Here we are, at the end of another calendar year — but not just any year…our 50th! Who would have thought we’d be able to achieve another record-breaking year? Thanks to YOU, our 50th year has been our best yet. The Brown & Co. team has worked incredibly hard to make the experience of stepping into one of our stores better with each visit. As we all know, work is work; it has its challenges. But at the end of the day, we are fortunate to do what we love — sharing our passion for the quality items we offer, pieces that will be worn and cherished for years and passed down through generations.

Our Buckhead Village location celebrated its one-year anniversary, and our Patek Philippe location is opening soon (hopefully by the time you read this!). In 2025, our Roswell location will undergo a major and very exciting renovation. Our team has grown significantly, and we’ve continued to carefully curate and diversify our inventory. You won’t be able to walk into one of our stores without finding exactly what you’re looking for — and if that happens to be the case, we will simply create it for you. We are constantly challenging ourselves to do better for you. Our goal is to ensure Brown & Co. exceeds your expectations, every time. We are honored to be Atlanta’s jeweler. Atlanta has been so good to us for the past 50 years, and it’s exciting to think about what the next 50 will bring. Brown & Co. loves Atlanta. We plan to continue growing and investing in this city — and in our fellow Atlantans — just as Atlanta has invested in us. We don’t plan on stopping any time soon. Amid all the exciting growth and change, we haven’t lost sight of what’s most important: you, our loyal customers . I will once again dedicate the Brown & Co. magazine to you because, without you, none of this would be possible. We remain grateful and inspired. Happy Holidays! Enjoy! Much Love,

PATEK PHILIPPE BOUTIQUE OPENING IN ATLANTA, GA TIME the greatest of all

L egendary. It’s a weighty word. But to discerning watch collectors, there is no other brand with the history and quality of Patek Philippe. Founded by Antoine Norbert de Patek (1839) and Jean Adrien Philippe (1845), the Swiss manufacture has been synonymous with luxury horology for more than 180 years. Patek Philippe has continued to create timepieces of unexcelled quality and dependability, characterized by craftsmanship and innovation. While many local collectors and enthusiasts are eager to own a Patek, procuring one in person has historically required travel. Patek Philippe Salons exist only in London, Paris, and Geneva, with a limited number of authorized dealers in the United States. Recently, Atlanta has joined a small, select collection of U.S. cities with their own Patek Philippe boutique. Brown & Co. Jewelers will open Atlanta’s first exclusive Patek Philippe boutique this year, providing the unique chance to experience some of the world’s finest Swiss timepieces in an intimate and educational environment. Company founder Frank Brown became an official Patek retailer in 2017, and during the last seven years, the two trusted brands have shared a mutual commitment to innovation, tradition, and customer service.

TWO INDEPENDENT, FAMILY-OWNED BRANDS

“We know Patek Philippe has been very intentional with its distribution domestically and internationally — with only a select number of authorized retailers in its network. Our family is honored to be entrusted with the Patek Philippe brand in Atlanta,” said Brown & Co. president Sara Beth Prendeville. “Our partnership illustrates the guiding principles behind our two brands, and we love welcoming our clients to this new exclusive location.” The boutique opening this holiday season is located in Buckhead Village, directly across from the newest Brown & Co. location. Merging the history of Patek Philippe with the vibrancy of Atlanta, the singular-focus store ushers in an exciting new chapter for the Brown family business and its loyal clientele. “We are excited to partner with Brown & Company Jewelers in expanding Patek Philippe’s presence in Atlanta,” said Lisa Jones, president of Patek Philippe USA. “The Brown family has held an admirable and premier position in the Atlanta market, and we have the utmost confidence in their expertise and ability to uphold Patek Philippe’s highest of standards. We are pleased to provide a welcoming and interactive environment where existing and new clientele can immerse themselves in the world of Patek Philippe and receive an unparalleled customer experience.”

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

By 1:30 pm on a Monday afternoon in Orapa, Botswana, a mining town over 300 miles from the country’s capital, Gaborone, the classrooms at the Livingstone House Primary School had emptied for the day. Except for one. The students in third grade had stayed late, not as a punishment but a reward. “Who are we going to see?” Emily Mompe, the class’s teacher, asked the room of 8 and 9-year-olds. “Lily James!” they answered in unison.

MEET LILY JAMES

in Botswana

FOLLOWING THE JOURNEY OF NATURAL DIAMONDS WAS LIFE-CHANGING FOR NDC’S GLOBAL AMBASSADOR.

