Michael Youngblood Sales Professional

Fink’s Jewelers Virginia Beach, VA (757) 640-1132 Michael.Youngblood@finks.com

Michael Youngblood has been a dedicated member of Fink’s Jewelers for nearly a decade. Originally starting as a diamond specialist, Michael quickly became the go-to watch expert and ambassador for our Virginia Beach Hilltop location. His passion for watches and jewelry and his ability to connect with clients make him a standout member of the Fink’s team.

From Diamonds to Watches: A Journey of Passion While diamonds are the foundation of our business, I quickly became a watch expert as I got to know the brands Fink’s carries. My dad was a mechanic, and I grew up around race cars and engines. My grandfathers were also both engineers, so I always understood and was fascinated by machinery. And watches, of course, are little engines on your wrist. So, I started researching, learning, and growing my knowledge, which led me to become the watch captain here at the Hilltop store. Building Lasting Client Relationships Honestly, most of my clients have become good friends. You meet them, help them find the initial item they need or are looking for, and then keep communicating. Generally speaking, people come here to purchase something associated with an accomplishment, a milestone, or a memory. So, helping them find the right thing to signify that moment in their lives is probably the best part of what I do. A Culture of Growth and Opportunity at Fink’s Working in the jewelry industry and for Fink’s has allowed me to travel and expand my knowledge of high-end jewelry and watches. I’ve been on trips to Switzerland, New York City, and Colorado, which have deepened my appreciation for the industry. A Witness to the Trends On the jewelry side, I’m seeing a lot more interest in yellow gold and yellow gold shades. Many designers and watch companies are playing with alloys to shift the tint. On the watch side, we’re seeing the shift back to an appreciation for quality timepieces. While smartwatches were popular for a while, there’s a re-emerging appreciation for something more traditional that can outlast you or be passed down. Beyond the Store: A Life Filled with Experiences I’m an “experience” person. I like to experience new things, and I am blessed with a large circle of friends who I really enjoy spending time with. Whether it’s going out to a new restaurant to try exotic food and wine pairings, or meeting up with my bourbon collector friends at a tasting event, I enjoy every chance I get to explore a new culture or experience.

Donna Young Sales Professional

Fink’s Jewelers Forest, VA (434) 237-6301 Donna.Young@finks.com

When you walk into the Fink’s Jewelers in Lynchburg, VA, you’ll likely be greeted by Donna Young’s warm smile and welcoming personality. A seasoned expert with nearly two decades of experience, Donna has

become a beloved fixture at Fink’s. Her journey into the world of luxury jewelry is as unique as the pieces she sells, and her passion for helping customers find that perfect piece shines just as bright.

In the Right Place at the Right Time I first joined Fink’s in 2004 at their location in River Ridge Mall in Lynchburg. I had been working in the cell phone industry when our jeweler crossed paths with me and suggested I’d be a good fit for the jewelry business. After taking a few years off to focus on my family, I returned in 2009 and have been at the Lynchburg location ever since. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with such a great company for nearly 18 years! It’s In the Heart-Felt Moments I love how personal jewelry is. Whether it’s a self-purchase or part of a love story, each piece has meaning. I enjoy hearing those stories and helping people select something that represents a special moment in their lives. It’s a happy business to be in—there’s always excitement around purchasing jewelry, whether it’s a diamond for an engagement or a fashion piece to complete an outfit. Loving What’s Trending I’ve been drawn to layering and stacking lately. It’s fun to mix and match different pieces to create something unique. I love David Yurman’s designs, especially how his pieces layer so well with other brands like John Hardy. But, I also feel a special connection to Fink’s exclusive Sabel collection, which holds a lot of sentimental value because it’s named after Marc’s mother and Matthew’s grandmother. Exploring Life Beyond the Store I’m an outdoorsy person! Growing up near the water in Gloucester County, I love fishing and hiking. Nowadays, I live in the mountains, so you’ll often find me exploring the Appalachian Trail. I also enjoy traveling when I can, spending time with my family, and giving back to causes like the Ovarian Cancer Society, which is close to my heart.

Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II

THE COSMOPOLITAN WATCH

The Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II is designed to display the time in two different time zones simultaneously. Robust and functional, it is the ideal watch for criss-crossing the globe.

BORN TO TRAVEL With its two time-zone display, the GMT-Master, launched in 1955, was originally developed as a navigation instrument for professionals criss-crossing the globe. Heir to the original model, the GMT-Master II was unveiled in 1982 with a new movement ensuring ease of use. Its combination of peerless functionality, robustness, and distinctive aesthetics made it an icon.

L aunched in 1955, the GMT-Master witnessed the rapid expansion of intercontinental travel in the latter half of the 20th century. It even became the official watch of Pan American World Airways, the most prominent American international airline at the time. The GMT-Master, a true “tool watch”, evolved continually to offer increasing technical performance. In 1982, Rolex introduced a new movement that allowed the hour hand to be set independently of the other hands. To clearly mark this evolution, the model fitted with the optimized movement was named the GMT-Master II.

The GMT-Master II has an instantly recognizable design with a graduated bezel insert, which is available in various dual- colour combinations — the lower half symbolizing daytime and the upper signalling night-time. With traditional hour, minute, and seconds hands, its triangle-tipped 24-hour hand and bidirectional rotatable bezel with a 24-hour graduated Cerachrom insert, the GMT-Master II can display the time in two time zones simultaneously: either the local time and the reference time, or the local time and that of an alternative time zone. The latest GMT-Master II is equipped with calibre 3285, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. A consummate demonstration of technology, it offers outstanding performance in terms of precision, power reserve, convenience and reliability. It is fitted with the exclusive blue Parachrom hairspring and also incorporates the patented Chronergy escapement. The movement’s power reserve extends to approximately 70 hours. Rolex broke new ground in 2013 when it introduced its first two-color, single-piece ceramic bezel insert — blue on one half and black on the other. One year later, the brand released a Cerachrom insert in red and blue — the GMT-Master’s original colors. It carried out pioneering research to develop a red ceramic corresponding to its aesthetic and quality criteria. Over the years, Rolex presented other color combinations such as brown and black (2018), and green and black (2022) — on a version with the crown and crown guard on the left side of the case and the date display at 9 o’clock. In 2023, a grey and black Cerachrom insert was unveiled on a yellow Rolesor version of the GMT-Master II as well as on a version entirely crafted from 18k yellow gold.

CROSSOVER TRIO COLLECTION David Yurman

B Born from a collaboration between David Yurman and his wife, Sybil, the namesake brand’s Crossover collection is a striking example of creative synergy, effectively blending their distinct perspectives into a cohesive design narrative. “Design is our love language,” said Sybil, “and Crossover is the ultimate love letter. It’s a playful expression of our connection.” At the heart of the Crossover

The latest interpretation of the Crossover collection, Trio, adds a whole new dimension to the design with the integration of perfect triangles. The Yurmans’ son, Evan, introduced these pyramidal elements, drawing inspiration from architecture while simultaneously adding a generational touch. These perfect triangles not only seamlessly integrate into the weaving of smooth and cabled strands, but also represent the continuation of the family’s creative legacy and unity that binds them.

collection is the interplay of intertwined strands of smooth and signature cabled cords. Further, its innovative use of mixed metals — combining gold and silver — has become a signature element of David Yurman’s work, first introduced in this collection and carried forward in each new iteration.

DESIGN IS OUR LOVE LANGUAGE, AND CROSSOVER IS THE ULTIMATE LOVE LETTER. IT’S A PLAYFUL EXPRESSION OF OUR CONNECTION.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Crossover collection Trio drives an even deeper narrative of collaboration and connection. A project where the family members designed alongside one another, the result is a collection that not only showcases the passion and craftsmanship that David Yurman has become known for, but also serves as a symbol of the family’s enduring ties.

