‘TO MAKE RAINBOWS, YOU NEED SUN AND RAIN.” Catherine Pulsifer, author

Just as vivid color changes the ordinary into something beautiful, exquisite jewelry and handsome timepieces transform a minute into a milestone moment that stays with us for a lifetime. At Zadok Jewelers, we are celebrating our own milestone moment: our 45th Anniversary of assisting our clients in selecting items that reflect their individual personality. More than just ornaments, jewelry and watches are also treasured for their symbolism, commemorating life-cycle events and accomplishments–an engagement, a graduation, a career promotion. However, it is also gratifying for us to see the delight on our customers’ faces when they find the perfect item to simply brighten their day. When we opened our store on Post Oak Blvd 45 years ago we had a dream, a dream that became our goal. With the purchase of the property next to our present location, it has become a reality. Our goal was to build a legacy store to be the future of Zadok Jewelers and our family, while contributing to the vitality of Houston retail. In the Zadok Magazine , we have a section dedicated to our mixed-use project, Post Oak Place. As you turn the pages, with descriptions of the new experiences, design features, pop-ups, lounges and expanded jewelry and timepiece boutiques that await you, we hope you share in our excitement. We look forward to welcoming you into our new “home,” with innovative ways to help you relax and enjoy the dynamic

and elevated Zadok experience. A principle tenet of ours is that our customers are the center of our business. Our growth would not have been possible without your support. Your trust in us continues to guide us. Many, many heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff, who have consistently proven that they uphold our high business ethics and standards, and work diligently for our continued growth and success. This year we are all experiencing a personal and communal year as never before; facing challenges on many fronts. We have put into place safety procedures to keep both our visitors and staff safe, and have added more ways to interact, including curbside pick-up, virtual appointments and educational and fun zoom sessions. We will continue to do what it takes to safely maintain and create new relationships. We appreciate our clients’ support more than we can adequately express, and are confident that we will overcome our present difficulties together. We must remember that “to make rainbows, you need sun and rain.” We hope that we can contribute to bringing sun and rain into your lives, by helping you celebrate life’s joys and creating your own personal rainbow. As author Catherine Pulsifer wrote, “To find optimism, look for the good things in life.” Another one of our goals is to help you enhance the “good things” in your life.

With appreciation and gratitude,

Helene and Dror, Michelle and Jonathan, Amy and Segev, Lisa and Gilad Zadok And the Zadok staff

Portugieser Yacht Club. Ref. 3907: Sheets trimmed tight, your hands firmly on the wheel: the bow turns slowly through the wind, and the boat begins to pick up speed. For more than 80 years, the IWC Portugieser has been the watch of choice for ambitious individualists, who continuously look ahead and have clearly defined goals. Developed in the late 1930s and based on a hunter pocket watch movement, its clean, functional design took its inspiration from the deck watches used back then to calculate longitude. As a result, this timelessly modern watch combines the stylistic heritage of a pocket watch with the precision and readability of a nautical instrument. So, it’s small wonder that lucky owners of this watch are only too ready to take on the elements and conf idently set sail for new horizons. Fully aware that beyond each of those horizons, they can be sure of discovering their next goal.

The universe comes to life with the passage of time. Time is Nature with all her expressions. Each moment, minute and second a unique expression.

The passage of time has always been deeply embraced in Japan. This spirituality lives within every Grand Seiko.

Ever-changing, graceful and grand. Its design unveils the differing expressions of nature as light becomes shadow. Meticulously crafted. Nature incarnated in every detail of its artistry.

A tribute. In deep reverence.

ZADOK JEWELERS:

NOW BEGINS FUTURE

The Z

adok. It is a name as old as the Bible and the name of the jewelers to a royal court. It is also a name

“With the high cost of land, especially on a prestigious street like Post Oak Boulevard, it was imperative we take the long view,” says Jonathan. “Our goal was a legacy store to be the future of Zadok Jewelers. It made sound economic sense to commit to building up as well, to maximize the use of the 1.65- acre site, and to surround the store with like-minded partners and complimentary businesses.” Thus, the envisioned new store became part of a much larger mixed-use development. Zadok Jewelers is the anchor store of the beautiful new Post Oak Place, nearing completion at 1801 Post Oak Boulevard, in the heart of Houston’s popular Galleria shopping area. “The decision to create a store for 2021 and beyond, as well as the decision to wrap it within a luxury mixed-use development project with office space and restaurants creates a legacy for our store, our family, and the future of retail in Houston,” Jonathan concludes.

that appears in the National Jewelers Hall of Fame, and since the mid 1970s, it has been synonymous with fine jewelry and timepieces in Houston. Today it’s the name on everyone’s lips, as the new Zadok jewelry store and building complex prepare to open in a spectacular location just down the street from their current premises. Jewelry and watch shopping in the 21st century will never be the same. “We wanted to build for the future,” explains Jonathan Zadok, an active partner in the store and son of the founders, Jewelry Hall of Fame-honored Dror and Helene Zadok. Along with his brothers, Segev and Gilad, and their wives, the future of the seventh-generation family business is in capable and experienced hands. Dror and Helene moved the business to Houston in 1976 and opened their store in leased space on Post Oak Boulevard. After several expansions and remodels, it was clear that building for the future was in order.

