CELEBRATING 45 YEARS THE HEART OF A JEWELER
D oug Toone grew up in Spokane, WA. Raised on a farm, he decided to spread his wings and intern at a local jewelry shop to feed his creative drive. While sweeping floors, he learned everything he could, and practiced his art. During Expo 1974 Doug Toone was asked to have a booth that would showcase his artistic talents in fine jewelry making to the public. With this, his real journey began. Jewelry Design Center opened in 1977 as “Doug Toone Jewelry Manufacturing”, providing wholesale services to other jewelry shops in the area. By 1979, Doug made the decision to take his business in a new direction, cutting out the middle and working with customers one on one. Jewelry Design Center’s reputation would
grow out of that bespoke, highly personalized service. That first little store has since grown into one of the most innovative retail outlets in the nation. Brian joined the JDC team 27 years ago and is currently JDC’s President and CEO. Denver joined the team 16 years ago and is currently the Vice President of JDC. Doug has taken a step back while Brian and Denver continue in this special art of weaving stories and emotions into treasures made of precious metals and gems. The present-day Jewelry Design Center — recognized by a giant rotating diamond sculpture out front — is now located in an almost 17,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. In addition, a location in Kennewick, WA was opened in 2016.
We are still family owned — and the premiere importer of loose diamonds and precious gemstones in the Northwest. From luxury brands that reflect our values and standards, to sketch-to-reality custom designed pieces of art produced 100 percent in-house, we carry on Doug’s legacy, 45 years after our humble beginnings. Brian takes pride in hand-selecting the best and brightest diamonds from sources around the world.
