A Golden Era Begins

“There are three pillars our company is founded on, and that’s service, service, and service .”

— TONY SHEIBAN

Celebrating 50 Years Fifty years ago, Tony Sheiban opened a small jewelry shop in downtown Cleveland with just 200 square feet, a single display case, and an unshakable commitment to quality and personal service. Today, Sheiban Jewelers is one of Northeast Ohio’s premier destinations for fine jewelry and watches, a testament to five generations of skill, passion, and family values. Roots in a Family Tradition Long before Sheiban Jewelers became a household name, Tony was a boy in Lebanon learning the trade from his father, a master jeweler. Born in 1947, he grew up surrounded by tools, gemstones, and the quiet discipline of craftsmanship. By the age of ten, he was helping support his family while mastering the intricate techniques that would define his career. In 1973, political and economic turmoil pushed Tony to make a life-changing decision. At twenty-six, he left Lebanon for the United States, carrying little

more than his tools, determination, and a dream. He first arrived in Boston, then moved to Cleveland, working tirelessly in jewelry manufacturing and quickly earning a reputation for precision and integrity. Building the First Store Two years later, Tony had saved enough to open his own shop at the corner of Ninth and Euclid in downtown Cleveland. With a modest footprint and a workbench in the back, he crafted custom pieces that attracted both individual clients and major retailers. By 1976, Tony saw the need for a larger space where he could work directly with customers. He moved Sheiban Jewelers to Strongsville, a growing community south of Cleveland. The new location allowed him to expand custom design services and deepen client relationships that remain central to the business.

8 | SHEIBAN JEWELERS MAGAZINE

A Growing Family and the Fifth Generation Even while working seven days a week to grow his business, Tony never forgot his family or his childhood sweetheart, Gretta. After returning to Lebanon to visit family, he rekindled their relationship, and the two married before moving back to America. Over the next few years, their family grew with the births of Joelle in 1985, Chris in 1987, and Jason in 1988. Raised in and around the store, the children became the fifth generation of Sheiban jewelers, with Chris soldering his first chain at nine and Jason forming his first ring at eight. Building a Destination Showroom The turn of the millennium marked a new era for the business. In 2000, growth prompted the construction of a freestanding flagship location in Strongsville. Tony worked closely with architects and designers to create a showroom that reflected the beauty of the jewelry inside. This location remains the cornerstone of Sheiban Jewelers today, offering an elegant and welcoming experience.

The Next Generation Leads with Innovation and Community As the business matured, Chris and Jason officially joined the company, bringing years of hands-on experience and a bold vision for the future. They had spent summers in Lebanon learning jewelry manufacturing and horology from their grandfather and later graduated with diplomas in Business, Graduate Gemology, and Applied Jewelry Arts. Once at the helm, the brothers led a sweeping modernization of the business. They introduced technology solutions including an e-commerce website, modern point-of-sale systems, and robust client relationship management tools. They invested in Computer Aided Design and Laser Welding Technologies, transforming how jewelry was designed, manufactured, and repaired. They built a marketing team and implemented digital strategies that elevated the Sheiban brand and deepened customer engagement.

OUR SHEIBAN TEAM

With two generations working side by side, the Sheiban family achieved a rare balance between tradition and innovation. Time-honored techniques and personal service now blend seamlessly with advanced technology and modern business practices. This vision culminated in a major remodel of the flagship store in 2014, expanding to nearly ten thousand square feet with private viewing rooms, a watchmaking room, and curated spaces designed for an intimate, elegant shopping experience. Celebrating 50 Years with a Bold New Look As Sheiban Jewelers turns 50, we’re doing more than just celebrating; we’re reimagining what it means to visit our store. This milestone marks the beginning of a complete transformation, with a stunning new exterior and thoughtfully designed interiors. Each corner will tell its own story, from the new OMEGA, Breitling, Montblanc, and TAG Heuer showcases to the

redefined client areas. And because the Sheiban experience extends beyond our showroom, we are introducing a new website that feels just as inviting. This will make it easier than ever to discover our collections, explore your favorite brands, and connect with us. Looking Ahead with Gratitude This transformation is as much about the future as it is about honoring the past. For fifty years, our clients have trusted us with their most meaningful moments, from engagements to anniversaries to milestones, and for that we are endlessly grateful. As we step into this exciting new chapter, we look forward to welcoming you into our refreshed showroom and guiding you through our new online experience, continuing to be part of the stories you will cherish for decades to come.

