WELCOME

A Season to Celebrate Together

To Our Valued Clients, Friends & Family,

Welcome to the Fall/Winter 2025 edition of the Bachendorf’s magazine. As the seasons change and we approach the end of another year, I find myself reflecting on our rich history and the exciting path ahead.

Flipping through the pages of this issue, I’m particularly struck by the image that whisks me away to the French Alps. It brings to mind not just the rugged beauty of the mountains, but also the enduring legacy of our business, much like the timeless pieces we present to you. It’s a reminder of how a single photograph can transport us, much like a beautiful piece of jewelry can carry us through time and generations. Speaking of generations, this issue highlights the inspiring milestones of our dedicated employees. It’s their passion and commitment that truly defines the Bachendorf’s experience. This sense of heritage runs deep for us, as we look ahead to a significant milestone in 2027: the 50th anniversary of Bachendorf’s retail. It’s an honor to continue the incredible legacy started by my parents, Elaine and Harry, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for everything we do today. In this issue, we’re thrilled to introduce a new brand to our family: Marina B. The story behind this collection is a beautiful one, created by Marina Bulgari, who brought her own unique vision and artistic spirit to the world of jewelry. Her work showcases how the artistry and passion of a family can create something truly extraordinary. As we look forward to the holiday season and the promise of a new year, we’re grateful for your continued loyalty and trust. We are honored to be a part of your celebrations, both big and small, and look forward to serving you for many more generations to come.

Warmest regards,

Lawrence Bock PRESIDENT + OWNER

DIAMOND DREAMS

By Jillian Sprague

Impact Influence +

THE BOCK FAMILY HAS A DEEP HISTORY IN THE DIAMOND INDUSTRY

As a third-generation jeweler, Lawrence Bock’s family relationships across the diamond industry dates all the way back to early 20th-century Europe. Building on the legacy of his grandfather Abram and his father Harry, Lawrence has continued to develop the passion he inherited to become an influential industry figure in his own right. From our home here in Dallas to cities across the world, Lawrence Bock has a far reach when it comes to making an impact on the world of diamonds. He began traveling early in his career alongside his father and grandfather and today continues that tradition with his wife and daughter. Serving on the board of directors for Jewelers of America, Lawrence works to help advance the causes of professionalism and ethics across the jewelry supply chain and represents the industry regarding government affairs and legislation. He also has served on the board of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and is involved with several philanthropic organizations, including The Cattle Baron’s Ball, The Crystal Charity Ball, Capital for Kids, The Farrah Fawcett Foundation, and the SPCA Fur Ball, where he served as 2024 co-chair. As lawmakers convene in Washington D.C. to discuss policies that affect the jewelry business, Lawrence often heads to our nation’s capital to lobby on behalf of fair regulations.

18 | B ACHENDORF’ S

Lawrence & Katy Bock with Al Cook, Chief Executive Officer, De Beers Group

While other jewelers assume a more passive stance and simply wait to see which stones come across their desks, Lawrence takes control of the selection process and is known throughout the business as having a meticulous eye for buying and matching diamonds. In his early years, he spent six years traveling to Antwerp, Belgium, a global diamond hub since the 15th century, to buy diamonds at the source, ensuring only the finest pieces would be presented to Bachendorf’s discerning clientele. In 2011, Lawrence was inducted into National Jeweler’s Retailer Hall of Fame in the Multi-Store Independent category, recognizing his contributions and entrepreneurial leadership at Bachendorf’s in Dallas/Fort Worth. He was also named one of WATCHPRO USA’s Hot 100 Retail Power Players, a distinction celebrating key leaders in luxury retail who shape trends and uphold industry standards. Thanks to trusted relationships with foundations that are decades, and in some cases, centuries old, Lawrence’s stamp on the industry is set to remain strong. His commitment to developing future talent is also evident through the Bachendorf’s Scholarship for Overall Academic Achievement at Jesuit Dallas, which is awarded to a rising junior or senior who has demonstrated significant academic improvement.

In February, he was invited to De Beers’ global headquarters in London, where he consulted with some of the most respected mining siteholders and diamond supply partners, including meetings with De Beers CEO, Al Cook and the team leading the Sierra Leone mines reformation.