From bangles to huggies and hoops, rings, necklaces, and beyond, the collection includes an array of jewels, often featuring the added brilliance of hand-set pavé diamonds.

REFINED ELEGANCE

pearl

jewelry

In the early 20th century, pearl jewelry was synonymous with elegance and status. The Art Nouveau and Edwardian eras favored delicate, intricate designs that complemented the soft luster of pearls. Necklaces were often long and layered, accentuating the graceful necklines of the period’s gowns. Pearls were also prominently featured in tiaras, brooches, and earrings, adorned with filigree work and often combined with diamonds and other gemstones for added brilliance. The 1920s brought the Jazz Age and with it, a dramatic shift in fashion. Pearls became a symbol of modernity and liberation, famously worn by flappers in short, multi-strand necklaces that danced and shimmered with movement. This era celebrated the sleek sophistication of pearls, moving away from the complex styles of previous decades.

In the mid-20th century, pearls regained their status as a staple of refined elegance, thanks in part to icons like Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy. The 1950s and 60s showed us classic designs, with single strand necklaces and simple stud earrings becoming timeless accessories for formal and everyday wear alike — a style movement so strong for pearls that it is still prevalent today.

The latter half of the 20th century saw experimentation with pearl jewelry, influenced by global cultural shifts and technological advancements. Cultured pearls, first introduced in the early 1900s, became more accessible, allowing for a broader range of designs and price points. Today, pearl jewelry continues to evolve alongside fashion and culture while retaining its timeless allure. Modern trends embrace versatility and individuality, offering pearls in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. Modern jewelry designers often juxtapose pearls with metals, like gold chain links, versus a strand of strung pearls, creating bold statements that resonate with a younger, fashion-forward audience. Minimalist designs are also popular, making them a perfect complement to casual wear like denim and leather. Just as all jewelry is an expression of personal style, pearls follow suit. While the allure of pearls remains timeless, their interpretations in design continue to evolve. And right now, they are anything but traditional.

Masai A LUXURIOUS BLEND OF LEGENDARY TRADITIONS by Marco Bicego

A A legacy of craftsmanship unfolds in the quiet elegance of an artisan’s workshop in Trissino, Italy. Here, amidst the delicate hum of creativity, Marco Bicego brings to life his latest masterpiece: the 2024 Masai collection. Inspired by the art and tradition of the legendary African civilization, the Masai collection whispers tales of ancient beauty and modern sophistication, captivating hearts with its clean lines and timeless elegance. At the heart of these inspired pieces is a unique technique exclusive to the Marco Bicego brand: the flat golden coil. Inspired by the distinctive stacked style of jewelry worn by the Maasai women, the collection features this refined detail by wrapping a gold wire around a woven chain and then pressing it to form a semi-rigid gold ribbon. The result is a beautiful, fluid piece that translates effortlessly into various silhouettes, creating a collection that is both versatile and striking.

“The appearance of Maasai women, particularly their decorative, unique style of wearing stacked jewelry, was a subject of great interest and intrigue to me as I was conceiving this collection,” explained Marco Bicego, founder and creative director of the eponymous brand. “I wanted to experiment with the flat coil, our exclusive and distinctive craftsmanship technique, in combination with brilliant- cut diamonds for unparalleled radiance. And in this latest evolution of the collection, I wanted to introduce stacking bangles that perfectly complement each other, styling elegantly either together or alone. You can accumulate flat coil rings, bracelets, and necklaces without ever looking overloaded, quite the contrary.”

THE MASAI COLLECTION IS FULL OF STUNNING AND LUXURIOUS WEARABLES THAT ELEVATE YOUR EVERYDAY ATTIRE WITH EASE.