THE ENDURING APPEAL OF

watches

From space missions and aircraft cockpits to deep-sea dives, these iconic watches have left their mark on history and continue to thrive in modern collections. Here’s a closer look at some of the most enduring models, along with standout versions at every level.

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch In 1965, the OMEGA Speedmaster became the only watch qualified by NASA for all manned space missions and Extravehicular Activity (EVA). A few years later, in 1969, it was the Speedmaster Professional that accompanied Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on their historic journey to the moon. Since then, the direct descendants of those Apollo-era Speedmasters—defined by 42 mm cases, tri-compax chronograph dials, tachymeter bezels, and manual-winding movements—have been affectionately known as the Moonwatch.

18 | SHEIBAN JEWELERS MAGAZINE

Breitling Navitimer Introduced in 1952, the Breitling Navitimer was the first wristwatch designed specifically for pilots to combine a chronograph with a computational slide rule. It quickly became one of the brand’s most recognizable models, celebrated in both aviation circles and popular culture. In 2022, Breitling began updating the Navitimer collection, expanding beyond chronographs to include simplified time-only versions and travel-ready GMTs. Still, the Navitimer chronographs remain iconic, easily recognized by their circular slide rule, beaded or notched bezel, and trio of subdials.

19 | SHEIBAN JEWELERS MAGAZINE

Tudor Black Bay 58 Tudor’s diving legacy began in 1954 with the launch of the Oyster Prince Submariner, the brand’s first dedicated dive watch. Celebrated for their durability and performance, Tudor dive watches were later adopted by elite military forces. In 1958, the reference 7924 “Big Crown” became Tudor’s first model rated to 200 meters and now serves as inspiration for the modern Black Bay 58 collection. With its 39 mm case, domed crystal, and distinctive angular snowflake hands from 1969, the Black Bay 58 channels vintage design while housing a cutting-edge in-house automatic movement.

The beaches are stunning and the mild Mediterranean climate is excellent for golf and vacationing. Perched on the westernmost coast of continental Europe, temperatures remain mild over the winter, and the climate delivers ideal temperatures in spring and fall. Summers can get a bit toasty, so plan accordingly. You basically don’t have to worry about a winter season, so most courses are open year-round .

EUROPE’S GOLFING JEWEL PORTUGAL

22 | SHEIBAN JEWELERS MAGAZINE

T Throw a dart at a map, and you would be hard-pressed to find a better destination for a golfing excursion than Portugal. It’s been selected as the Best Golf Destination in Europe numerous times, including six years consecutively, as well as the Best Golf Destination in the World several times. Portugal offers a wide range of courses, more than 90 around the country, with

features suitable for different levels of difficulty and budget. Lisbon, specifically, is a destination renowned for its charming old neighborhoods, vibrant architecture, historic trams, delectable cuisine, and rich history. Its proximity to several areas of protected nature and World Heritage-designated monuments and landscapes is a perfect companion to a

golfing holiday or a few golf-focused days. The family can enjoy historic attractions in the nation’s capital region while you tackle Oitavos Dunes, ranked among the top golf courses in the world, known for its links- style design and Atlantic Ocean views. Don’t overlook West Cliffs, a new addition to the Lisbon golf scene, or Royal Obidos, designed by Seve Ballesteros.

