Oris The Refreshed
Big Crown Pointer Date Collection
F First introduced in 1938, the Big Crown Pointer Date has become one of Oris’s most recognizable designs. Originally developed for pilots, its oversized crown was easy to grip while wearing gloves, and its central date hand tipped with a red arrow made the dial highly legible. What began as a practical aviator’s tool has evolved into Oris’s signature model, a watch that bridges the brand’s history with its present. For 2025, Oris breathes new life into the Big Crown Pointer Date with fresh updates and colorful dials. The new collection spans three editions, two case sizes, and a variety of dial colors. A new H-link stainless steel bracelet also joins the lineup, offering a sportier option alongside sustainable deer leather straps developed in collaboration with Cervo Volante. At the top of the range is the 40 mm Big Crown Pointer Date Caliber 403, distinguished by its running seconds subdial and Oris’s five-day automatic movement. Available with either a green or terracotta dial, both offered on a brown strap or a steel bracelet, these models bring modern technical prowess to the line while preserving its vintage-inspired appeal.
GREAT DESIGN NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE; IT SIMPLY REINVENTS ITSELF FOR EACH GENERATION.
In addition to the flagship, the collection also welcomes three Big Crown Pointer Date models, offered in vibrant yellow, lilac, or blue dials. Powered by the Oris 754 automatic movement with 41 hours of power reserve, they highlight the joyful side of the Pointer Date while preserving the model’s robust functionality that has kept it relevant for decades. Rounding out the refreshed lineup is the new 34 mm Big Crown, available with either a textured beige dial or a diamond-set black dial. Running on the Oris 531 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, these compact no-date editions are paired with steel bracelets. What makes the Big Crown Pointer Date so enduring is its balance of heritage and modernity. Nearly 90 years on, it remains faithful to its aviation roots while adapting to contemporary tastes with new sizes, bracelets, and colorways. It’s a watch that proves great design never goes out of style; it simply reinvents itself for each generation.