Picture contemporary pieces like bangles, huggies, statement rings, and collars featuring 18 karat gold and brilliant-cut diamond bars. This classic combination of luxurious gold coils and a touch of sparkling diamonds and gemstones creates an ultra-glamorous yet effortless style. Each piece is designed for those who appreciate the finer things in life.

30 | FINK’S JEWELERS MAGAZINE

Highlights of the Collection Among the standout pieces in the Masai collection are the bangles. These bestsellers, available in yel- low, rose, and white gold and sometimes accented with pavé diamonds, are a testament to the brand’s commitment to excellence. The sleek oval design of the bangles is both rigid and flexible, thanks to

the innovative coil technique and integrated clasp. This not only ensures ease of wear but also invites layering, encouraging a “more is more” approach to accessorizing. Stacking these bangles creates a stunning effect, enhancing their inherent beauty and making a bold statement.

The Masai Collection: A Perfect Symphony For those who seek the perfect blend of contemporary style and timeless elegance, Marco Bicego’s Masai collection is a must-have. Watch as any embellishment in this collection effortlessly transforms your daytime office attire into a graceful evening ensemble.

Athleisure

Attitude

W

While brands like Ralph Lauren have been doing sophisticated sportswear for decades, in recent years, athleisure wear has taken over as America’s go-to casual look, surpassing denim in popularity for both men and women. This trend reflects significant shifts in lifestyle, fashion preferences, and cultural values — and there are several factors behind the transition. One of the primary reasons for the rise of athleisure fashion is its unparalleled comfort and functionality. Materials like spandex, nylon,

and moisture-wicking fabrics provide a level of comfort that denim simply cannot match. Greater flexibility and breathability make it ideal for countless activities, like running from barre to brunch and beyond. As the general population prioritizes comfort in their daily life, athleisure wear has become more acceptable as daily wear and the preferred choice among the masses for casual attire.

UNPARALLELED COMFORT + FUNCTIONALITY

The growing emphasis on health and wellness has also fueled the popularity of athleisure. As more people engage in fitness activities and adopt active lifestyles, the demand for clothing that seamlessly transitions from the athletic club to everyday life has increased. With its blend of sporty and casual elements, athleisure is the perfect solution. Brands like Lululemon, Alo, and Vuori have capitalized by offering stylish, high-performance pieces that cater to both fitness enthusiasts and fashion- conscious consumers.

Athleisure’s versatility is also a big reason for its popularity. Leggings, joggers, and athletic tops can be easily dressed up or down, making them suitable for a wide range of occasions. A pair of form-fitting black leggings, for example, can be paired with a blazer and jewelry for a chic, office-appropriate look, or with a casual hoodie for a relaxed model-off-duty take.

33 | FINK’S JEWELERS MAGAZINE

LUXE + LE I SURE

And speaking of models, celebrity culture has also played a significant role in the rise of athleisure. High-profile figures such as Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and Gigi Hadid have been spotted frequently in athleisure ensembles, often accessorized with high-end jewelry and designer handbags. Their influence has helped normalize and popularize the trend, making it aspirational for the general public. Social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok have amplified this trend, bringing seemingly endless athleisure-inspired outfits and styling tips to the masses.

Jewelry plays a crucial role in elevating athleisure from merely casual to undeniably chic. Simple yet sophisticated pieces, like minimalist gold necklaces, hoop earrings, and stackable rings, complement the clean lines and neutral tones often found in athleisure outfits. Statement jewelry can also add a touch of glamour to an otherwise understated look. Brands have recognized this synergy, designing jewelry collections that play well with the pared-back athleisure aesthetic.

AS LIFESTYLE AND FASHION CONTINUE TO EVOLVE, ATHLEISURE WEAR’S DOMINANCE IN THE CASUAL FASHION LANDSCAPE IS POISED TO ENDURE.

Spear Collection John Hardy

A NEW ERA OF LUXURY

Under the creative leadership of Reed Krakoff, the brand prepares for its 50th anniversary next year with a new vision and new hit collection.

