TOGETHER FOR A CURE TOM & CHRIS GLAVINE, SHARING A PASSION FOR JEWELRY AND THE COMMUNITY

Tom and Chris Glavine are staples in the Atlanta community. Not only are they known for their impeccable charity work with CURE Childhood Cancer, but they’re also celebrated for their commitment to partnering with those that share similar interests, including Brown & Co. Jewelers. As one of Atlanta’s premier jewelry destinations, Brown & Co. has been the Glavines’ go-to for everything including jewelry, watches, and community support. What started as a simple shopping excursion soon blossomed into the partnership it is today. “It started with me making the mistake of walking in and looking for jewelry for my wife,” Tom joked. “But then I was pleased with the service and the knowledge of the product and the whole nine yards.” Tom said his first experience in the store was low key, yet he was impressed with everyone’s expertise and professionalism while he browsed. Slowly, the Glavines learned more and more about Brown & Co., their missions, and who they are at the business’s core. Now, over 15 years have passed, and Tom and Chris can’t imagine trusting anyone else with their jewelry and charity passions. “They’re a perfect fit for us from a personal standpoint and now, from a charitable standpoint,” Tom said. In 2004, Tom and Chris joined in the fight against childhood cancer. After witnessing the heartbreak cancer brings upon families from their own personal connections, they partnered with CURE. But Chris recognized there was still a need, especially among the community of mothers caring for their sick children, and decided she wanted to do more. Together with the Quiet Heroes host committee, she put together an event to honor these deserving mothers. On September 10, 2005, “A Tribute to Our Quiet Heroes” hosted its first annual event. As community influencers, the Glavines connect businesses around the city with CURE and their fight against childhood cancer, and Brown & Co. has been present from the start. Over the years, the partnership has deepened, and neither Tom nor Chris could have imagined that their contribution would raise more than $5 million and help more than 2,000 mothers and children. Every year, Brown & Co. donates to the Quiet Heroes cause, including the silent auction, to help raise money and support for families and children battling the disease. “You don’t even have to ask them,” Chris said. “We know where their hearts are. It’s not about looking good. They want to be part of the community.” Building this trust with the Glavines and CURE is a testament to how Brown & Co. does business. In fact, the Glavines’ favorite part about their local jeweler is never feeling pressure to buy and knowing they have the freedom to browse. This kind of shopping experience, along with the shared passion for CURE, is what has created lifelong customers out of Tom and Chris Glavine.
