just off the road at 3381 Southall Road near Highway 46. There sat an amazing log cabin which we later learned was built in the 1820s and now houses the gift shop, tasting room, and offices. Lee L. Kennedy opened the Leiper’s Fork Distillery in the summer of 2016. It is his goal to partner with the community to bring back the history and heritage of small batch whiskey production to Williamson County. Williamson County, Tennessee has long been known for its rich cultural and geographical heritage. Many of the early settlers in the area were of Scots-Irish descent, having traveled west through the Cumberland Gap and over the Appalachian Mountains, from Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Many of them crossed these mountain passes with their stills on their backs, bringing with them the time-honored tradition of creating hand-crafted small batch whiskey. In a world of mass production and corporate fads, it is the Leiper’s Fork Distillery’s goal to achieve long-term authenticity by using age-old traditions,
paying attention to every detail, and carrying unquenchable passion for the small batch whiskey they produce. To that end, Leiper’s Fork Distillery is creating high-end premium whiskeys using local ingredients and pure limestone filtered water, resulting in superior whiskeys with a signature taste. Some must-haves include Leiper’s Fork Tennesee Whiskey. This four years old 100 proof whiskey is 70% corn, 15% rye and 15% malted barley with notes of chocolate, coffee, plum, dark cherry, caramel and honey with a mix of baking spices. The Leiper’s Fork Bourbon swaps out the 15% rye for 15% wheat and has aromas of caramel apple, chocolate, oak and brown sugar with a taste of vanilla, butterscotch and dried dark fruit. You also can’t go wrong with their Straight Rye Whiskey with hints of cinnamon and molasses or the crisp and clear unaged Old Natchez Trace White Whiskey. We encourage you to take a beautiful country drive out to Leiper’s Fork, tour the distillery, listen to some good country music, and enjoy all that this special village has to offer.
L ast year I had the opportunity to rent a place in Leiper’s Fork while visiting family in Franklin, TN over the holidays. I arrived at my quaint stone cottage on a sunny, winter day and quickly made my way into the village for some fun shopping and eats. In the David Arms Gallery, I picked up some whiskey tumblers wrapped with custom leather casings. Naturally, now I had to find some fantastic whiskey and the wise salesperson pointed me down the road to the Leiper’s Fork Distillery. I found the place easy enough as it sits

The Pilot’s Watch 43 Top Gun, a staple three-handed model in the collection, also has a tough ceramic case with a titanium caseback and crown. The newest edition contains the automatic caliber 82100 with a Pellaton winding system that has been reinforced with ceramic components so that it builds up a power reserve of 60 hours. It is protected from the effects of magnetic fields by a soft-iron inner case, making it one of the most reliable and long lasting movements in the pilot’s watch collections. Before the days of reliable cockpit instrumentation panels, pilots navigated the airways with precise chronographs. Some of the world’s most important advancements in watchmaking were driven by the need for accurate navigational chronometry, a tradition honored by IWC, a heritage purveyor of pilot’s watches. The Top Gun edition of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII is the civilian version of the special military issue that IWC has long been produced for graduates of the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School. These pilots have completed the rigorous Top Gun course, allowing them
to use the title “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor.” The watch has a likewise elite case made of extremely hard and scratch- resistant black zirconium oxide ceramic. The Top Gun Chronograph is also built with tough, corrosion-resistant ceramic and titanium in order to withstand the tortuous maneuvers of the U.S. Navy’s jet pilots, during which they are subjected to high g forces. The watches also accompany the pilots on extended missions on aircraft carriers, where they are exposed to the humid, salt-bearing sea air. The Chronograph contains a state-of- the-art movement, the IWC-made automatic caliber 69380, with a 46-hour power reserve.

T he Black Bay Pro is the star of Tudor’s 2022 lineup, which is saying a lot, since the brand is winning the hearts of watch collectors with the rest of its selections this year, including the Black Bay GMT and the Black Bay Chrono. The Black Bay Pro is an easy-wearing 39 mm watch with a steel case and integrated steel bracelet, a hot combination that is right on trend at the moment. You can swap the bracelet for either a new rubber/fabric strap or a snazzy NATO-like fabric strap with a bright gold stripe that looks great next to the gold-color snowflake-shaped hour hand that indicates the
second time zone along the bezel. The fixed steel 24-hour bezel is the index for the watch’s GMT function, via the caliber MT5652 movement, which has a 70-hour power reserve. The BB Pro is a true, all-around sports watch, with 200-meter water resistance. It is widely considered to be inspired by the Explorer model of its sister brand, Rolex, but the Black Bay Pro has its own character, which includes an accessible price and modern styling that is setting its own standard for a new generation of sports watches.

The same movement is used in the new Black Bay GMT S&G (steel and gold), which is aptly being nicknamed the “root beer” for its bi-colored brown and black bezel — a name given to another watch with that color scheme, the Rolex GMT-Master II. The color scheme looks great with the two-tone steel and gold bracelet and gold bezel edges, along with the matching numerals, indexes, hands, and crown. This is a good looking sports watch that is equally at home in the boardroom. The Black Bay Chrono S&G takes the yellow gold a step further to the dial, in a bold rendition of the iconic two-register chronograph, here with black subdials — a reverse dial variant
of the Black Bay Chrono from 2019. The fixed bezel is yellow gold, surrounded by a black anodized aluminum insert with gold-plated markings. The crown and chronograph pushers are all yellow gold. It contains the Tudor caliber MT5813, a high- end integrated chronograph movement with a column wheel and vertical clutch with a power reserve of 70 hours. With 200-meter water-resistance, this watch is a pure substance- plus-style sports watch that, when you consider its accessible price, blows comparable luxury sports watch brands out of the market.

