Many stones on the market are not GIA certified. Some stores prefer to use their own grading system, but it is always worth remembering that a seller will try to grade their own stones higher. GIA certification is, therefore, a mark of a seller who cares enough to ensure that the stones are graded by a neutral third party and a high GIA grade almost always means a high quality stone that you or your loved one will be proud to wear for years.