WELCOME TO POST OAK PLACE

The mixed-use development was designed by Jay Colombo, AIA, Partner at the Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. The sophisticated design combines what Jonathan Zadok calls “Fifth Avenue meets the Meat-Packing District,” and features a cohesive design composed of glass for the upper level exteriors, a variety of brick fronts for restaurant faces, and genuine Lueders, Texas, limestone for the new Zadok location. Locally sourced materials, among many other factors that have been incorporated into the building, make this building a green building and will be certified LEED Silver. A 26-foot drive-through arcade is flanked by the new two-level Zadok store and two-level restaurants, including Uchiko. One of the most popular dining establishments in Austin, Uchiko is a concept of Hai Hospitality Group, and will make its Houston debut at the location in Post Oak Place. The restaurant will feature contemporary Japanese cuisine and sushi, created by Tyson Cole, a James Beard award- winning chef and sushi master. The new Houston location will also debut a whiskey bar highlighting Japanese whiskeys. The principal tenant of the office portion of the building is Northern Trust, a preeminent global financial institution, providing investment and wealth management services. One of the largest banks in the United States, it has offices in 22 states and 23 countries. In Texas, Northern Trust has offices in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, and Houston. Post Oak Place will feature ample self-parking, as well as valet service.

THE ZADOK JEWELERS EXPERIENCE One of the notable changes Zadok Jewelers will offer its customers is an entirely new lifestyle store experience. Only possible because the retail store is now more than double its original size and two stories, the new Zadok Jewelers will allow shoppers the luxury of space and privacy in a relaxed atmosphere that will always feel comfortable, as well as elegant. Guests can relax in one of the store’s lounges: savor the surroundings, or toast a special occasion with a flute of champagne at Zadok’s new champagne bar; relax in the veritable oasis that is the Nina Magon Lounge — created by the extraordinary Nina Magon, interior designer, founder and CEO of Contour Interiors; and sip a coffee at the Panerai Shop-in-Shop and Bar or the Audemars Piguet Corner and Lounge.

Zadok Jewelers will also house several watch boutiques inside the store including Jaeger LeCoultre, IWC, Vacheron Constantin and A. Lange & Sohne. The boutiques will make guests feel as if they are in the same-named store on Fifth Avenue in New York. Zadok Jewelers is proud to have access to their full product collections, including boutique only exclusive pieces. Other noteworthy areas include the Cartier E’space, which will host one of the largest Cartier watch collections in the country in a very special, luxurious lounge that will feel like a “Cartier” home. Similarly, the F.P. Journe E’space will also include brand specific furniture and displays. Zadok’s is the only F.P. Journe dealer in the Southwest and will have access to e’space only exclusive pieces. The Hublot Corner will house the largest shop-in-shop in the country.

Customers, brides, and their bridal parties, are invited to try on their dresses, with their jewelry to complete the look. With boutiques, pop-up shops and lounges, combined with the rarified atmosphere that blends elegance and a warm welcome with knowledgeable and friendly family and staff to assist, surely jewelry and timepiece shopping have come of age on Houston’s Post Oak Boulevard.

THE MAGIC OF COLORED

GEMSTONES

B

ecause gemstones are created by nature, people have always believed they have a special energy and mystical properties. Belief in gem powers has existed for nearly 5,000 years. Depending on the era and the civilization, colored stones have been associated with wealth, power, love, safety, and well-being. Some people think gem lore is silly — how could a simple rock have such power? I would argue that wearing a beautiful gemstone has the power to promote

emotional wellbeing and strength just by making you feel beautiful and powerful. Gemstones allow us to illuminate our individual spirits and express our sense of style. Everyone responds to color, and each hue works its own special, secret magic. From amethyst and

garnet to the finest rubies and emeralds, jewelry designers are constantly finding new ways of conveying that power. Here are some recent examples and a glimpse into the special magic of gem colors.

LOOKS TO THE TIMELESS AND THOROUGHLY MILANESE, THE GOLD ICONICA COLLECTION IS JOINED BY NEW MODELS POMELLATO FUTURE

A

s its name suggests, Iconica encapsulates the essence of Pomellato’s goldsmithing skills and its links to the effortless elegance of Milan. Today, slender new rings, bangles and earrings join the ranks of this noble collection. Launched in 2017 to mark the Milanese jeweler’s 50th anniversary, Iconica celebrates Pomellato’s goldsmithing heritage. Half a century of savoir-faire has been lovingly preserved in the firm’s workshop and today is deployed to create a new generation of gold jewels. Vincenzo Castaldo, Creative Director of Pomellato , explains: “The simplicity of the new Iconica bangle reveals Pomellato’s deep love for minimal but generously proportioned shapes.” Eternally stylish yet channeling the trend for smaller jewels, Iconica now offers a wider range of all-gold designs without losing its unique look. Inspired by its signature gold chains, Pomellato has refined the generous dimensions of Iconica to create slimmer jewels that retain the sensual volume and minimal appeal of the collection.

The chain reaction begins with rings comprised of two coils of rose or white gold, united by a transversal link based on the traditional “schiava” bangle. Echoing the design are four bangles that sparkle with different degrees of diamond pavé as well as a pair of lobe-hugging earrings. All but one of the new Iconica jewels are enhanced by white or brown diamond pavé, painstakingly set by hand using Pomellato’s time- honored artisanal methods. With these new

arrivals, Pomellato keeps Iconica fresh and fashionable — the perfect accent of understated Italian sophistication.
