WHAT IS YOUR PREFERRED ARTISTIC MEDIUM, AND WHAT LED YOU TO CHOOSE IT? My preferred medium is mixed media. It all began during my senior year of college. While I’ve always leaned toward painting, specifically acrylic and oil, I found myself yearning to incorporate texture into my work. I started attaching various textures to my canvases, scavenging materials from my parents’ craft room in the house where I grew up. String, yarn, beads, buttons, pipe cleaners, puff balls, perler beads, and fabrics — all found their place on my canvases. Once these textures were affixed, I would paint over them. This unique approach immediately drew me in.