23 | SHEIBAN JEWELERS MAGAZINE

LUXURIOUS LINKS

Where to stay? The five-star Hotel Praia D’El Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort lies on Portugal’s picturesque west coast, an easy drive from the culturally recognized towns of Obidos and Peniche, a quaint fishing village. Just an hour’s drive from Lisbon, the resort hosts two of the leading courses in Portugal, the West Cliffs Golf Links and the Praia D’El Rey Golf Course. In the running for the most stunning golf course in Europe, Praia D’El Rey winds through pine forests and rolling dunes, with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the distant Berlenga Islands.

Designed by noted American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson and inaugurated in June 1997, the course features 87 bunkers, generous greens, and abundant natural vegetation surrounding lush fairways, providing a complex golfing challenge. Oitavos Dunes blends seamlessly with nature, carved from the magnificent dunes beside the Atlantic Ocean. Book accommodations at one of the oceanfront resorts, boutique hotels, and modern lodgings in the area around the course. Obidos, a fortified medieval town, is home to the Royal Obidos Scenic Resort. Drop off non-golfers to enjoy the sights while you face off against a 6,400-meter course on undulating terrain. Pamper your entourage at the spa and fine restaurants across the resort. Sintra is the destination for Penha Longa, a beautiful course with great views located at the base of the Sintra hills. Spend the day in Sintra touring historical attractions such as the National Palace of Pena and the Castle of the Moors.

What’s the cost? Portugal remains relatively affordable compared to Europe’s more famous cities, such as Paris or London. Some Americans have complained that cart fees are on the high end, perhaps as an in- centive to walk rather than ride the course. What to Wear? Don’t be surprised to encounter cloudy weather when you get off the plane. It’s a tropical climate, with brief rain showers punctuating the warm and humid air. During the warmer months, book early tee times to beat the worst of the heat. Take the usual advice of dressing in layers to heart.

How to Get Around? Rental cars and hotel shuttles are the most common ways to get around Lisbon. A golf booking agency can help with transfers to and from courses. We can only encourage you to make Portugal your next destination for a family adventure. A golf trip there promises a respite from the familiar and an adventure into stunning natural beauty and engaging cultural destinations.

Founded in 1860, TAG Heuer has long been at the forefront of precision timekeeping, with a legacy rooted in innovation and motorsport. The brand was an early pioneer of dashboard chronographs for cars and aircraft, and in 1916 introduced the Mikrograph, the world’s first stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second. By the 1960s, TAG Heuer had become a fixture in Formula 1 paddocks, partnering with top teams and drivers. In 1969, the debut of the revolutionary Calibre 11, the first automatic chronograph, cemented TAG Heuer’s place in watchmaking history. That racing spirit still drives the brand today, from track-tested technology to collections inspired by high-speed performance.

M O N A C O Introduced in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco broke convention as the world’s first square-cased automatic chronograph. Its bold design and cutting-edge movement made headlines, but it was Steve McQueen’s iconic appearance wearing the Monaco in Le Mans that cemented its legend. Today, the Monaco remains a symbol of fearless innovation and racing heritage.

ELECTRIFYING

BMW i8 M redux 2026

THE FUTURE OF PERFORMANCE HAS ARRIVED

i

If you missed out on the first-generation BMW i8 hybrid supercar, you may have another chance. BMW is hinting at a new i8, this time with an M badge, although the model name, like many other things about this version, hasn’t been finalized. The first i8 was a plug-in hybrid powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine, generating a combined 369 horsepower. The electric driving range was a minimal 18

miles. More than 20,000 were produced from 2014 to 2020, making it the top-selling plug-in electric sports car. The next generation will be based on BMW’s Vision M Next concept. Expect a massive increase in power, a longer all- electric driving range, and a more capable chassis. It’s predicted to hit dealer showrooms at the end of 2025 as a 2026 model.