Famous Fac e s Fin e Watch e s It’s no secret that celebrity partnerships have long played a role in shaping watch culture. On red carpets, courts, concert stages, runways, and racetracks, the right timepiece can signal not just style, but identity, taste, and sometimes, even values. Penny Preville FIVE DECADES OF DAZZLING DESIGN

Fifty years ago, Penny Preville set out to create jewelry that speaks directly to the modern woman, giving her space for self-expression while adorning jewelry that feels like art. From her early days of beadwork and feathers to her latest high-jewelry masterpieces, Penny has remained at the forefront of innovation, elegance, and emotional resonance.

At the center of this is the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Bangle: fifty individually numbered golden anniversary bangles in lustrous 18K gold, each personally signed by Penny and adorned with a constellation motif of brilliant-cut diamonds. Already honored with the 2025 Jose Hess Design Award, this heirloom- worthy cuff captures the very essence of her half- century legacy.

Building on her passion for architectural symmetry, the Deco Suite reimagines Art Deco glamour with a two-tiered diamond choker and detachable pendant that seamlessly transitions from grand soirées to modern-day wear. In contrast, the Goddess Suite drapes white gold and diamonds in fluid, bohemian romance, featuring pieces that cascade like liquid light, created for the woman who moves through the world with effortless grace.

THE SERENITY OF THE FOREST SURROUNDING THE STUDIO IN JAPAN WHERE IT IS MADE GRAND SEIKO’S WHITE BIRCH

G Grand Seiko has become widely recognized for its dial treatments, one of the elements that distinguish the Japanese watchmaker as a luxury brand. The dial of the Grand Seiko SLGA009, or White Birch, for example, is grooved to represent the trees of the white birch forest that surrounds the watchmaking studio in Shinshu, Japan, where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are crafted. The watch bears Grand Seiko’s signature Series 9 case with a high zaratsu polish, a mirror-like finish that has attracted the

attention of collectors to the Grand Seiko brand. It measures 40 mm wide by 11.8 mm thick, which makes it solid but wearable. The dial is set with dauphine hands and long chamfered markers. It contains Grand Seiko’s state-of-the-art Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2, a movement that offers an impressive 120-hour (five-day) power reserve and a precision rate of +/- 0.5 seconds per day, or +/- 10 seconds per month. There is a stop seconds function for accurate to-the-second setting and a date function, displayed at 3 o’clock.

In 2017, Seiko Corporation separated its hand-assembled luxury collection, Grand Seiko, from its lower-priced core Seiko lines, making it a stand-alone marque with its own distribution and design philosophy. The move represented Seiko’s push into the luxury segment of the U.S. watch market. Today, Grand Seiko is one of the leading luxury watch brands, known for its highly crafted and finished watches at prices that represent true value.

TRAVEL SPAIN

By Gary Wollenhaupt

Coastal Splendor Awaits SPAIN’S

S Spain continues to rise on every list of trending travel destinations in 2026, and for good reason. You can’t go wrong with European cuisine, plentiful wine, golf courses, and a favorable exchange rate for American travelers. You could fill a book with all that Spain has to offer, and many people have done so. We’ll focus here on two extremes of Spain’s incomparable coastal destinations: Costa Brava and Andalucía, two regions on the north and south of the coastline.

40 | B ACHENDORF’ S

COSTA BRAVA First, let’s explore Costa Brava. The name “Wild Coast” refers to the coastal region of northeastern Spain, specifically in the province of Girona. It’s a popular destination for European travelers escaping the dreary winter months to seek sun, sand, and flavorful dishes. After flying into Barcelona, it’s easy to travel by car throughout Costa Brava. Explore secluded beaches and dine with the locals at a quaint fishing village, sampling the catch of the day and handcrafted wines you won’t find anywhere else. The weather and pace of life in the Costa Brava have attracted many notable figures over the years, including the unlikely pair of Albert Einstein and Salvador Dalí. The artist was born in Figueres, which is home to the Dalí Theatre-Museum, which Dalí designed himself. For more Dalí dalliances, visit the Dalí House and Museum in nearby Portlligat. The noted physicist lodged at La Residencia, the first hotel in Cadaqués, which opened in 1904. The current owner knew Dalí and transformed the boutique hotel into an homage to his old friend. The hotel overlooking the sea houses more Dalí works than the museum. To find your way off the beaten path, rent a motorboat in Blanes. You can explore bays and beaches that are only accessible from the water. Spend a day snorkeling and picnicking on your own to create unique memories. The main attraction is the region’s pristine beaches, from Lloret del Mar to Calella de Palafrugell. Experience luxury with private catamaran cruises, jet skiing, and parasailing for breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean. In the rush to the beaches, don’t overlook the region’s other attractions: national parks like Cap de Creus, world-class golf courses, and rustic villas. You’ll find destinations ready to cater to travelers who value privacy, natural beauty, and personalized activities. In the Costa Brava, the focus is on blending adventure with relaxation, ensuring memorable and scenic moments for discerning travelers.