The English actress is known for her roles in Pam & Tommy and Downton Abbey , but the kids remember her as Cinderella from the 2015 Disney film. When she arrived, they plied her with questions: How did you become an actress? Where do you live? “Can I have your phone number?” one boy inquired. James was in Botswana to get an education herself. When she signed on to be the Natural Diamond Council’s global ambassador, it was not to play a character. Her trip included visits to every part of the

local diamond value chain — the Karowe Mine, De Beers Global Sales, KGK Diamonds cutting and polishing unit — and the surrounding communities and the Orapa Game Park, where rhinos, zebras, giraffes and impalas live on 50,000 protected hectares. “You want to make sure when you’re putting your name to something, that there’s more to the story,” said James. “Part of all of this is about breaking down any stigma and really telling the true diamond story. With regards to Botswana, the ethical side of it was a massive draw.”

22 BROWN & CO. JEWELERS MAGAZINE

James was educated about the country’s unique relationship with natural diamond mining, which at 33 percent is the largest contributor to the country’s GDP. Botswana was a British Protectorate from 1895 to 1966 when it declared its independence. Diamonds were discovered the following year, and the mineral is owned by the country per the prescience of the country’s first president, Sir Seretse Goitsebeng Maphiri Khama. Any diamond-related industry is conducted via a licensing agreement with the government, which puts more than 80 percent of revenues back into the country’s economy. Botswana has a large middle class and investment in critical infrastructure, such as hospitals, roads, and schools. The Livingstone House Primary School is one of four in Orapa funded by Debswana, a 50/50 joint venture between De Beers and the government of Botswana, providing free primary and secondary school education to every child. Many of the students’ parents are employed by the natural diamond industry, but the kids are encouraged to envision life beyond. “I asked them all what they wanted to be when they grow up and the answers were presidents, vets, doctors, rappers,” said James.

Lily James with students at the Livingstone House Primary School.

Orapa is home to two active diamond mines — the Orapa mine, owned by De Beers, and the Karowe mine, owned by Lucara, which recently secured $550 million to extend the mine’s life to at least 2040. That means more jobs, more growth, more progress and stability in Orapa. Karowe’s workforce is 31 percent female and 75 percent of its executive committee is female, including its CEO Eira Thomas. The mine supports 18 villages, reinvesting in their economies and communities via healthcare, education, agriculture and Gender Based Violence initiatives. “In some villages the girls didn’t have access to sanitary towels, so they weren’t able to go to school,” said James. “Now, Karowe is providing that for free. It’s such a simple thing, but the impact is huge.” James’s trip followed the route of the “rough” mined in Orapa to the city of Gaborone, where much of the raw material ends up at KGK Diamonds, the largest diamond cutting and polishing facility in the city. Run by Siddarth Gothi, KGK prioritizes employing disabled and disadvantaged young adults. Armstrong Gabanamotse is a 23-year-old polisher who started with the company in 2019 and now operates KGK’s most technologically advanced machine, the Optimus, to yield fancy cuts. “From rough to the final product, when you look at it, it gives you a smile,” Kamanan said. “I’ve made something shine.” One of the final stops on James’s trip is the De Beers Global Sightholder Sales, where rough diamonds from all over the world are sorted and sold. Security is tight. More than 32 million carats in diamonds passed through the building in 2021. “You really feel the power,” said James, holding a 100 carat stone in her hand. “This is Mother Nature. These stones were created billions of years ago, lifted up to the earth’s surface via volcanoes.”

SPECTRUM OF STYLE

By Jennifer Brugh

I

In recent years, layering jewelry has become a fashion must. Throughout the seasons, we’ve witnessed all the ways you can customize the “neck-mess,” stack bold statement pieces around the wrist, or even accentuate a look with various ear accessories. And this year, we’re mixing in even more color.

INFUSING EVERYDAY ELEGANCE WITH VIBRANCY

Adding colorful gemstones to your collection is easier than you think. The wrist is always a good place to start: mix gold bangles with a few bold, colorful gemstone bracelets for a playful yet sophisticated stack. For your neck, try layering delicate chains with different gemstone pendants, combining green, pink, purple, or even blue hues that add a refreshing touch to your outfit.

The beauty of incorporating colorful gemstones is their versatility. Whether you’re dressing up for a special occasion or keeping it casual, these pieces can effortlessly enhance your wardrobe. For example, a simple white blouse can easily transform from bland to bold with several strategically placed pieces. Stack a few bracelets in varying shades of blue and green, or mix in a bold, multi-colored gemstone ring to draw attention to your hands.