O

One evolutionary mark came with the addition of Reed Krakoff as John Hardy’s new creative chairman in late 2022. Krakoff, the three-time Council of Fashion Designers of America award winner for accessory design, quickly put his mark on the brand. Formerly serving as Tiffany’s first chief artistic officer as well as Coach’s president and chief creative director, Krakoff brought an overarching vision to propel the brand forward while still paying homage to its heritage. His latest collection, Spear, reimagines John Hardy’s signature woven chain with a modern twist, using flexible titanium wire for comfort and wearability. The result? Dynamic jewelry designed to be worn by all. The pieces in the Spear collection are adjustable, making them versatile enough for any wardrobe. With diamond pavé details and meticulously crafted designs in sterling silver and two-tone options, this collection is

available in both women’s and men’s styles, giving jewelry enthusiasts the chance to experience the timeless craftsmanship of John Hardy with a distinctly modern edge. “Everything is shown on women and men, and that’s really the approach. I can’t remember a time when jewelry was so genderless,” says Krakoff, under- scoring the collection’s broad appeal. Spear isn’t about quiet luxury but rather tough, cool luxury that can be worn every day, no matter your style — proof that John Hardy is dedicated to continuing its legacy of artisanal excellence while stepping boldly into the future.

The availability of rings with minimal jewels, perfect for matching and stacking, has fulfilled this individualistic inclination and made it more accessible than ever. Plus, the desire to breathe new life into antique, vintage, or sentimental pieces has rendered the multi-finger ring trend even more popular, allowing wearers to blend the old and the new in a meaningful and fashion-forward way.

A BIG TURNOFF

A bout 60% of people say they’re addicted to their phones. Are you one of them? Constant connection can sap your quality of life and overload your senses. It could be time for a digital detox. Taking time away from screens can help rejuvenate your mental and physical health. You’ll feel new energy for your relationships and the things you used to love to do. Here are four reasons a digital detox is worthwhile and a few tips to get started.

TIME FOR A

Digital

By Gary Wollenhaupt Detox

The Benefits of a Digital Detox

How to Start Your Detox Mindfulness. Ask yourself why you’re using your phone. Are you bored? Afraid of missing out? Stressed with work? Examine your emotions to understand why you turn to your phone. Schedule a break. If you suspect you’re addicted, set an alarm for 15-30 minutes and put your phone down. Make the breaks longer over time. Substitute a habit. Instead of picking up your phone, fill the urge with something else.

Believe in yourself. Carefully curated lifestyles on social media lead you to compare yourself with others. It’s easy to forget the flawless model has a team of makeup artists just off camera. Don’t let that affect how you see yourself. Spending less time in that fantasy world can boost your self- esteem. Get healthier. Staying glued to your smartphone for several hours can lead to eye strain, dry eyes, blurry vision, teary eyes, and headaches. It can also rob you of sleep by delaying the release of melatonin. If possible, stop looking at your device an hour before bed, and even better, don’t take it to the bedroom with you.

Target the problem. Restrict or eliminate specific issues, like a social media app or game. You may decide on a total fast for a day or a week or focus on a specific detox, such as social media. Let friends and family know so that they can help and support you.

Feel content. Experiments have found that scheduling a break from digital devices can lower your stress levels. It can also help you focus on the present and pay more attention to things around you rather than giving in to FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Be focused. Scrolling through your favorite social media sites or deep diving into Wikipedia can consume time otherwise devoted to your responsibilities. Set your phone aside to focus on things you want to get done while feeling less hectic.

NO MATTER HOW YOU TACKLE YOUR DETOX,

YOU’RE CERTAIN TO FEEL REJUVENATED, AND WHO KNOWS, MAYBE YOU’LL PICK UP A NEW HOBBY IN THE PROCESS!

