will stand the test of time. We’re very proud to have Wesche Jewelers as our exclusive Revelation dealer in Brevard County.
With changing traditions come changing values. To a new generation, as well as to members of prior generations, whose sensibilities are also evolving, questions regarding social, environmental, and ethical considerations are more important than ever. Rêvelation exists to create a diamond that truly reflects the values of its wearer — one that’s as virtuous as it is luxurious.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

I t takes hours and hours of design and craftmanship to create a piece of jewelry, and with today’s “more is more” styling, each subtle detail plays an important role in the overall composition of each amazing ring.
AS YOU STROLL THROUGH OUR STORE AND GAZE AT THE HUGE SELECTION OF ENGAGEMENT RINGS, YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW HOW MUCH TIME GOES INTO CREATING EVERY BEAUTIFUL RING.
PRONGS You’ve heard the term “gold standard,” and when it comes to prongs that hold significant diamonds and gemstones, the standard is, in fact, gold — karat gold is the most widely used precious metal. The alloyed mix of complimentary metals with pure gold gives karat gold magnificent strength and durability. Although gold does tend to wear down over time, a little maintenance can go a long way to maintaining its longevity. We recommend coming in annually to get your rings cleaned and the prongs checked. It’s a free service and the best way to guard against losing a stone from its setting, securing your ring for generations to come.

FACETS Of the 4Cs, cut (and facet arrangement) is arguably the most important. A well-cut diamond maximizes the reflection of light, enabling the facets to act as tiny mirrors that bounce light back, creating a spectacular sparkle and shine! Facet arrangement varies by shape, but no matter which cut you choose, each facet has an important job to do. The most common diamond, the round brilliant, contains 58 different facets, with the crown (the top of the diamond) and the pavilion (the bottom of the diamond) having the most effect on the light show we witness from above.
PAVÉ Who doesn’t want more sparkle and shine for less? Pavé — French for paving — gives you all that sparkle and shine without spending the big bucks. In these settings, smaller diamonds accentuate the larger diamond by creating a field of sparkle. In many of these rings, the gold between each stone is barely visible, further enhancing the look of the entire piece. Pavé is most commonly used in halo settings, where the larger center diamond is highlighted and accentuated by the sparkle of all the smaller stones. But pavé can also flow down the sides of the engagement ring or be a part of a wedding band, providing that ultimate sparkle and shine every bride dreams of.

