Henne Magazine Fall/Holiday 2020

H

ello and well wishes to all of you! When I wrote last year’s letter, I couldn’t have imagined what 2020 would bring. I don’t need to tell you how life has changed, because you know all too well about the challenges that COVID-19 has brought. We witnessed tragedies, anger, and backlash due to racial inequalities that still exist in our communities. We struggled with political turmoil and worried about our country’s future. This year certainly hasn’t brought us what we wanted, but I know that it has brought me quite a few new perspectives. I was reminded that life can be both bitter and sweet. Businesses, schools and schedules were completely disrupted and many of us lost the ability to spend time with family and friends. Our plans were changed and we were forced to abandon or modify weddings, parties, classes, and vacations. And yet, there were positives. My family got to spend a lot of quality time together enjoying simple pleasures. We learned how to live with less on our calendars. My son, Jack, heads to college next year, with our three younger boys following him every two years thereafter. I’m thankful for every extra moment my wife and I got to spend with them. At Henne we had several clients postpone their weddings, and our hearts broke for them. We understand the joy and excitement leading up to that special day. We also rejoiced with others who got engaged and chose to marry during the pandemic. We watched crowds unite peacefully while demanding justice. We saw police officers and civilians embrace (albeit with masks), while working toward racial reconciliation. On a personal note, I joined a group of businessmen, both black and white, dedicated to better understanding the world we live in.

As far as business goes, this year forced us to meet our clients’ needs in innovative and creative ways. Our customers are always our top priority. Serving you in the midst of a pandemic meant paying extra attention to health and safety, while being mindful of our customers’ comfort levels. Our goal was, and continues, to be able to operate safely and to take every precaution necessary while remaining fully functional. To that end, we launched virtual concierge services and became comfortable helping customers via Zoom, Facetime, web chat, and other means of virtual selling. Every year I feel an immense sense of gratitude for you, our clients. I’m not sure words can express how grateful we are for your patience, loyalty, and trust, especially this year. I can’t say enough about the amazing team here at Henne Jewelers, who have gone above and beyond every day. I’m proud of how they’ve handled so much adversity while striving to continue being your jewelers for life.

I pray that you and your loved ones have stayed healthy. Each one of you has undoubtedly experienced turmoil in 2020. It is my sincere hope that we can continue to navigate these waters together and we will see you soon, whether in our store or virtually. May 2021 be filled with peace, health and special moments, big and small. We still have much to celebrate.