David Yurman MEN’S COLLECTIONS

PYRAMID COLLECTION

In the world of design, few forms resonate as deeply as the pyramid. Its geometric perfection has transcended millennia, embodying both aesthetic grace and structural resilience. For Evan Yurman, president and chief creative officer of David Yurman, this collection represents the descending rays of the sun, a symbol of life and growth that has captivated

civilizations for centuries — and that’s precisely why he drew on its powerful imagery in his latest creation, the Pyramid collection. The collection’s pieces, handcrafted from 18 karat yellow gold, black titanium, sterling silver, and pavé-set black diamonds, are not just accessories; they are monuments in miniature, embodying the essence of an age-old form.

OUROBOROS COLLECTION New Ouroboros styles expand upon the iconic motif featured in our Cairo collection, continuing the tradition of Egyptian symbolism that has long been a hallmark of David Yurman collections. The ouroboros — a timeless emblem depicting a serpent or dragon devouring its own tail — symbolizes eternal renewal and the cyclical nature

of life, death, and rebirth. As the snake sheds its skin, it embodies the profound journey of the soul’s transformation. Launching ahead of the Year of the Snake in 2025, these exquisite designs pay tribute to the snake’s cultural significance, celebrating themes of renewal and transformation with unparalleled artistry.

rings + bracelets Men’s fashion rings have swiftly become an essential component of modern style, transcending their traditional roles. Signet rings, often engraved with initials or family crests, symbolize heritage and personal identity, allowing you to make a bold but subtle statement. When it comes to men’s bracelets, these versatile accessories are the perfect way to enhance any outfit, effortlessly blending style and personality.

chains + pendants Chains and pendants serve as powerful expressions of individuality and style, transforming the way men approach their wardrobes. With options ranging from the timeless allure of cable chains to the textured elegance of rope styles and the refined sophistication of Cuban links, there’s something for every personality. Adding a pendant enhances the narrative further, allowing for personal expression through minimalist designs, like a sleek diamond crucifix or bold dog tags.

accessories Beyond chains, bracelets, and rings, accessories are essential in completing a modern gentleman’s look, and they aren’t always wearable. Items like William Henry pens symbolize sophistication and precision, while watch winders keep your automatic timepieces running and ready to wear. In addition, their knives showcase meticulous craftsmanship, serving as practical tools and artistic expressions with their exotic materials.

Tudor Boutique Manager Justin de Guia

How long have you been in the jewelry industry?

I have been in the watch and jewelry industry for over 13 years. This has given me a profound appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship, as well as a deep understanding of market trends and customer preferences.

What do you find exciting about the new Fink’s Tudor boutique?

I’m thrilled about several key elements of the new Tudor boutique — Fink’s Jewelers’ first monobrand store. Delivering the authentic Tudor experience is definitely rewarding, and the new boutique allows us to showcase Tudor’s exceptional timepieces and rich heritage in an immersive environment, which I think really helps communicate Tudor’s commitment to excellence. The boutique’s location within SouthPark is also a highlight. Being situated in such a prestigious and high-traffic area provides us with a fantastic opportunity to introduce a diverse clientele to the Tudor brand. Finally, I really appreciate the opportunity to work with our exceptional team. They are a talented and passionate group of individuals who are dedicated to providing an outstanding level of service and expertise. Their enthusiasm and knowledge will be key to creating memorable experiences for our clients.

Tell us some fun facts about you, personally. What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I enjoy a variety of activities that keep me busy and balanced. I’m passionate about collecting, not just watches, but also sneakers, as well as basketball and Pokémon cards. Each collection tells its own story, and I love delving into the history and rarity of each item. Spending quality time with my family is incredibly important to me. When I’m not at work, I look forward to time with my wife and our 8-year-old son, Castiel. We love exploring new places, enjoying outdoor adventures, and diving into fun projects around the house. I also have a passion for sports, whether it’s playing, watching, or discussing the latest games and events. One of my favorite pastimes is training in boxing and mixed martial arts alongside my son. It’s a fantastic way for us to bond and hone both discipline and resilience.
