Renee Berbari GENERAL MANAGER E legance Inside Sheiban Jewelers: The Personalities Shaping
Renee is our dynamic general manager and has been with us since 1998. You might be surprised to learn her journey into the jewelry world was as unexpected as it was transformative. Initially immersed in real estate, Renee stumbled into our business when she brought in family jewelry for cleaning. With no prior experience, she was essentially interviewed and hired on the spot, embarking on a new adventure that turned out to be a great fit. From day one, Renee has enthusiastically embraced her role, learning everything from scratch by shadowing colleagues and absorbing knowledge from Mr. Sheiban himself. As our general manager, Renee keeps everything running smoothly but isn’t afraid to interact with clients — some of whom prefer to work only with her to this day. If you ask Renee to reflect on her most memorable client moments, she won’t hesitate to tell you about the time she helped a husband pull off the perfect surprise for his wife’s 50th birthday. He had secretly ordered the watch she’d been dreaming of, and it arrived just in time for her birthday. Pretending they were on their way to a family dinner, he brought her to the store first. Renee had the watch set up in the private viewing room with champagne and hors d’oeuvres. When she brought out the watch, the look of surprise and joy on the wife’s face was priceless. Outside of work, Renee treasures time with her family, enjoys cooking, and loves a good Hallmark movie.

Known for her welcoming smile to co-workers and clients, she skillfully balances her role between jewelry and watches, ensuring every client leaves with a memorable experience. One standout moment in her career was orchestrating a surprise watch reveal for a client and his wife, creating a special moment that everyone involved still talks about to this day. OUR SHEIBAN TEAM
Anibal Rubio JEWELER
At Sheiban Jewelers, we are fortunate to have Anibal Rubio, a master jeweler whose life journey began in Ecuador. Inspired by watching his cousins craft adornments by hand, Anibal discovered his passion for jewelry at the age of 11. After moving to the U.S., he honed his skills in New York City, a vibrant hub for jewelers. His transition to working with Sheiban Jewelers began a 25-year chapter filled with mastery and camaraderie. Anibal’s bench sits next to Mr. Sheiban’s, symbolizing their decades-long bond and seamless teamwork. Together, they create exquisite and unique pieces, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques.
One of Anibal’s most cherished projects involved crafting a gold police badge pendant to honor a hero, mentor, and grandfather. A client approached us to repurpose a gold chain gifted by his grandfather, a longtime Cleveland Police member, over 30 years ago. Anibal melted down the chain, now too thin for daily wear, and recast it into a pendant shaped like his grandfather’s original police badge. Using the actual badge as inspiration, Anibal meticulously crafted a replica with matching design, badge number, and inscription, creating a meaningful tribute to honor and preserve the memory of a beloved grandfather.
Beyond his meticulous work, Anibal’s cheerful demeanor lights up the store, making him a beloved figure among colleagues and clients. Away from his jewelry bench, Anibal finds joy in family time, often playing basketball with his sons and grandsons or enjoying outings to local parks and lakes.
Brandan Cloos WATCHMAKER
Brandan’s career with Sheiban began early in 2023, but his journey into the world of horology began at 14 when he stumbled upon a box of old watches at a local auction house. This discovery sparked a passion that led him to The Lititz Watch Technicum, where he honed his skills and became SAWTA certified in 2020. Brandan’s expertise is instrumental as he leads our expanding watch service department. His love for vintage watches, especially those with unique in-house movements, drives his dedication to his craft. He finds joy in exploring the creativity of past watchmakers and the intricate designs that tell stories of innovation and the rich heritage of horology. His favorite watch, a classic 36 mm Rolex Datejust on a jubilee bracelet, symbolizes both elegance and sentimentality, as many intend to pass these heirlooms to future generations. Outside of watchmaking, Brandan enjoys visiting flea markets and antique shops with his wife, always searching for unique treasures to add to their home. He also has a passion for bodybuilding and spends time training in his home gym.

