Celebrity watch ambassadors and sporting partnerships are not new to the watch world; it’s a tried-and-tested formula that’s decades old. However, what has emerged more prominently in recent years is the concept of the external partner having more input in the overall design of the watches. From fashion designers and actors to athletes PARTNERSHIPS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE Time to Collaborate
and racing teams, brands are looking beyond their watchmaking ateliers for inspiration. Here are some of the latest collaborations that have produced top-tier timepieces.
Tudor + Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team Tudor has had a long legacy with motorsports and the brand recently partnered with the all-new Visa Cash App RB Formula One team. To celebrate, the Swiss watchmaker created the Black Bay Ceramic “Blue” — a version of its Master Chronometer certified Black Bay Ceramic with a striking blue dial to match the F1 team livery. Aesthetically, the watch combines contemporary, high-tech details with subtle ref- erences to its significant heritage. Its matte black monobloc 41 mm ceramic case has sand-blasted surfaces with beveled edges, mirror-polished for a striking contrast, and is finished with very pronounced lines. Mechanically, the watch represents Tudor’s relentless pursuit of mechanical performance. Tested by the Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), the Master Chronometer certification, which the watch has, is one of the industry’s most demanding standards in terms of chronometry and resistance to magnetic fields. This is the same watch the team drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda, wear around the paddock.