34 | SHEIBAN JEWELERS MAGAZINE

the scoop

The scuttlebutt is that the new version will be powered by a turbocharged four- cylinder engine and twin electric motors, yielding a combined output of around 600 horsepower. In the Next concept, that drivetrain was capable of running 0-62 mph in 3.0 seconds, with a top speed of 186 mph. With that kind of power, the i8 M will be competitive with hybrid rivals like the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray and the Lexus LC 500h. The Vision M Next concept claimed an electric driving range of 62 miles. There isn’t much info on the EV capabilities of the i8 M, but be sure BMW’s engineers are working feverishly to find ways to eke out more range from each charge. Hopefully, BMW will address one common criticism from the first model: ingress and egress. Sure, it’s a ground- hugging hypercar with butterfly or front- hinged doors, but it was exceptionally hard to get into and out of, gracefully or otherwise. As a hypercar, storage and cargo capacity will likely remain limited, but a front trunk (or frunk) may provide additional luggage space.

THE CONFIDENCE TO CONQUER, THE FREEDOM TO EXPLORE. EXPERIENCE IT ALL WITH BMW ELECTRIC.

ELECTRIFYING

We’re hoping it will be offered as a convertible as well as a fixed-roof coupe, similar to the previous generation model’s lineup. If you’re going to be uncomfortable in a performance car, you might as well have the wind in your hair. The price of the 2026 BMW i8 M is expected to range from approximately $160,000 to $180,000, depending on the selected trim and options. Like its predecessor, the i8 M will be BMW’s laboratory for futuristic styling and materials, serving as a rolling demonstration of cutting-edge features and eye- popping designs. BMW i8 M

5 TYPES OF THIS ANCIENT SPIRIT AND OUR TOP RECOMMENDATIONS Tequila

BLANCO The starting point for all tequila varieties, blanco is unaged, although sometimes it may rest in an oak barrel for up to 60 days. You’ll find blancos with a surprising variety of flavor profiles, from sharp notes of citrus and pepper to creamy smooth with touches of vanilla and honey. Tequila shots at the club are usually blanco. Blanco is diluted to 40 percent (80 proof) and bottled right after distilling.

REPOSADO Aged in oak barrels from two months to a year, a reposado tequila highlights blue agave with notes of vanilla, honey, and toasted nuts. It’s perfect for sipping rather than shots like the blanco. Reposados are the usual choice for a margarita or Paloma cocktail or a substitute for bourbon in an old-fashioned or Manhattan.

AÑEJO Añejo is the tequila version of the brown spirits, aging in oak whiskey barrels for one to three years. Flavors range from oaky and spicy to buttery and warm, depending on the aging, the char in the barrel, and any additives in the distiller’s recipe.

EXTRA AÑEJO Extra añejo rests for three years or more in oak barrels, imparting a rich amber color and intense aromas. The aging results in an ultra-premium spirit with deep notes of caramel, chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla, resembling aged whiskey and cognac.

CRISTALINO This is an añejo or extra añejo that has been filtered through charcoal. This process removes tannins and enhances fruity and floral notes, resulting in a clear blanco style. Cristalinos are often sweeter and lighter than the unrefined añejo versions. Use it as any other tequila, adding to a cocktail, sipping on ice, or neat.

TEQUILA, A DISTILLED SPIRIT, IS EXCLUSIVELY MADE FROM THE BLUE AGAVE PLANT. SIMILAR TO CHAMPAGNE, TEQUILA HAS AN APPELLATION OF ORIGIN, MEANING IT CAN ONLY BE CALLED TEQUILA IF PRODUCED IN SPECIFIC REGIONS OF MEXICO, PRIMARILY JALISCO.

Tequila is unique compared to whiskeys and other distilled spirits because it’s made from a raw ingredient not harvested annually. Weber Azul agaves, the ground-hugging succulents that are the source of tequila, take seven to ten years to mature to ripeness. Distilled spirits such as whiskey or vodka are made from corn, rye, wheat, or barley harvested yearly. Before you sip a tequila, think about the voyage to your glass. When an extra añejo tequila is poured, it is at least ten years old. The journey started several years ago in a field in the region of Jalisco, Mexico, and included at least three years aging in a barrel. The destination is your glass, so take the time to honor the lifetime of the tequila that creates a special moment in your life.

