Just a Guy That Enjoys Telling the Time
F For some, a watch collection represents moments in time that should be remembered forever. For others, a collection represents significant people who have permanently and profoundly impacted their life. I still remember my first timepiece: a modest investment, but big for me at the time. I never imagined that a single visit to my local luxury jeweler would spark such a love and

appreciation for something so lasting. Years later, a look inside my watch box is a trip down memory lane. As a watch enthusiast, I am always eager to understand more about the architecture, craftsmanship, and artistry found in each timepiece. I find myself regularly consuming both long- and short-form content to find the latest news and innovations in the world of
fine watch design: a 15-minute video sharing the W’s and L’s from this year’s “Watches and Wonders” event; a 60-second short on the desirability of Tudor’s most unexpected release of 2024; or a spontaneous conversation with the friends I’ve made at that same local luxury jeweler where I found my very first timepiece. It’s a fascinating and deep passion for me and many others.
We honor the history and the story that each timepiece has to tell: a diver meant to sink thou- sands of meters below the ocean’s surface; a tool watch meant for doctors to count pulsations of the human heart (our internal watch, some may say); or a timepiece built as art from the world’s finest precious metals. Looking back at the last year in watches, there is a lot to love about the direction of the world’s top brands. The popularity of bright dials is definitely on the rise. Our favorite brands are incorporating patterns, ombre, pinks, blues, greens, and even
upcycled material into dial designs and other watch elements. Watches are also more light- weight than ever, with titanium and proprietary blends of carbon fiber finding their way into many of the latest builds. The technology under the hood is also advancing, as well-decorated, insanely accurate movements are meticulously designed. We look to our favorite brands to continue to amaze and excite us with heirlooms crafted with innovation and artistry, as they have so many times before.
My horological wish for all of us is that our love for the beauty of watches continues to flourish and that we’re all fortunate enough to continue wearing our favorites in good health. I am sure the near future has exciting things in store from our favorite brands, and I’ll be making the most of my time and my collection with each passing day.
