J ennifer Lopez knows a thing or two about engagement rings — she’s received exactly six diamond stunners over the course of her romantic life (Elizabeth Taylor, by comparison, accepted 10, with eight marriages), and almost every time, the current Mrs. Affleck has caused a frenzy in diamond trends with the stunner adorning her third finger, left hand. Consider that when Lopez and Ben Affleck experienced their first engagement in 2002, the Oscar-winning producer, director and star of Argo and The Town presented his fiancée with a Harry Winston ring highlighting a 6.1-carat fancy intense pink diamond, which instantly caused an uptick in interest for that rare, beautiful stone. Fast-forward 20 years, and the second time indeed was the charm, with Affleck presenting a different ring to Lopez in April 2022, nine months after they renewed their relationship, with their surprise wedding in Las Vegas following in July 2022. Unsurprisingly, the second ring drew even more high-wattage attention than the first, due to the social-media omnipresence now part of our everyday lives. Indeed, Lopez’s July 17 Instagram post showing off her wedding band thus far has drawn almost 2.5 million likes, a clear example of the undeniable influence and power of celebrity style. The high-wattage gymnast and seven-time Olympic medalist became engaged to the Houston Texan defensive back on Valentine’s Day 2022, with Owens presenting his newly minted fiancée with the shape that’s trending higher that all others at the moment: an oval-cut diamond, in this case totaling roughly 3 carats, surrounded with a halo accent of diamonds and set on a micropavé-diamond band. It’s no surprise that oval diamonds are trending, as they feel fresher and younger than classic round or emerald cuts, but Biles’s ring has added exponential interest to this stone (for context, her engagement post drew 3.14 million Instagram likes).
