What’s kept you here for almost 20 years?
With two decades at Fink’s Jewelers under her belt, Melissa Trevey-Boitnott is the one who keeps our Roanoke store on track. She’s usually the first stop when a customer walks in with a repair, a question, or something important they want handled the right way. As office manager, Missie is that friendly, steady face the entire team relies on, and is the go-to person when the customer experience needs an extra pair of hands. It’s the people — customers and coworkers. We get to celebrate the best moments with our clients, and even when someone is going through something difficult, we do everything we can to make it a little easier. Plus, inside the store, we’re a family.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I’m big on what I call “dirt therapy” — gardening, flowers, and yard work. If I can be outside with my hands in the dirt, I’m happy. I also have a decorative fish pond (almost 300 gallons!), and I joke that I’ve been “fish farming” for 13 years. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also my happy place.
apply. I had never worked retail, had no jewelry experience, and I honestly thought I was applying for something more corporate. I was intimidated at first because I didn’t know anything, but I told myself I was either going to tackle this job or let it tackle me. I tackled it, and I’m so glad I did!