Whether it’s a pop of emerald green or a hint of sapphire blue, vibrant gemstones are redefining how you accessorize. So, it’s time to infuse your style with some color play.

28 BROWN & CO. JEWELERS MAGAZINE

Another idea is to incorporate color into your earrings. A pair of emerald or sapphire studs can add just the right amount of vibrancy without being too flashy. For a more daring look, try mixing different colored gemstones. Infusing your attire with colorful layers not only elevates your style but also adds a fun and playful element to everyday looks. Remember, it’s all about having fun and expressing your uniqueness. So go ahead, layer it on, play with color, and make a statement with your jewelry.

Masai A LUXURIOUS BLEND OF LEGENDARY TRADITIONS by Marco Bicego

A

A legacy of craftsmanship unfolds in the quiet elegance of an artisan’s workshop in Trissino, Italy. Here, amidst the delicate hum of creativity, Marco Bicego brings to life his latest masterpiece: the 2024 Masai collection. Inspired by the art and tradition of the legendary African civilization, the Masai collection whispers tales of ancient beauty and modern sophistication, captivating hearts with its clean lines and timeless elegance. At the heart of these inspired pieces is a unique technique exclusive to the Marco Bicego brand: the flat golden coil. Inspired by the distinctive stacked style of jewelry worn by the Maasai women, the collection features this refined detail by wrapping a gold wire around a woven chain and then pressing it to form a semi-rigid gold ribbon. The result is a beautiful, fluid piece that translates effortlessly into various silhouettes, creating a collection that is both versatile and striking.

“The appearance of Maasai women, particularly their decorative, unique style of wearing stacked jewelry, was a subject of great interest and intrigue to me as I was conceiving this collection,” explained Marco Bicego, founder and creative director of the eponymous brand. “I wanted to experiment with the flat coil, our exclusive and distinctive craftsmanship technique, in combination with brilliant- cut diamonds for unparalleled radiance. And in this latest evolution of the collection, I wanted to introduce stacking bangles that perfectly complement each other, styling elegantly either together or alone. You can accumulate flat coil rings, bracelets, and necklaces without ever looking overloaded, quite the contrary.” The Masai collection is full of stunning and luxurious wearables that elevate your everyday attire with ease. Picture contemporary pieces like bangles, huggies, statement rings, and collars featuring 18 karat gold and brilliant-cut diamond bars. This classic combination of luxurious gold coils and a touch of sparkling diamonds and gemstones creates an ultra-glamorous yet effortless style. Each piece is designed for those who appreciate the finer things in life.

32 BROWN & CO. JEWELERS MAGAZINE

Highlights of the Collection Among the standout pieces in the Masai collection are the bangles. These bestsellers, available in yellow, rose, and white gold and sometimes accented with pavé diamonds, are a testament to the brand’s commitment to excellence. The sleek oval design of the bangles is both rigid and flexible, thanks to the innovative coil technique and integrated clasp. This not only ensures ease of wear but also invites

layering, encouraging a “more is more” approach to accessorizing. Stacking these bangles creates a stunning effect, enhancing their inherent beauty and making a bold statement.

The Masai Collection: A Perfect Symphony For those who seek the perfect blend of contemporary style and timeless elegance, Marco Bicego’s Masai collection is a must-have. Watch as any embellishment in this collection effortlessly transforms your daytime office attire into a graceful evening ensemble.

CLASSIC DESIGNS BEAUTIFULLY DISRUPTED

This year, jewelry trends are taking an exhilarating turn. While styles naturally evolve, the trend of incorporating multi-shaped diamond cuts into classic designs is the most stunning disruption we’ve seen in decades. From tennis bracelets and necklaces to earrings, the infusion of diverse diamond cuts captures everyone’s attention. Imagine the timeless elegance of a tennis bracelet or eternity band, now transformed with a dazzling mix of round, princess, emerald, and marquise cuts. Each shape reflects light differently, creating a dynamic interplay that catches the eye and adds a contemporary twist to a beloved classic. The beauty of this trend lies in its organic feel, reminiscent of diamonds sprinkled effortlessly or puzzled together side by side.