41 | B ACHENDORF’ S

ANDALUCÍA For the other extreme, head south to the Andalucía region. You’ll see why the Spanish developed the custom of the siesta or afternoon rest. Temperatures average 97°F in summer afternoons, and late evenings will see 95°F on the thermometer. Follow the local customs and retreat to a cool spot to wait for temperatures to drop. Pop back out into the city in the evening and follow the crowds to a late dinner. Some restaurants take reservations as late as 11 p.m. Tap into the tapas culture or reserve time for lunch or dinner at a Michelin- starred restaurant. You can explore on your own or book high-end itineraries featuring luxury accommodations (such as Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville and Alhambra Palace Hotel in Granada), private car transfers, Michelin-starred meals, and exclusive tours of landmarks like the Alhambra, Ronda, and Córdoba’s Mosque-Cathedral. You can sign up for curated experiences such as horse carriage rides, sherry tastings, and authentic flamenco shows, all vetted by local experts for a seamless luxury expedition. For offbeat luxury in Andalucía, stay at boutique fincas (estates) like Finca Buenvino in Huelva’s chestnut forests, castle hotels in Jaén, and Moorish-inspired boutique hotels in Cádiz. The focus is on understated elegance, artisanal experiences, and immersion in local culture, from olive oil tastings to private wine cellar tours in Jerez. In Costa Brava and Andalucía, Spanish traditions and identity run deep through the language, cuisine, and palpable confidence of the people. Whatever you’re looking for in a vacation, Spain can help you find it.

BACHENDORF’S BRIDE

An Engagement in Europe:

Eric & Fallon’s

44 | B ACHENDORF’ S

How and where did you two first meet?

From the start, Eric knew his pro- posal to Fallon had to be more than a simple question. It needed to reflect the depth of their love, the uniqueness of their bond, and the thoughtfulness he poured into every part of their re- lationship. It had to be one-of-a-kind, deeply personal, and — above all — a surprise. Months before the moment itself, Eric began laying the groundwork. Over dinner with Fallon’s father, Lawrence, he spoke about family, the future, and his excitement to be join- ing their lives together. Lawrence not only gave his blessing but also became an invaluable partner in the planning — especially when it came to the ring. Eric approached the design with equal parts creativity and care. He studied Fallon’s jewelry line, listened for subtle hints she’d left over time, and even drafted the first sketches himself. The heart-shaped diamond was always at the center of his vision, though he jokingly pretended to be uncertain to keep her guessing. With Lawrence’s guidance and expert input, the design went through many revi- sions before arriving at a ring that was elegant, timeless, and perfectly her. With the ring complete, Eric turned to the proposal. The timing aligned with Fallon and Lawrence’s travels through Europe, and Antwerp quickly became the ideal setting — romantic, historic, and unexpected. The plan required secrecy and careful timing. On departure day, Eric drove Fallon to the airport, wished her a safe flight, then quietly circled back, changed into a disguise, and boarded a separate flight that landed ahead of hers.

ERIC: “A friend of ours threw a Christ- mas party that I helped set up. We both arrived early, I knew who she was, she had no clue who I was. I had a chance to talk to her a little bit at the Christmas party but not a lot so when it was over I pushed the group to go out to a bar. I had some friends looking out for me so they made sure we all went and then left us two alone at Bowen House and we got to talk for a few more hours. By the end of it I left with 3-4 new calendar invites for events!”

What’s one thing you absolutely love about your partner? FALLON: “I love how he always has my back and knows how to communicate with me. I trust him to make the same or better calls than I would, and I know that no matter what he does, he’s thinking of my interests as well, and vice versa.”

Photography: Chase Hall Location: Mister Charles Restaurant All Men’s Clothing: Sid Mashburn Hair & Makeup: Jones Beauty Co.