CLEAN LIVING

Nourishment from Within: Prioritize Whole Foods: Focus on consuming a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. This provides the essential nutrients your body needs to thrive, naturally enhancing both inner and outer beauty. Hydration is Key: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep skin plump and hydrated from within. Consider adding lemon or cucumber for extra electrolytes. Skincare, Simplified: Minimalist Approach: Less is often more when it comes to skincare. Focus on a few high- quality products with clean formulations, tailored to your specific needs. Look for brands that prioritize transparency and sustainable sourcing. True Botanicals: The Pure Radiance Oil ($120) remains a cult favorite, delivering potent botanical nourishment. Tata Harper: The Resurfacing Mask ($68) offers a gentle yet effective exfoliation for a radiant glow.

Body & Mind Connection: Movement Matters: Incorporate regular exercise into your routine, whether it’s yoga, Pilates, or simply a brisk walk in nature.

Josh Rosebrook: For sensitive skin, the Hydrating Accelerator ($38) provides a gentle boost of hydration. Makeup Made Mindfully: ILIA: The Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 ($48) provides sheer coverage, hydration, and sun protection in a clean formula. Independent Watchmakers CRAFTING THEIR OWN PATH

In a world where most major watch brands are part of sprawling luxury conglomerates, a handful of independent companies continue to chart their own course. These brands retain full creative and operational control, often leading to bolder designs, technical innovation, and a more personal connection with their customers. Among today’s notable independents are NOMOS Glashütte, Bell & Ross, and Raymond Weil , each offering a distinct perspective on watchmaking.

NOMOS GLASHÜTTE Minimalism Meets Manufacturing Mastery Founded in 1990 shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, NOMOS Glashütte has become one of Germany’s most respected independent brands. Operating from the historic town of Glashütte, the brand is known for its Bauhaus-inspired designs and fully in-house mechanical movements. Unlike many independent watch brands that rely on outsourced calibers, NOMOS designs, develops, and manufactures its movements entirely in-house, showcasing traditional Glashütte elements such as three-quarter plates with striping, tempered blue screws, swan neck regulators, and hand engraving. One of its latest calibers is the DUW 3202 automatic worldtime movement, which powers the new Club Sport Neomatik Worldtimer watch.

BELL & ROSS Form Follows Function

Established in 1992 by Bruno Belamich and Carlos Rosillo, Bell & Ross set out to make watches inspired by aviation and professional use. Based in Paris with production in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the brand is known for its square cases, legibility, and military-influenced design. The BR-X5 collection brings a more refined look to the lineup without compromising performance. The BR-X5 Ice Blue combines a striking dial with chronometer-certified manufacture movement and 100 meters of water resistance, suitable for both cockpit and city.

RAYMOND WEIL Swiss Heritage with a Family Spirit

Launched in Geneva in 1976 during the quartz crisis, Raymond Weil was created to uphold Swiss watchmaking while making it more accessible. Still family-owned today, the brand balances classic design with solid value, offering a selection of both quartz and mechanical models. A standout is the Freelancer Complete Calendar, which offers day, date, month, and moon phase in a well-proportioned 40 mm steel case with gold PVD. With Swiss- made quality and dependable performance, Raymond Weil proves that independent watchmaking doesn’t have to come with a luxury markup.

THE MOONWATCH IN WHITE

Inspired by its history of space exploration, the most iconic chronograph on Earth now has a white dial. The Speedmaster Moonwatch has borrowed its latest look from the colours of astronaut spacesuits, while adding a glossy lacquered finish for the very first time. The white dial and red touches are also a tribute to the ALASKA I prototype that OMEGA produced in 1969, creating an authentic link to the Speedmaster’s pioneering past. Worn on a comfortable and vintage-style bracelet, this stainless steel Moonwatch shines the spotlight on a new era of adventure.