THE HOTTEST ENGAGEMENT RINGS OF 2022 CELEBRITY BUZZ
JENNIFER LOPEZ, MEGAN FOX AND OTHER A-LIST STARS ARE DRIVING DIAMOND TRENDS WITH THE SPECTACULAR RINGS THAT ANNOUNCE THEIR NEWLY ENGAGED STATUS
Simone Biles
BY LAURIE BROOKINS
J ennifer Lopez knows a thing or two about engagement rings — she’s received exactly six diamond stunners over the course of her romantic life (Elizabeth Taylor, by comparison, accepted 10, with eight marriages), and almost every time, the current Mrs. Affleck has caused a frenzy in diamond trends with the stunner adorning her third finger, left hand. Consider that when Lopez and Ben Affleck experienced their first engagement in 2002, the Oscar-winning producer, director and star of Argo and The Town presented his fiancée with a Harry Winston ring highlighting a 6.1-carat fancy intense pink diamond, which instantly caused an uptick in interest for that rare, beautiful stone. Fast-forward 20 years, and the second time indeed was the charm, with Affleck presenting a different ring to Lopez in April 2022, nine months after they renewed their relationship, with their surprise wedding in Las Vegas following in July 2022. Unsurprisingly, the second ring drew even more high-wattage attention than the first, due to the social-media omnipresence now part of our everyday lives. Indeed, Lopez’s July 17 Instagram post showing off her wedding band thus far has drawn almost 2.5 million likes, a clear example of the undeniable influence and power of celebrity style. With that in mind, we’re spotlighting a quintet of couples who’ve made headlines with their engagements in 2022, each flashing a different ring style and drawing intense interest from anyone who’s eyeing a diamond sparkler in his or her future.
Betrothed Couple: Abigail Breslin + Ira Kunyansky Engagement-Ring Style: Round, Brilliant-Cut Diamond on a Pavé Band The actress known for Little Miss Sunshine, My Sister’s Keeper and Zombieland became engaged to her longtime boyfriend in late February, an- nouncing the news on Instagram with a close-up image of her hand wearing what remains the most sought-after diamond cut among engagement-ring styles: a round brilliant, with Breslin’s stone to- taling roughly 2 carats and placed in a prong set- ting of 18k white gold and finished with a triple row of diamond-pavé on the band. That latter detail
Betrothed Couple: Simone Biles + Jonathan Owens Engagement-Ring Style: Oval Diamond with Halo Accent on a Pavé Band
is indeed freshening up the look of the ultra-classic round cut, with the bonus of added sparkle.
The high-wattage gymnast and seven-time Olympic medalist became engaged to the Houston Texan defensive back on Valentine’s Day 2022, with Owens presenting his newly minted fiancée with the shape that’s trending higher that all others at the moment: an oval-cut diamond, in this case totaling roughly 3 carats, surrounded with a halo accent of diamonds and set on a micropavé-diamond band. It’s no surprise that oval diamonds are trending, as they feel fresher and younger than classic round or emerald cuts, but Biles’s ring has added exponential interest to this stone (for context, her engagement post drew 3.14 million Instagram likes).

Betrothed Couple: Jodie Sweetin + Mescal Wasilewski
Engagement-Ring Style: Marquise-Cut Diamond on a Pavé Band
Betrothed Couple: Megan Fox + Machine Gun Kelly Engagement-Ring Style: Toi et Moi Diamond and Emerald Ring
Full House fans have known Sweetin since she starred as
Stephanie on that iconic ABC comedy, first appearing on the show at just five years old, and since then she’s starred in the Fuller House sequel and a slew of TV movies, so it’s no surprise her unique engagement ring made news. Sweetin became engaged to clinical social worker Mescal Wasilewski in January and soon after the actress posted a look at a ring that has sparked social-media conversation for its take on an increasing trend: vintage-inspired designs. Sweetin’s marquise-cut diamond, surrounded by a marquise-shaped platinum frame accented with more diamonds and set on a platinum band with diamond pavé, makes an instant statement that this is a bride who appreciates vintage style.
The Transformers actress and the popular rapper and musician announced their engagement in January with perhaps one of the most overt romantic statements a couple can make in their engagement style: a “Toi et Moi” ring, custom- designed by London-based Stephen Webster. French for “You and Me,” toi et moi rings have gained popularity recently for both their fanciful sentiment and their ability to showcase not one, but two spectacular stones that can be tailored to a couple’s individual and combined tastes. Fox and Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, chose a diamond and emerald, both in pear cuts and together totaling roughly seven carats, set on a platinum band with diamond pavé. But the style invites a wealth of customization in its ability to mix and match both the cuts and colors of stones, from a pair of emerald-cut or heart-shaped diamonds to a stunning gemstone alongside a diamond, as Fox and Kelly chose. Betrothed Couple: Jennifer Lopez + Ben Affleck Engagement-Ring Style: Three-Stone Ring Showcasing a Green Fancy Vivid Diamond Lopez continues to drive the trend in colored diamonds as the center stones in engagement rings, perfect for fashion-forward brides who seek a design that feels decidedly unique. Affleck took the hint that Lopez considers green to be her lucky color, choosing an 8.5-carat green fancy vivid diamond, an exceedingly rare stone that could be worth up to $10 million. As is often done with colored diamonds or gemstones, Lopez’s green diamond is set in prongs of 18k yellow gold to enhance the design’s focus on its center stone,