What’s truly inspiring about these designs is their versatility. You can seamlessly integrate these new pieces into your existing collection, creating a look that’s both harmonious and refreshingly distinct. Imagine layering a multi-shaped diamond necklace with a traditional solitaire pendant or wearing earrings that combine different cuts for a look that’s as refined as it is contemporary. Our favorite part of this trend is its ability to make a bold statement while maintaining an air of gracefulness. It’s perfect for those who appreciate the artistry of jewelry and want to express their individuality with bold, mixed-shape jewelry designs. These pieces are not just accessories; they are conversations waiting to happen, perfect for anyone who loves to stand out.

AS WE EXPLORE THE LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES, WE’RE REMINDED THAT BEAUTY TRULY LIES IN THE UNEXPECTED.

34 BROWN & CO. JEWELERS MAGAZINE

With each embellishment, the rules of classic elegance are rewritten and creative boundaries are tested. This is more than a fashion trend; it’s a movement towards embracing diversity in design.

Tudor Black Bay

T

Tudor introduces the newest iteration of the Black Bay in monochrome. Representing the latest in Black Bay, this model features evolved design elements, a “T-fit” clasp, and is Master Chronometer certified by METAS. The Black Bay, first launched in 2012, remains one of Tudor’s most recognized and beloved models. In its latest iteration, the case keeps the original proportions of a 41 mm case with a thinner profile. The unidirectional rotatable bezel features a black aluminum insert with a 60-minute scale to track immersion times, and the satin black dial is softly radial-brushed for a subtle shine under direct light. The Black Bay line features dials inspired by the Tudor divers’ watches produced during the 1950s. It borrows the characteristic angular hands known to collectors as

“snowflake” from models that appeared in the brand’s 1969 catalog. Its shoulder-less crown and the characteristics of its case are reminiscent of the first generations of Tudor divers’ watches. The new monochrome Black Bay ref. M7941A1A0NU comes fitted with either an entirely satin-brushed three-link stainless steel bracelet, a five-oval-shaped- link brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet, or a cut-to-size black rubber strap. All variations are equipped with the Tudor “T-fit” clasp with a system for rapid length adjustment. Easy to use, requiring no tools, and offering five positions, this practical system allows wearers to carry out a fine, instant adjustment of the total length of the bracelet along an adjustment window of 8 mm.

The METAS Master Chronometer-certified Manufacture Caliber MT5602-U automatic movement displays hour, minute, and seconds functions. The METAS Master Chronometer certification is comprehensive and covers the main functional characteristics of a watch. As such, the new Black Bay functions within a 5-second range of variation each day (0/+5), boasts resistance to 15,000 gauss of magnetic fields, is water-resistant to 660 feet, and includes a power reserve of 70 hours.

THE BLACK BAY IS THE RESULT OF THE SUBTLE BLEND OF TRADITIONAL AESTHETICS AND CONTEMPORARY WATCHMAKING. FAR FROM SIMPLY BEING AN IDENTICAL RE-RELEASE OF A CLASSIC, IT BRINGS TOGETHER 70 YEARS OF TUDOR DIVE WATCHES WHILE ALSO BEING RESOLUTELY ANCHORED IN THE PRESENT.

CALENDARS Patek Philippe Whether one considers the precious perpetual calendars — classic Grand Complications par excellence — or the ingenious Annual Calendar, which the manufacture patented in 1996, Patek Philippe offers a wide range of calendar watches distinguished by their exterior features and their particular display mode. The range has become even more extensive with the addition of the platinum In-Line Perpetual Calendar Reference 5236P-010 and the white gold Annual Calendar Reference 5396G-017.

In-Line Perpetual Calendar Reference 5236P-010 In 2021, Patek Philippe unveiled a new perpetual calendar with day, date, and month indications in one large aperture at the 12 o’clock position. Equipped with its distinctive patented display mode, this timepiece was launched in a platinum case framing a blue dial with a black gradation to the periphery. The manufacture is now revisiting this platinum model, endowing it with a rose-gilt opaline dial of vintage inspiration presenting faceted baton-style applied hour markers and faceted baton-style hands, all in charcoal-gray white gold. The in-line perpetual calendar Reference 5236P-010’s elegant 41.5 mm

platinum case, which is entirely hand-polished, is set with a diamond at 6 o’clock. Completing the new rose-gilt opaline is the hand-stitched shiny chocolate brown alligator leather strap with square scales, furnished with a platinum fold-over clasp. The Caliber 31-260 PS QL ultra-thin self- winding movement is notable for its additional module, awarded three patents, and its mini-rotor in platinum increasing the winding power. The movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back and it supplies up to 48 hours of power reserve.