45 | B ACHENDORF’ S

BACHENDORF’S BRIDE

What are some of your favorite activities to do together? FALLON: “Cooking, walking, traveling, even mundane things like going to the grocery store. We are foodies and love experiencing new concepts and places together.” ERIC: “I love how excited she is for new things. Whether that is a new restau- rant, a new routine, a new vacation, she loves her comforts but is never afraid of what is next.”

46 | B ACHENDORF’ S

In Antwerp, Eric checked into a strik- ing hotel he had helped select for its blend of modern Belgian design and botanical charm. Its courtyard, with an ancient tree and a Gothic cathedral in the background, offered a perfect setting. With hours to spare, he wandered cobblestone streets and even befriended locals at a pub — by the time he left, half the room knew the secret he was keeping. That evening, as Fallon prepared for dinner with her father, Lawrence guided her into the courtyard. She rounded the corner and, instead of seeing a familiar dinner companion, found Eric — the man she believed was back home. The surprise was complete. Tears filled her eyes before his, and Lawrence captured the moment on video, preserving the culmination of months of planning. The celebration didn’t end there. To- gether, Eric and Fallon traveled through Belgium, Paris, and Geneva, savoring meals, wine, and the romance of European streets. By chance, Eric’s family was in Paris at the same time, giving them an opportunity to toast the engagement together. Looking back, Eric is most grateful not just for the surprise itself, but for what it represented: a gesture of love, carefully crafted to honor Fallon in the most per- sonal way. In the heart of Europe, with the ring designed just for her, their next chap- ter began. What’s one quirky or funny habit your partner has that you adore? FALLON: “He pretends to know lyrics to songs but never does so he always just makes them up with full confidence. It makes me laugh every time!” ERIC: “She picks up on my mannerisms and slang usually after a couple months. If I start using a new word or saying ill catch her saying soon after.”

Roberto Coin

Venetian Enchantment

Italy: It’s here where visionary designer Roberto Coin finds his inspiration. From the sunlit canals of Venice to the rolling hills of Tuscany, each collection brings Italy’s poetic beauty to life in wearable masterpieces. With a reverence for craftsmanship and an eye for innovation, Roberto Coin has spent nearly thirty years delighting jewelry connoisseurs worldwide, forging a legacy defined by elegance, emotion, and the unmistakable warmth of 18K gold. And this new year is no different.

Stepping right out of the heart of Venice with the SAN MARCO COLLECTION , Roberto Coin pays tribute to the city’s most iconic treasure: St. Mark’s Basilica. Here, gilded mosaics dance with captured sunlight, serving as both creative inspiration and the aesthetic blueprint. Its mosaic-framed arches and artisan-wrought details are reborn in the San Marco collection in sweeping curves of yellow, rose, and white gold, each strand interlaced with the next in harmonious union.

Like many of his previous works, at the center of the San Marco collection lie diamonds, brilliant as Venetian reflections on water. Paved within select stations, they refract every glimmer of gold into a symphony of light. Imagine a station bracelet, where one luminous link emerges in a shower of diamonds, its sparkle echoing the kaleidoscopic patterns that first inspired Roberto Coin. Or picture a necklace, its gold ribbons twisting like canals beneath a twilight sky, punctuated by diamond-studded accents that guide your eye like lanterns on the lagoon.

48 | B ACHENDORF’ S

ITALY — a captivating destination where the landscape whispers enchanting tales of art, history, mystery, and romance.

Yet San Marco is more than an homage to a place — it is a celebration of connection. Just as Venice knits together cultures and eras, these intertwined gold tones remind us that our lives are richer when distinct strands come together. Each piece becomes a personal relic — a moment of wonder preserved in precious metal, an heirloom worthy of being passed down through generations.

Whether it accompanies a gala gown or adds delicate shimmer to simple dinner attire, every piece in the San Marco collection transcends ornamentation — it invites you into a narrative of artistry and heart. Wear it as an ode to adventure, a reminder that inspiration flows from history and that true luxury is born when emotion and excellence intertwine. With Roberto Coin’s San Marco collection, you carry the Venetian enchantment and legacy, and with it, the promise of beauty that never fades.

ROBERTO COIN HAS SPENT NEARLY THIRTY YEARS DELIGHTING JEWELRY CONNOISSEURS WORLDWIDE, FORGING A LEGACY DEFINED BY ELEGANCE, EMOTION, AND THE UNMISTAKABLE WARMTH OF 18K GOLD .