P orsche knows that your time is precious, and every minute in the cockpit is valuable. So they have once again intensified everything that makes a sports car: performance, tuning, and aerodynamics. Time flies. This is your time. Hop in. AERODYNAMICS Porsche aerodynamicists examine every gram of downforce. Because more downforce means greater contact pressure, and, therefore, a higher maximum cornering speed, thanks to the increased wheel load and improved static friction. So the new GT3 now gets through the corner faster and better. The new aerodynamics concept of the 911 GT3 follows the Porsche tradition. It therefore reinforces the principle that “form follows function.” Everything must be subordinated to this: wings, diffusers, air intakes, everything. The aim: excellent grip in every driving scenario. The rear of the new 911 GT3 is striking. A powerful downforce is generated by the new wing attached to the top, as previously seen on the 911 RSR. It is carried by two aluminum supports that are integral to the vehicle bodyshell. The so-called swan-neck connection ensures that there is a clean flow around the underside of the wing, leading to significantly less loss of downforce.
The completely new diffuser with large slats on the rear is aerodynamically efficient. It delivers up to four times more rear downforce than its predecessor.
The front fascia of the new 911 GT3 models have larger openings. The incoming air cools the brakes and the coated air intake grills protect against foreign objects. The air outlets in the central radiator are now integrated into the carbon fiber hood and emphasize the motorsport look. Downforce. Balance. Cooling. Everything must be in harmony. The wide front spoiler lip ensures additional downforce on the front axle. Thanks to the new front diffuser, downforce on the front axle and vehicle balance can now be adjusted in stages. Together with the aerodynamically improved underbody panelling, downforce on the front axle and vehicle balance can be optimally coordinated. The air control elements behind the front wheels have been completely revised and now deliver twice the amount of downforce with the same air resistance. When examining all measures taken to improve aerodynamics, the new 911 GT3 with fixed rear wing achieves approximately 60 percent more downforce than its predecessor.

PERFORMANCE A naturally-aspirated engine, what else? With a full four liters of displacement and six cylinders. In a horizontally opposed layout. In the rear. Just as you would expect from a 911. Six individual throttle bodies ensure a direct engine responsiveness that is easier to control. It is a high-revving concept that scratches the 9,000 mark, and delivers a maximum torque of 346 lb. ft., which is an increase of 7 lb. ft., compared with its predecessor. And of course, this comes with a purebred sound that will blow you away. On these technical bases, the engine of the new 911 GT3 draws a maximum power of 502 hp from exactly 3,996 cm³. With the standard 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), the 911 GT3 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.2 seconds. The thrust? It doesn‘t stop until it reaches an impressive 197mph. The
911 GT3 with its touring package is no less performance-focused. With manual transmission, it passes the 60 mph mark in just 3.7 seconds, with a top track speed of 199 mph. The drive unit of the new 911 GT3 models was developed in the same place where they build their race cars: Flacht. It is modelled on the base engine of the 911 GT3 Cup and is particularly robust and high-performing. The more central position of the rear engine mounts is new. The resulting more streamlined tuning of the mounts reduces engine vibrations and also stabilizes the vehicle, especially during dynamic cornering with bumps. In the new 911 GT3, the 7-speed PDK boasts an even sportier set-up. The shift throws of the gearshift paddles are crisp and short. Alternatively, you can also
change gears directly with the PDK gear selector — in the new 911 GT3, it is based on a manual lever. Lightweight construction goes into every detail to fight for maximum weight saving. The proportion of lightweight components made of aluminum and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) has been increased, without comprimising stability. For the first time in a 911 GT3, a double wishbone front suspension has been installed. The system is derived directly from the 911 RSR. The responsiveness of the front axle has been significantly improved through this axle principle — and the associated lower friction in the shock absorbers. In addition, the new axle geometry allows for a set-up that provides greater cornering stability and even more immediate steering response.

S eiko’s talent for producing durable diver’s watches, first emerging in the 1960s and 1970s, has resulted in timepieces favored by polar researchers and adventurers. Three special edition Heritage models from the Prospex Save the Ocean series combine the brand’s signature dive-watch architecture with glacier-inspired dials. Best of all, Seiko donates a portion of the proceeds from this collection to assist in the care of the world’s oceans through various conservation initiatives. Each watch is powered by the automatic Caliber 6R35, which delivers a generous power reserve of 70 hours, and the stainless steel cases and bracelets are scratch-resistant. Anti-reflective sapphire crystals ensure high legibility from every angle, and the indexes and hands are coated with Lumibrite for further legibility. Thanks in part to screw-down crowns and screw-in casebacks, the watches are water resistant to 200 meters. The deep-blue dial of the 40.5 mm model (SPB297) is based on Seiko’s first diver’s watch from 1965, which proved its reliability when used by members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition from 1966 to 1969. The 42 mm model is a reinterpretation (SPB299) of the landmark 1968 diver’s watch — the first Seiko watch with 300-meter water resistance and a 10-beat automatic movement, beating at a frequency of 36,000 vph. A high frequency movement is always more accurate. The white dial on the 42.7 mm timepiece (SPB301) has the same distinctively shaped case as the 1970 classic that served as inspiration. That watch from the past proved its strength and endurance when worn by the Japanese adventurer Naomi Uemura from 1974 to 1976 when he completed a 12,500 km solo dog-sled run from Greenland to Alaska.
