By 1964 , Alvin, along with his children, opened Alson Jewelers at East 26th and St. Clair Avenue. The name “Alson” was derived from combining Alvin’s name, “Al” and his two “sons” into Alson. The business grew, and in 1972 , the Alson building expanded from 5,000 square feet to 8,000 square feet. In 1989, Cartier selected Alson as the exclusive jeweler in Ohio to carry their watch collection. This partnership marked a significant milestone in the company’s history.

In the 1990s , both of Richard’s sons, David and Chad, joined the business.
