DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT

BY LAURIE BROOKINS

Styl e meets Sparkle

F ew heritage labels excel at blending the design codes of their house with a sense of modernity that appeals across a wide range of customer tastes, but Gucci makes this challenge look effortless. Designed by creative director Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s Link to Love jewelry collection showcases the brand’s ingenuity. The 18k gold collection is not only steeped in the DNA of the brand, it’s also tailor- made for layering and customization. Fold in a variety of pieces, all of which are gender- neutral, and Link to Love is designed to be as forward-thinking as it is versatile.

The octagonal-shaped rings in Link to Love perhaps best express this idea. Available in three widths, the sculpted rings are stackable, which, along with the choices of enamel, gemstone, and diamond highlights, allow the wearer to create a look that’s decidedly personal. Embellishment options include green tourmalines, rubellites, and black enamel — colors that, when stacked, evoke Gucci’s iconic web stripes. Fashion’s popular layering trend is key to the bracelets and necklaces in the collection. Like the rings, the delicate chain designs can

be embellished with gemstones, enamel, or diamonds. Engraved with the Gucci logo, the bar pendants on Link to Love’s lariat necklaces also make a statement. Ultimately, Link to Love is a collection made to be worn and enjoyed in a highly personal way, which dovetails nicely with Alessandro Michele’s overall design aesthetic: unafraid to bend the rules, but always with an eye toward iconic Gucci style.