Annual Calendar Reference 5396G-017 With its double day/month aperture at 12 o’clock, date aperture at 6 o’clock, and its subsidiary 24-hour dial incorporating a moon-phase display, the men’s Annual Calendar Reference 5396, launched in 2006, has established itself as a firm favorite. Patek Philippe is now bringing out a new version in 18 karat white gold. The 38.5 mm white gold case (11.2 mm thick) features a blue sunburst dial with a black gradient at the rim, lit discreetly by the radiance of twelve baguette-cut diamond hour markers (0.26 ct). This elegant contrast plays up the extreme restraint and legibility of the dial design,

with its faceted dauphine-style hands in white gold and slender sweep seconds hand. An alligator leather strap in shiny navy blue echoes the dial color. It is secured by a fold-over clasp in white gold. This new Annual Calendar Reference 5396G-017 houses the Caliber 26-330 S QA LU 24H self-winding movement, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, with a power reserve of up to 45 hours and operates at 28,800 beats per hour. The movement requires only one manual adjustment per year, at the end of February.

Merit Partners AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES, PERSONALIZED SERVICE

I

Imagine this moment: you’re sitting behind the wheel of a Porsche or Ferrari, hands gripping the leather steering wheel, and the engine purring beneath you. It’s not just any car — it’s a masterpiece of engineering, a symbol of achievement, a vehicle that stirs something deep within. But the thrill of owning one of these cars is only part of the journey. At Merit Partners, this experience begins long before you turn the key. Founded by Burt Strange and Jonathan Hull, Merit Partners was born out of a passion for Porsche and Ferrari but with a vision that goes far beyond the cars themselves. “We don’t just sell cars; we curate collections and foster relationships,” Hull explains. For those who appreciate rarity, craftsmanship, and legacy, Merit Partners offers a truly personalized experience designed to fulfill not only the desire to own a masterpiece but to immerse yourself in the process.

From the very first conversation, the team at Merit Partners takes a tailored, concierge-level approach. “We start by understanding the client’s goals — whether they’re looking to commemorate a milestone, expand their collection, or experience something truly unique,” Hull says. It’s this advisory approach that sets Merit Partners apart. They don’t rush into selling what’s on the floor; instead, they guide each client through a journey of discovery, often sourcing rare, limited-edition cars from across the globe. The vehicles themselves are rare gems handpicked from private collectors and garages from around the world. Hull describes it as a hunt, where each car is treated as an investment — an asset whose value goes beyond performance. “These cars are part of history,” he says. “Owning one is about more than the thrill of driving — it’s about the legacy and the craftsmanship behind it.”

When clients come to Merit Partners, the experience is nothing short of luxurious. This is not a dealership with rows of cars and quick transactions. It’s an invite-only experience where you, the client, become the center of attention. Upon arriving at the Atlanta facility, you’re welcomed into an intimate, one-on-one environment where you can explore and connect with the cars in a way that feels forbidden yet deeply personal. “Clients get the whole place to themselves,” Jonathan says. “They touch the cars, drive them, and experience what makes them special, in an environment that’s tailored to their needs.” For those who want more than just to buy a car — who want to connect with a legacy, feel the power

of rarity, and savor the exclusivity — Merit Partners offers a journey unlike any other. In much the same way one would select a piece of fine jewelry from Brown & Co., owning a Porsche or Ferrari is about more than the purchase; it’s about the experience, the legacy, and the craftsmanship behind each piece. Every detail is handled with precision and care, making the process of owning a luxury car a celebration of what truly drives you. Jaeger-LeCoultre

T The Reverso watch was created to withstand the rigors of polo matches. Its subtle Art Deco lines and unique, pioneering, reversible case have made it one of the world’s most recognizable watches. The Reverso showcases our craftsmanship at its most creative, inventive and innovative and has housed more than 50 different calibers. It has been an exceptional canvas for creativity — fiercely original, defiantly distinctive, and always extraordinary.

REVERSO TRIBUTE SMALL SECONDS

Since its creation in 1931, Reverso has created many timeless stories, establishing it as the icon of Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Reverso is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s signature collection. The flip-over case was originally created for polo players to protect their watch dials from the rigors of the polo mallet (in the days before sapphire crystals). Today, the

reversible case is handy for showing dual time zones or second dial options. The design is also considered a pure, authentic expression of the Art Deco aesthetic. Since 1931, the Reverso has housed over 50 different mechanical movements, from the world’s smallest to largest complications, ranging from ultra- thin movements to tourbillons and minute repeaters. The Reverso Tribute Small Seconds is one of the purist interpretations, with a blue sunray brushed dial and applied hour markers.