High-Flying GMT AND WORLD TIME WATCHES
F requent travelers or those who have friends and family in far- flung places would benefit greatly from wearing GMT and world time watches. Not only do these handy timepieces have the ability to display multiple time zones but they’re superbly stylish too. GMT watches can be set to show both home time and local time simultaneously, making it ultra-practical for those who regularly land at different airports across the world. GMT watches are generally characterized by a fourth hand on the dial that points to a 24-hour scale — typically placed on the bezel but sometimes also on the dial — to indicate a second time zone. GMT is short for Greenwich Mean Time, which was the international standard of civil time at one point before Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) took over. While GMT watches were initially developed for airline pilots, today they can be enjoyed by a wide variety of people.
Montblanc Star Legacy Orbis Terrarum Around the World in 80 Days Reference MB131627 Inspired by Jules Verne’s novel, Phileas Fogg’s journey is mapped out with 80 gold dashes on a multi- layer dial, framed by the 24-time zone disk and housed inside a 43 mm steel case.

Two main types of GMT watches include a “caller GMT” with an independently adjustable 24-hour GMT hand and a “flyer GMT” with an independently adjustable 12-hour hand. The former is particularly practical for folks in constant communication with contacts in faraway lands while the latter is perfect for always-on-the- go jetsetters. On the other hand, as their name suggests, world time watches allow the wearer to see the time across 24 zones, all at once. While there are plenty of different world time watch styles, ranging from simplified to mind-bendingly complex, these timepieces predominately use city names to represent the time zones. Among all the watch complications available, word time watches have long been a favorite among globetrotters.

The same could be said for men’s watch style, since roughly the late 1990s. In or around that time, popular culture declared that a “proper” dive watch would sit between 40 mm and 45 mm. However if we look back pre- 1990, a man’s watch size would vary based on the setting. The largest luxury brands created men’s watches as small as 32 mm, and no one batted an eye. So why the sudden change? There were a variety of factors at play, but interestingly, in recent years buyers have made it clear that demand for smaller watches exists. dialed down THE RISE OF COMPACT WATCHES SO MANY, IT IS MUCH MORE.
I f a trend sticks around long enough, it’s easy to believe that’s the way it’s always been. Whether it’s the cut of a suit or a popular color of denim, we tend to create rules or expectations about their “correct” look, feel, and design.

The Premier B09 Chronograph 40 offers all of the elements featured in their larger Premier models, but in a more approachable size. In the case of the Superocean Heritage ’57, you’re getting the charming elements of a vintage Breitling design, but with modern dive watch functionality and comfort.

Tudor Black Bay 58 One needs to look no further than the explosive success of the Tudor Black Bay 58, with its 39 mm case, to see the shift in market demand. When it was introduced in 2018, the Black Bay 58 took the watch industry by storm, quickly becoming one of the most in-demand watches in the “under $5,000” category. That success continued when Tudor introduced a blue version in 2020. In addition, the Black Bay 54, introduced in 2023 with its 37 mm case, has likewise been a tremendous success for the brand.

Omega Speedmaster 38 Another notable example in the luxury space is Omega, with their Speedmaster 38. This watch takes the tried and true iconic design of the Speedmaster and democratizes it into a 38 mm case. At its most basic form, a watch is a tool. But for so many, it is much more; it’s an extension of their personal sense of style. A great watch is a powerful way to mark big milestones in life and celebrate important achievements. So why constrain the design of such a personal item to an arbitrary strict set of stats and measurements? Similar to clothing or any other article of expression, watch size should fit the taste of the wearer, and that’s why we couldn’t be more excited about the increasingly
diverse size offerings we’re seeing and will, hopefully, continue to see in the future. >

P urosangue CAVALLINO RAMPANTE
Cavallino Rampante is the prancing horse. The symbol was adopted by Enzo Ferrari for his racing team after being encouraged to do so by the mother of Count Francesco Baracca, Italy’s top fighter ace in WWI. The coat of arms of the Baracca family included a black prancing stallion, which Francesco wore as an emblem on the two sides of his aircraft.

