INSIDE THE KENTUCKY DERBY MUSEUM’S 150TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
A s this year marks the 150th anniversary of the Kentucky Derby ® , The Kentucky Derby Museum took not one, but 150 days to celebrate the occasion. The festivities kicked off with a 600-person event over the winter, and the celebrations continued with plenty of museum-hosted Derby tributes, concluding with the larger-than-life 37th Annual Kentucky Derby Museum Ball and Backstretch Party on April 26, 2024. With the support of Davis Jewelers’ Ashley Davis (who is also a member of the Museum’s Board of Directors) and fine jeweler David Yurman, the event raised funds that enabled the nonprofit museum to continue its free offerings, including field trips, immersive exhibits, new program initiatives, and more.

“The Museum is very intentional about internal event planning,” says the Kentucky Derby Museum’s Development Manager, Lauren Baldwin. “Every single event is on brand and fulfills our mission to engage, educate, and excite everyone about the extraordinary experience that is the Kentucky Derby! While we remain consistent with the events that we put on each year, the underlying theme echoes historical significance of that particular year.” Next year marks the Museum’s 40th Anniversary and is anticipated to be yet another banner year.