IWC Portugieser Automatic Refreshed

T

The origins of the Portugieser date back to the late 1930s, when IWC Schaffhausen used a high-precision pocket watch movement to create a distinctively large wristwatch with chronometer precision at the request of two Portuguese businessmen. The Portugieser remains timeless and has retained its freshness to this day. Clean and open dials with applied Arabic numerals, Feuille-type hands, and the characteristic railway-style minutes scale ensure perfect legibility. IWC Schaffhausen has now refined its timelessly elegant Portugieser watches on every level and presents a new collection of the Portugieser Automatic 42 and the

Portugieser Automatic 40. All watches feature a carefully reworked case construction with a slender side profile, making them visually light and more elegant. The double box- glass sapphire crystals offer an even better view of the new dials and the IWC-manufactured movements inside. The Portugieser Auto- matic 42 Ref. IW5017 is distinguished by its bal- anced dial design with the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock and the small sec- onds at 9 o’clock. The new versions fully retain the DNA of the original Portugieser Au- tomatic from the year 2000. IWC offers the Portugieser Automatic 42 in 18k white gold, 18k rose gold, and stainless steel. Powering these mod- els is the IWC-manufactured Caliber 52011, complete with a Pellaton wind- ing system that supplies seven days of power reserve (168 hours) via two barrels.

THE NEW SELECTION OF DIAL COLORS, WHICH INCLUDE HORIZON BLUE, OBSIDIAN, DUNE, AND SILVER MOON, REFLECT THE NEVER-ENDING CYCLE OF DAY AND NIGHT, UNDERSCORING THE TIMELESS APPEAL OF THE PORTUGIESER’S DESIGN.

First introduced to the collection in 2020, the Portugieser Automatic 40 Ref. IW3584 presents the essence of the Portugieser design with a more compact case size of 40 millimeters. Standing in direct lineage to the first Portugieser, Reference 325 from 1939, it features a clean and open dial with the small seconds sundial at 6 o’clock. The new versions of the Portugieser Automatic 40 include an 18k white gold model with a Horizon Blue dial and an 18k rose gold edition with a black obsidian dial. Inside the cases is the IWC- manufactured Caliber 82200 with 60 hours of power reserve.

Just a Guy That Enjoys Telling the Time

F For some, a watch collection represents moments in time that should be remembered forever. For others, a collection represents significant people who have permanently and profoundly impacted their life. I still remember my first timepiece: a modest investment, but big for me at the time. I never imagined that a single visit to my local luxury jeweler would spark such a love and

IN THE SWEEP OF A SECOND HAND, A LOVE IS BORN.

appreciation for something so lasting. Years later, a look inside my watch box is a trip down memory lane. As a watch enthusiast, I am always eager to understand more about the architecture, craftsmanship, and artistry found in each timepiece. I find myself regularly consuming both long- and short-form content to find the latest news and innovations in the world of

fine watch design: a 15-minute video sharing the W’s and L’s from this year’s “Watches and Wonders” event; a 60-second short on the desirability of Tudor’s most unexpected release of 2024; or a spontaneous conversation with the friends I’ve made at that same local luxury jeweler where I found my very first timepiece. It’s a fascinating and deep passion for me and many others.

We honor the history and the story that each timepiece has to tell: a diver meant to sink thou- sands of meters below the ocean’s surface; a tool watch meant for doctors to count pulsations of the human heart (our internal watch, some may say); or a timepiece built as art from the world’s finest precious metals. Looking back at the last year in watches, there is a lot to love about the direction of the world’s top brands. The popularity of bright dials is definitely on the rise. Our favorite brands are incorporating patterns, ombre, pinks, blues, greens, and even

upcycled material into dial designs and other watch elements. Watches are also more light- weight than ever, with titanium and proprietary blends of carbon fiber finding their way into many of the latest builds. The technology under the hood is also advancing, as well-decorated, insanely accurate movements are meticulously designed. We look to our favorite brands to continue to amaze and excite us with heirlooms crafted with innovation and artistry, as they have so many times before.

My horological wish for all of us is that our love for the beauty of watches continues to flourish and that we’re all fortunate enough to continue wearing our favorites in good health. I am sure the near future has exciting things in store from our favorite brands, and I’ll be making the most of my time and my collection with each passing day.
