The lava pavé setting is inspired by Bali’s sinuous lava flows. It showcases an artistic curation of cuts, shapes, sizes, and exotic gradients that evoke the raw power of nature. Palu is the time-honored Balinese art of hand-hammering metal to produce a lustrous textured surface. Traditionally performed by Balinese artisans, the metal is heated and hammered to produce small dips within the metal that catch and refract light. The surface treatment was originally inspired by the sailboats in Bali, an example of the influence of local culture on the John Hardy collection.
