BY LAURIE BROOKINS

trends W ith pearls dominating the latest designs in both fine and high jewelry, which styles should be on your radar? Here’s a trio of ideas sure to enhance your wardrobe. TO ADD LUSTRE TO YOUR WARDROBE Pearl

PEARL STATION NECKLACE The “Tin Cup” necklace received its nickname from the 90’s classic golf movie where Renee Russo can be seen wearing this beautiful necklace throughout. Characterized by its effortless beauty the “Tin Cup” is just as fashionable with jeans as it is with the little black dress. The versatility makes it the perfect addition to anyone’s collection.

Grace Kelly famously pronounced the pearl “the queen of gems and the gem of queens.” Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis agreed: “Pearls are always appropriate,” she once said. Two of the 20th century’s most celebrated style icons believed wholeheartedly in the power of the pearl, and now this iconic gem is hotter than ever. The popularity of pearls in jewelry and fashion trends also promises to dovetail nicely with a major milestone in 2023: Mikimoto will celebrate 130 years since Japanese entrepreneur Kokichi Mikimoto founded the legendary pearl house that bears his name.

PEARL COCKTAIL RING Statement cocktail rings, traditionally worn on the middle finger, will never go out of style, and lately it’s the oversized pearl that’s enjoying the spotlight in this design. Indeed, rather than opting for a gemstone or crystal, seek out a large-size pearl — in either white or cream, or perhaps a spectacular orange or black hue — as the statement stone in a ring that’s sure to be noticed.

PEARL CHOKER While the traditional pearl necklace is eternally classic, it’s the choker length, most often measuring between 14 and 16 inches, that’s enjoying an uptick in interest among younger consumers. This shorter style definitely seems to resonate with fashion fans who previously may have viewed pearls as something worn by their mother or grandmother but now see a choker- length design as a fun, chic addition to their wardrobe.
