The Legendary C.D. Peacock Doors
In 1927 C.D. Peacock designed a store that far surpassed any jewelry store ever created. It was within the Palmer House Hotel at State Street and Monroe. Everything was extravagant — beyond the brilliant jewelry within the cases, the ceiling detail was elaborate and the exterior doors were especially magnificent. Commissioned by C.D. Peacock and designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, the original three brass Peacock doors are still on display to this day.