From the Amalfi Coast to Kentucky :

Talley Hodges and Will Pike’s journey began with a beautiful proposal along the stunning Amalfi Coast. This moment was marked by a custom-designed Bachendorf’s ring, a true reflection of their unique love story. Crafted in the Bachendorf’s private showroom, the ring features an elegant emerald cut center flanked by tapered trapezoids on either side. A thoughtful detail, Asscher cuts extend down the band, adding to its bespoke charm. For Talley, a member of a family-owned, bespoke linen company, the choice of Bachendorf’s was meaningful, as it mirrored her family’s values of heritage and heirloom creations.

52 | B ACHENDORF’ S

A Weekend of Southern Charm and Family Traditions

The couple’s wedding weekend, which took place June 5th-8th, 2025, was a true celebration of family and tradition. Festivities began with a “Gathering in the Garden” at the historic Botherum home. The following day, a Bohemian Garden Party was held for the bridesmaids’ luncheon, hosted by a group of Talley’s “Auntees” who helped raise her. The event embraced a whimsical theme, with guests wearing floral crowns and sitting on pillows for tea sandwiches and champagne. Talley’s look for the occasion was a beautiful Temperley

London cape paired with a floral crown by Drury Floral. She accessorized with Bachendorf’s archival amethyst, ametrine, and diamond yellow gold flower earrings, adding a touch of vintage glamour. A surprise book, orchestrated by her mother, Jane Scott, featured heartfelt notes and cherished memories from each guest. The napkins and book were adorned with the first official monogram of the weekend — the Joy Monogram by Leontine Linens, a tribute to her paternal grandmother’s trousseau.

The rehearsal dinner and welcome party, held at The Apiary in Lexington, showcased the couple’s appreciation for Kentucky’s lush landscapes. Talley wore a custom gown by New Orleans couturier Suzanne Perron St. Paul, the lavender florals subtly hinting at the wedding’s color theme. Lush florals and bronze pheasants adorned the tables, accompanied by another Leontine Linens touch — a napkin featuring the ‘Duke’ monogram.

JOURNEY OF JOY

54 | B ACHENDORF’ S

A Day Steeped in Heritage The wedding ceremony was a deeply personal affair, held at Talley’s maternal grandparents’ family farm in Georgetown, Kentucky. A flower arch framed the 1790 stone house where Talley’s parents had married 30 years prior. The couple honored this tradition by borrowing the same iron benches from Keeneland Racecourse that had been used at her parents’ wedding. Talley’s wedding dress held a special significance, as it was a recreation of her grandmother Joy Nalty Hodges’s original Priscilla of Boston gown from 1953. With a stroke of serendipity, the original was found and brought to Suzanne Perron St. Paul’s atelier. The pearl shells from Joy’s dress were delicately removed and hand-sewn onto Talley’s new gown, serving as her “something borrowed.” The lace, imported from Lyon, France, was crafted at Suzanne’s New Orleans atelier, a meaningful detail for Talley, as every piece at her family’s company, Leontine Linens, is proudly made in the U.S.

To complement her gown, Talley chose 18K white gold 12-13mm White South Sea pearl stud earrings with diamond accents from Bachendorf’s. She also wore her mother’s heirloom pearls, which Bachendorf’s had re-strung to fit her look, further weaving her family’s legacy into her special day. The reception was a masterpiece of custom design, with ten unique sets of custom-designed linens and proprietary monogram styles created by Leontine Linens. The decor incorporated warmth and color, with beautiful wallpaper panels from Iksel Decorative Arts and a custom dance floor inspired by a quatrefoil motif. The tables were set with plates from Lisa McCarthy and Alex Papachristidis’s Everyday Elegance collection. Mid-reception, Talley changed into a final, fun look by Suzanne Perron St. Paul, paired with her City boots. She made a dramatic entrance in a cape featuring an appliquéd “P” — one of Leontine Linens’ signature monogram styles. Her accessories for this final look were a pair of Bachendorf’s archival vintage Mikimoto diamond and pearl earrings, a perfect finishing touch to her fashion-forward ensemble. Talley and Will’s wedding was a beautiful testament to a love story that began with a custom-designed ring and unfolded into a weekend rich with bespoke details and cherished family traditions.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT

Marco Bicego

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS WITH A TWIST

F

For a quarter of a century, nestled in the hills of Vicenza, craftsmanship and creativity have intertwined, whispering contemporary elegance and dancing with light to capture timeless beauty. Marco Bicego has always interpreted this through a modern language that resonates with today’s woman. His pieces are wearable constellations, born from the alchemy of blending age-old techniques with innovative vision, creating an unmistakable aesthetic signature.

