THE ENDURING APPEAL OF
watches
From space missions and aircraft cockpits to deep-sea dives, these iconic watches have left their mark on history and continue to thrive in modern collections. Here’s a closer look at some of the most enduring models, along with standout versions at every level.
OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch In 1965, the OMEGA Speedmaster became the only watch qualified by NASA for all manned space missions and Extravehicular Activity (EVA). A few years later, in 1969, it was the Speedmaster Professional that accompanied Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on their historic journey to the moon. Since then, the direct descendants of those Apollo-era Speedmasters—defined by 42 mm cases, tri-compax chronograph dials, tachymeter bezels, and manual-winding movements—have been affectionately known as the Moonwatch.