W hen Porsche debuted the Cayenne in 2002, naysayers cried it would be the death of the historic sportscar brand. However, the Cayenne—along with the Boxster—saved Porsche from failure. A similar hue and cry arose when Ferrari unveiled the FF—for four-wheel drive and four seats. A Ferrari with space for a child seat and a hatchback? How un-Italian. Those pessimists are singing a new aria with the rollout of Ferrari’s first SUV, the Purosangue. However, Ferrari prefers the term FUV for Ferrari Utility Vehicle. The name derives from the Italian word for thoroughbred, linked with the Ferrari Prancing Horse emblem.
THE PUROSANGUE MAY BE THE HOLY GRAIL,
A DAILY DRIVER FERRARI FIT FOR A FAMILY.
This prancing horse features four doors and four seats, with rear doors that open forward. Under the hood lies a naturally aspirated 6.5 L V12 that outputs 715 hp. Ferrari claims this grocery-getter takes only 3.3 seconds to blast 0 to 62 mph and has a top speed of 193 mph. The 8-speed rear-mounted transaxle is part of the complex all-wheel drive system. A second gearbox is mounted at the front with two gears that are engaged in slippery road conditions.

PUROSANGUE
The Purosangue is more correctly called a crossover as it is based on the Roma coupe chassis. A rear door accesses the surprisingly roomy rear storage area, and the rear seats fold for even more space. Slip behind the wheel, and you forget you’re in a family hauler rather than a Ferrari coupe.
The engine soundtrack is available with the blip of your right foot, with loads of power available at low revs. Independent four- wheel steering, along with the new Ferrari active suspension system, dampens body roll while cornering softens bumps in the road to maintain a smooth and comfortable ride.
The low-slung yet commanding driving position is similar to other Ferraris, so the driver connects with the car’s dynamic capabilities. Entry and exit is accessible from the rear seats thanks to the rear-hinged back doors (welcome doors in Ferrari-speak).

HAVE YOU EVER PUT ON A PIECE OF JEWELRY AND NOTICED THAT SOMETHING ABOUT IT JUST DIDN’T SIT RIGHT? IT’S POSSIBLE THAT THE COLOR OF THE JEWELRY WASN’T RIGHT FOR YOUR SKIN’S UNDERTONE.
WANNA LOOK ABSOLUTELY
? glowing JEWELRY FOR YOUR UNDERTONE
W We each have subtle undertones to the hue of our skin. Cool undertones naturally lend themselves to certain color palettes, while warm undertones play well with others. Some skin tones are even considered somewhat neutral, which often means more options on the spectrum of color that “feels right,” fashionwise.

Cool Undertones Jewelry lovers with cool undertones look best in colors that share that coolness. Think of gems with crisp, refreshing hues and bright white metals like silver, platinum, and white gold. With a cool undertone, you’ll look incredible wearing diamonds in a white metal. Consider investing in some dramatic dangling diamond earrings or a glamorous glittering diamond necklace for formal events. These styles will frame your face in sparkle and make you look your best by flattering your natural tone. Lush blue sapphires, verdant emeralds, and regal purple amethysts are some of the very best colored gemstones to accentuate a cooler-tone skin. They look spectacular in any form. Consider a chunky gemstone cocktail ring to add some pizzazz to your fingers or look for a necklace and earring set with cool-colored gems in bright white metals to light up your face. Make no mistake — cool doesn’t mean unappealing. Cool skin tone projects a clean, elegant beauty. For cool undertone inspiration, look to celebrities Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington, and Lupita Nyong’o.

Choosing jewelry that flatters your undertone is a fantastic way to make your jewels pop and your skin glow. Don’t forget to consider the color of the metal as well as the gemstones. Both factors can determine how well a particular style works for you. If you don’t know your undertone, one trick is to look at the veins in your wrist. Blue or purple veins typically mean you have a cool undertone, while greenish veins mean you lean toward the warmer side of the scale. A mix of colors, or veins that seem to blend into your skin usually means you have a rare neutral undertone.

RED CARPET GLAM
Warm Undertones Jewelry lovers with warm undertones should embrace metals like yellow and rose gold, copper, and brass, as well as bright gemstones that call to mind the sun, fire, and the warmth of glowing embers. Yellow gold becomes simply luminous against skin with a warm undertone, with or without the addition of accent diamonds. Looking to invest in a versatile forever treasure that you’ll still love in 30 years? You can’t go wrong with a jewel in a buttery yellow gold setting with plenty of negative space to let the beauty of your warm skin shine through.