The brand’s most anticipated launch of its 25th anniversary year — Lunaria Twist — offers a modern play on a classic style. Delicate and alluring in its shape, the collection is a contemporary marvel in its craftsmanship technique. Right before completion, the gold leaf is gently twisted, differentiating

it from other Lunaria styles. Just as its curved leaves brilliantly capture and reflect light, the collection itself is a luminous tribute to the past 25 years, while embracing an inspired vision for the future.

58 | B ACHENDORF’ S

Much like a composer, Marco crafts symphonies using both traditional and modern instruments, attuned to contemporary sensibilities. His remarkable feel for color mirrors that of a painter who selects each shade with deliberate care, knowing every hue tells its own unique story. These are emotions that flow seamlessly into everyday life. Brilliant personal journeys where materials reveal their distinct character through textures that speak of time and transformation — radiant fragments of eternity. When worn, these masterpieces remind us that true beauty holds something universal, touching the hearts of every generation. A quarter of a century marked by distinctive style, technical daring, and that irresistible Italian flair. Yesterday, today, always.

FROM YACHT DECKS TO DAILY WEAR: THE VERSATILE SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA

All Aqua Terra watches retain core features: a round case with 150 meters of water resistance, an arrow-tipped minute hand, and luminous dial details for low-light visibility. Many models feature teak-patterned dials inspired by yacht decking, while others opt for smooth lacquer finishes. From understated steel models to lavish gold and diamond versions, there’s something for every wrist and occasion. Offering a mix of durability, sportiness, and clean modern style, the Seamaster Aqua Terra is Omega’s most versatile collection. Introduced in 2002, it has grown into one of the brand’s most diverse lines, with a wide range of sizes, materials, dial designs, movements, and functions.

Omega continues to expand the Aqua Terra lineup with creative interpretations. The Aqua Terra Shades offers a wide palette of dial colors, housed in stainless steel cases. Another standout is the turquoise-dial Aqua Terra in 41 mm, which takes a vibrant yet wearable approach to color. Omega has also experimented with case materials, offering options in 18K Moonshine™ or Sedna™ gold for a more luxurious feel. On the complication front, the Aqua Terra Worldtimer adds travel-ready functionality with GMT and world time displays, anchored by a laser-ablated Earth motif at the center of the dial.

Women’s Watches TUDOR IN HER TIME:

Tudor may be best known for its vintage-inspired dive watches and chronographs for men, but the brand’s catalog includes plenty of appealing options for women as well. From dressy to sporty, classic to contemporary, Tudor has built a strong lineup of ladies’ timepieces that prioritize both design and everyday wearability. What makes Tudor especially compelling for women is the brand’s ability to balance style with substance. These aren’t simply scaled- down versions of men’s models, but thoughtfully crafted watches that offer a range of case sizes, materials, and styles to suit a variety of tastes. The current women’s collection includes classic timepieces, daily watches, sporty numbers, dive models, and more — all mechanically sound, beautifully designed, and built for real-life wear. Tudor’s history with ladies’ watches goes back to the early 1930s, when the brand released its first models created specifically for women. With rectangular and barrel-shaped cases inspired by Art Deco, these early pieces reflected the fashion of the time but were already known for their reliability. In the decades that followed, Tudor expanded its offerings, introducing waterproof cases in the 1940s, sports models in the 1970s, and eventually, dive watches with the same specs as men’s models, just in a more compact format.

