For 30 years, Jody Davis has been a familiar face at Fink’s Jewelers in Roanoke — not because he’s the loudest in the room, but because he’s the one people trust. He’s watched customers come in for life’s big moments, then return years later for the next ones. Jody has built his career the simple way: show up, do what you say you’ll do, keep learning, and take care of people. What drew you to want to work for Fink’s all those years ago? At the time, I was working in the mall, right across the hall from Fink’s Jewelers, so I got to know who they were as a company. I also noticed some of their employees had been there forever. So, the more I learned, the more I liked them. Eventually, I reached out to see if they had an opening, and they did, which turned out to be great for me! Did you always plan on being in jewelry for this long? Growing up in Kentucky, I thought I’d be in the coal mines like my dad and grandpa, but the mines began shutting down and laying people off. So, I got hired at a local jewelry store, learned on the job, and ended up managing it. But when I came to Fink’s, I knew it was different. Fink’s does everything top-notch, and I love that it is so family-oriented.
BLUE SAPPHIRE —THE ICONIC HUE Few gems can evoke deep meaning with the intensity of a blue sapphire. A symbol of loyalty, wisdom, and lasting love, their significance only deepens their beauty. From rich royal blue to velvety midnight and soft cornflower, every shade has its own personality. Paired with brilliant white diamonds, the contrast is captivating, timeless yet fresh, classic yet modern. True blue, it turns out, never goes out of style.
What’s been the best part of the last 30 years? It’s the people. You get to be part of special moments — engagements, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, and births. I’ve been here long enough that I’ve sold to customers and then later helped their children, too. That trust means everything in this line of work. What do you enjoy outside of work? I play guitar — mostly for fun. When the family gets together, we’ll grab a couple of guitars and play. We also spend a lot of time together playing cards (Rook and Canasta are big in our house).