IF YOU’RE CHOOSING GEMS FOR A WARM UNDERTONE, LOOK FOR
STONES LIKE SUNNY CITRINE, FIERY RUBY, AND WINE-RED GARNET.
Yes, they’re bold hues, but don’t feel shy about embracing the colors that will help you look your best! A jewelry lover with a warm skin tone will look so right in powerful reds and yellows that such statement stones work perfectly even for everyday wear. Need examples of celebrities who know how to flatter their warm skin undertone? Look to Claire Danes, Cynthia Erivo, Jessica Alba, Lucy Liu, and Beyoncé.

Neutral Undertones So, you have a neutral skin undertone? You lucky duck! Yours is a rare treat. Most of us lean either cool or warm, but neutral skin undertones do exist, and they look great in pretty much everything. You can wear any gemstone or metal that you like, and it won’t wash you out. There really aren’t any colors you need to avoid. A jewelry lover with neutral undertones can rock rubies in yellow gold as easily as they can flaunt aquamarines in platinum. Nothing is off
limits: try iridescent mother-of-pearl, vibrant purple amethyst, lush emeralds, or diamonds in any metal you desire! You can even go for mixed- metal jewelry designs without worrying which color will be next to your skin, because everything looks good on you. Need some neutral undertone inspiration? A re you ready to embark on a delightful adventure through the tantalizing world of sushi? This iconic Japanese cuisine has captured the hearts and taste buds of food enthusiasts worldwide. With its unique blend of flavors, textures, and artistry, sushi has become more than just a meal — it’s a sensorial experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Our journey begins centuries ago in the coastal regions of Japan. Sushi’s roots can be traced back to a simple method of preserving fish by packing it in rice, allowing fermentation to take place. Over time, this preservation technique evolved and the fermented rice was discarded, leading to the birth of the modern sushi we know and love today.
One of the aspects that makes sushi a versatile culinary delight is the choice between raw and cooked options. If you’re unsure about raw fish, don’t worry, there are plenty of cooked alternatives that offer equally gratifying taste experiences. But if you’re feeling adventurous, give raw fish a chance! Behind every incredible sushi dish is a master sushi chef, or itamae, who has devoted years to honing their craft. An itamae takes great care in selecting the freshest fish to ensure it’s safe and delicious to eat. Start with milder options like salmon or tuna and you might discover a whole new world of flavors!

Nigiri, Maki, and Beyond: Unraveling the Sushi Varieties Sushi comes in a delightful array of forms, each offering a distinct experience. Nigiri sushi, the most classic variety, consists of a small ball of vinegared rice topped with a slice of fish or other delectable ingredients. Maki rolls, on the other hand, are rice and fillings wrapped in seaweed and cut into bite-sized pieces — a playful way to enjoy sushi with endless creative combinations. For the purists seeking unadulterated seafood pleasure, sashimi is the way to go. No rice, just pristine slices of raw fish, allowing the natural flavors to shine. Remember, sashimi is best enjoyed when dipped lightly into soy sauce with a touch of wasabi, allowing the natural flavors to take center stage. Beyond Tradition: Fusion Sushi and Unique Creations Innovative chefs around the world have embraced sushi as a canvas for culinary experimentation. The rise of fusion sushi has brought exciting blends of flavors and cultural influences to the table. Imagine a spicy tuna roll with a hint of Mexican flair, or a decadent dessert sushi, featuring sweet fillings and drizzled with chocolate. These daring creations challenge tradition while celebrating the essence of sushi — a delightful celebration of taste and imagination. Sake Symbiosis: The Perfect Sushi Pairing No sushi feast is complete without a perfect beverage companion. Enter sake, Japan’s iconic rice wine. With its smooth and subtle flavors, sake complements the delicate nuances of sushi like no other. From dry and crisp options to aromatic and fruity varieties, sake adds an extra layer of joy to your culinary journey. So, don’t forget to raise your glass and say “Kanpai!” (cheers) before diving into your sushi indulgence. Sushi Sensations Go Vegan For our plant-based foodies, worry not — sushi has embraced the vegan movement too! Vegan sushi options are flourishing, with creative fillings like avocado, cucumber, mango, and tempura sweet potato. These colorful and flavorful rolls are a testament to the ever- evolving nature of sushi, embracing inclusivity and appealing to a diverse audience. Sushi isn’t just a meal; it’s an orchestra of flavors and textures, a celebration of tradition and innovation, and a journey into the heart of Japan’s rich culinary heritage. So whether you’re a seasoned sushi connoisseur or a first-time adventurer, the sushi sensations await! Kanpai to sushi adventures!
SUSHI ETIQUETTE: UNWRITTEN RULES OF THE SUSHI BAR Before you embark on your sushi adventure, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with some unwritten rules of sushi etiquette. For instance, did you know that it’s customary to eat nigiri with your fingers instead of chopsticks? Or that dunking your sushi rice-side down into soy sauce is considered a faux pas? By respecting these customs, you not only show appreciation for the artistry but also enhance your overall dining experience.