Black Bay 54 Collection

Black Bay One Collection

72 | B ACHENDORF’ S

Today, that legacy continues across several core collections. On the sportier side, there’s the Black Bay 54, a well-proportioned 37 mm dive watch with 200 meters of water resistance, a rotating bezel, and an in-house automatic movement. Exclusively in stainless steel, early versions featured black dials and aluminum bezels, while the latest Lagoon Blue edition offers a sea-blue, sand-textured dial and matching steel bezel. For a more versatile, all-purpose option, the Black Bay One collection takes familiar design cues from the Black Bay line and reinterprets them into sleek models that go from day to night. Available in four case sizes, the watches come in stainless steel or two-tone steel and yellow gold, with smooth or diamond-set bezels, a variety of dial colors, and five-link bracelets. Fans of sport-chic watches can turn to the Royal collection, offered in various sizes and available in steel or two-tone yellow gold. These watches feature integrated bracelets, notched or diamond bezels, and a range of dial options. Alternatively, the Clair de Rose line leans feminine with Roman numerals, fluted crowns, and guilloché dials. Crafted in stainless steel and available in three sizes, Clair de Rose watches come with high-polished five-link bracelets and a choice of blue or silver dials, with or without diamonds. Finally, the 1926 collection honors Tudor’s early history with classically elegant watches featuring embossed dials and leaf-shaped hands, offered in three sizes in steel or two-tone rose gold. Whether worn as an everyday companion or as a signature accessory, Tudor watches offer women the confidence of Swiss manufacturing, precise mechanical movements, and design-forward thinking — all at a price point that remains approachable within the luxury category. As more women seek out watches that reflect both personal style and horological credibility, Tudor delivers a compelling proposition that’s both relevant and enduring.

LUXURIOUS LINKS

The beaches are stunning and the mild Mediterranean climate is excellent for golf and vacationing. Perched on the westernmost coast of continental Europe, temperatures remain mild over the winter, and the climate delivers ideal temperatures in spring and fall. Summers can get a bit toasty, so plan accordingly. You basically don’t have to worry about a winter season, so most courses are open year-round .

EUROPE’S GOLFING JEWEL PORTUGAL

74 | B ACHENDORF’ S

T Throw a dart at a map, and you would be hard-pressed to find a better destination for a golfing excursion than Portugal. It’s been selected as the Best Golf Destination in Europe numerous times, including six years consecutively, as well as the Best Golf Destination in the World several times. Portugal offers a wide range of courses, more than 90 around the country, with

features suitable for different levels of difficulty and budget. Lisbon, specifically, is a destination renowned for its charming old neighborhoods, vibrant architecture, historic trams, delectable cuisine, and rich history. Its proximity to several areas of protected nature and World Heritage-designated monuments and landscapes is a perfect companion to a

golfing holiday or a few golf-focused days. The family can enjoy historic attractions in the nation’s capital region while you tackle Oitavos Dunes, ranked among the top golf courses in the world, known for its links- style design and Atlantic Ocean views. Don’t overlook West Cliffs, a new addition to the Lisbon golf scene, or Royal Obidos, designed by Seve Ballesteros.

75 | B ACHENDORF’ S

Where to stay? The five-star Hotel Praia D’El Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort lies on Portugal’s picturesque west coast, an easy drive from the culturally recognized towns of Obidos and Peniche, a quaint fishing village. Just an hour’s drive from Lisbon, the resort hosts two of the leading courses in Portugal, the West Cliffs Golf Links and the Praia D’El Rey Golf Course. In the running for the most stunning golf course in Europe, Praia D’El Rey winds through pine forests and rolling dunes, with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the distant Berlenga Islands.

Designed by noted American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson and inaugurated in June 1997, the course features 87 bunkers, generous greens, and abundant natural vegetation surrounding lush fairways, providing a complex golfing challenge. Oitavos Dunes blends seamlessly with nature, carved from the magnificent dunes beside the Atlantic Ocean. Book accommodations at one of the oceanfront resorts, boutique hotels, and modern lodgings in the area around the course. Obidos, a fortified medieval town, is home to the Royal Obidos Scenic Resort. Drop off non-golfers to enjoy the sights while you face off against a 6,400-meter course on undulating terrain. Pamper your entourage at the spa and fine restaurants across the resort. Sintra is the destination for Penha Longa, a beautiful course with great views located at the base of the Sintra hills. Spend the day in Sintra touring historical attractions such as the National Palace of Pena and the Castle of the Moors.

What’s the cost? Portugal remains relatively affordable compared to Europe’s more famous cities, such as Paris or London. Some Americans have complained that cart fees are on the high end, perhaps as an in- centive to walk rather than ride the course. What to Wear? Don’t be surprised to encounter cloudy weather when you get off the plane. It’s a tropical climate, with brief rain showers punctuating the warm and humid air. During the warmer months, book early tee times to beat the worst of the heat. Take the usual advice of dressing in layers to heart.

How to Get Around? Rental cars and hotel shuttles are the most common ways to get around Lisbon. A golf booking agency can help with transfers to and from courses. We can only encourage you to make Portugal your next destination for a family adventure. A golf trip there promises a respite from the familiar and an adventure into stunning natural beauty and engaging cultural destinations.