W hile most top-tier watches are designed to be enduring classics so that they can be enjoyed every day for a lifetime, there are always a few key timepiece trends that emerge each year. For 2024, we’ve spotted three major trends across the women’s watch landscape worth paying attention to.

Petite Proportions First, after a few years of oversized watches, petite proportions are back — the tinier the better. From lavish gold and gem-set models to subtler steel editions, watch brands are offering up a range of mini watches, making it easier to find options to wear day or night, casually or formally. Light and easy to wear, ultra-small watches can be paired with a stack of bracelets for a strong style statement or worn solo for a minimalist approach. Whether sports watches, graceful gold timepieces, or petite proportions, 2024 is proving to be an exciting year for women’s watches.

Graceful Gold Another women’s watch trend currently all the rage is gold watches, including both yellow gold and rose gold. Akin to the hard-working Little Black Dress that’s always appropriate, graceful gold watches elevate any outfit. If full gold pieces are too much, there are plenty of options that mix gold with other materials too, because sometimes all you need is a touch of the golden hue for added glam.
The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra is a superb tribute to their rich ocean heritage and combines classic design with contemporary inspiration.
It is set on a matching stainless steel and 18K Moonshine™ Gold
bracelet and powered by Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 8800, certified at the industry’s highest standard by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
Tudor Black Bay 31 Steel & Gold : The Black Bay 31, 36, 39 and 41 models bring a unique aesthetic to the Black Bay line. Their curved cases offer a language that
slightly departs from the brand’s iconic tool watch spirit to embrace a sophisticated, versatile, unisex chic.
Breitling Navitimer 32 Pops of pastel, mother of pearl, and traceable precious materials combine with subtle refinements to give the timepieces a jewelry-like appeal — adding a versatile elegance to the legendary navigational watch that’s ready for wherever the journey takes you.

Sports Watches Finally, we come to women’s sports watches, which can include anything from diving watches, chronograph watches, GMT watches, and multi-functional watches. While they’re available in a wide assortment of styles, sizes, and colors, what ties these women’s sports watches together is their durability, robustness, and the fact that they’re designed to offer additional features beyond telling time.
Breitling Endurance Pro 38 mm : Functionality and style come together on this lightweight and colorful chronograph, complete with a compass and pulsometer scale.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Decked out with a VS diamond-set bezel and dial, this TAG Heuer Aquaracer combines absolute elegance with extreme robustness. With a 30 mm steel case and reliable quartz movement, this versatile tool watch is the perfect everyday companion.
Omega Speedmaster 38 mm : A lavish take on the sporty chronograph, the dash of diamonds on the bezel and subdials dresses up the otherwise utilitarian mechanical stopwatch.

Long-time clients of Sheiban Jewelers know they are in good hands and that any redesign of their precious jewels will reflect their own personal sense of taste and style. An engagement ring upgrade can mean anything from swapping out a center stone to enhancing the original setting with a halo of diamonds or a detailed prong and
gallery setting. Many couples add diamond anniversary bands or wraps that can also have the power to alter the look and elevate the impact of a diamond in an existing ring. For some couples, the best option is to upgrade to a new diamond ring due to a change in style preference or damage to the original ring. Consider enhancing the design
with layers of meaning by adding children’s birthstones, specialized filigree metalwork, inscriptions to the band or three-stone “past, present, and future” symbolism. Remounting to create a necklace or new piece of jewelry is also a beautiful way to pass your original diamond on to your next generation.
