EMERY BALTHROP GET TO KNOW THE FINK’S JEWELERS FAMILY

E mery Balthrop stayed on with Fink’s Jewelers after we acquired Rone Regency in Chattanooga, TN, in 2020. With more than 45 years of experience, Emery’s expertise and relationships with clients in the area are unparalleled, and we’re ecstatic he chose to join the Fink’s family! “When I first came in contact with Fink’s, everybody talked about the family,” Emery explains. “I realized that there was actually a family that was running the company and bore its name. But also, it was the idea of family that kind of attracted me. You’re not part of a big chain or conglomerate; you’re actually part of a family, and I think that’s special.”

Emery Balthrop , Sales Professional Fink’s Jewelers Chattanooga, TN (423) 894-1188 • Emery.Balthrop@finks.com

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN I’m originally from Dyersburg, TN, but my wife and I moved to Chattanooga in 1973. Before that, we were living in Minnesota, where I was finishing school. After I finished, we came back to be closer to home. I worked in ministry at the time, and we were helping out with a youth group at a small local church. FROM MINISTRY TO JEWELRY As my wife and I began to have children, I quickly learned that I needed to find another way to serve and make a living. But, my retail experience prior to jewelry was in selling shoes.

In fact, my first job at 16 was with Butler Shoe Company. But jewelry was a whole new area of retail for me. There’s a large amount of knowledge that you have to acquire in selling jewelry. You’re not just concentrating on one thing, but many things, whether it’s talking about diamonds and pearls or colored stones and watches. So in order to be proficient, you have to know about all these different things. WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME I’ve been collecting toy soldiers since 1976. I had them growing up, but over the years, I kind of missed that. So I gradually began collecting and then to paint some of them. I have several hundred of them, at least (don’t tell my wife).

OF SERVICE 20 YEARS

CELEBRATING

ROB MATTHEWS

Rob Matthews , Store Manager Fink’s Jewelers Barracks Road Shopping Center Charlottesville, VA (434) 284-4060 • Rob.Matthews@finks.com

R ob Matthews is celebrating 20 years with Fink’s Jewelers. Throughout that time, Rob has been an integral part of Fink’s, and since 2007, he’s been running our Charlottesville, VA, store with integrity and dedication. We thank Rob for his many years of service and look forward to many more! “I’ve been in the business for 35 years and have worked for many jewelry stores,” says Rob. “Fink’s Jewelers stands out from all the rest with their immense integrity and commitment to being customer- and employee-focused. They just care about their people and clients, and they offer great quality merchandise at a great value. You just can’t go wrong.”

A CULTURE UNLIKE ANY OTHER The Fink’s are caring people. And as a family-owned business, their name’s on the door, their name’s on everything that they offer, and it’s a reflection of them. So they want to hire good people to work with them, represent them, and help them take care of their clients. I’ve grown with them over the past 20 years, and I feel privileged to be a part of such an amazing organization! LENDING A HELPING HAND I was hired as an assistant manager at our Regency Square location back in 2002. Then we moved that location to our Short Pump store, and I was the assistant manager there for a few years. Then, Fink’s said they were opening up a store here in Charlottesville and offered me the management position. But in between, I had helped out with a couple of other locations, managing, hiring, and training. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

I just want to emphasize how appreciative I am to be a part of a family-owned business like Fink’s and how I’ve enjoyed being a part of the team for the past 20 years.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT

BY JILL NEWMAN

DAVID YURMAN AMERICA’S FIRST FAMILY OF JEWELRY

W hen David Yurman sculpted his first Cable bracelet with gold wire 40 years ago, he envisioned the twisted metal ropes that architect John Augustus Roebling used to suspend the Brooklyn Bridge. “That strength and simplicity grabbed me,” he once said. It’s a style Yurman also recognized in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s ancient gold torque necklaces and in DNA’s twisted structure, and even in nature’s hanging vines. Today the universal design is instantly recognizable as David Yurman’s signature. Over the past four decades, David and Sybil Yurman, the husband-and-wife team who established the brand in 1980, have leaned into the Cable motif and made it an iconic American design. It’s been reimagined in countless styles, from colorful, bold aluminum cuffs to elegant diamond engagement rings and luxurious diamond chain link necklaces. It’s the thread that defines and connects Yurman’s stylish, contemporary and classical ethos. “The Cable form is at the heart of everything we do — changing, adapting, and evolving, but always a constant,” says Evan Yurman, the founder’s 40-year-old son who was named president last year.

“THE CABLE FORM IS AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING WE DO — CHANGING, ADAPTING, AND EVOLVING, BUT ALWAYS A CONSTANT.” — Evan Yurman, President, David Yurman

DAVID YURMAN’S NEXT GENERATION CABLE The newest evolution is Cable Edge, a wave-like pattern made in recycled silver and gold with conflict-free diamonds. The motif is based on a twisted rectangular form that echoes the undulating shapes found in modern architecture. “It’s clean, contemporary look and feel will appeal especially to people with an appreciation for art and sculpture,” says Evan. “It plays with light and angles to create an almost velvety sensation. It’s truly one of my favorite collections we have done.” Cable Edge is the company’s jewelry collection made exclusively with recycled metals and traceable diamonds, and more are in the works. By using metals that have previously been refined, the brand is reducing the demand for newly mined materials and the energy needed to process it. Cable Edge is an example of Evan’s influence on the business. Sustainability is a priority. He is also continuing his parents’ focus on infusing jewelry with a sense of timeless modernity and shares their love of architecture, art, and design. But don’t expect to see David and Sybil retire anytime soon. They still love coming into the office, designing and experimenting with new ideas, and

they remain committed to the brand they started when they were struggling artists. Growing up with a mother who paints and a father who sculpts, it’s no surprise that Evan showed an early interest in art and design. Over his two decades working in the family business, he launched men’s jewelry and bridal, high jewelry and most recently served as chief creative officer. “Having been around the business from an early age, I have great pride for our classic style and founding identity, and throughout my time working for the company, I have sought to honor those traditions of craft, product, and innovation, all the while embracing the natural evolution of David Yurman.” The close knit Yurman family all live near the company’s Tribeca headquarters, which makes it easy for Evan Yurman’s three daughters to visit. His eldest daughter Cody has already begun to tinker with jewelry. “She has her own bench in our design shop, where she has been experimenting with creating pieces,” he says. It looks like the third Yurman generation is already preparing to join the family business.

Japanese architect Kengo Kuma designed Rolex’s new building in Dallas, Texas.

Two of Rolex’s most recent projects, one in Dallas and the other in Milan, showcase the key values underpinning the design and construction of all Rolex buildings, including a sustainable, environmentally sound approach. The seven- story Rolex building in Dallas, Texas, was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to include a series of planted terraces on every floor. The adventurous and environmentally sophisticated design, typical of Kuma’s work, uses natural light, space, and subtly modulated surfaces. The form and environmental qualities of the tower have set new benchmarks for architecture in the city. In New York City, Sir David Chipperfield is currently redesigning the Rolex North American headquarters, where he says he is “creating an exemplary building befitting the heritage and culture of the Rolex brand.” The stacked, jagged, 25-story tower was designed to qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification, representing the highest level of sustainability and leadership. The 165,000-square-foot building will demonstrate the quality, precision, and excellence that are the hallmarks of the Rolex brand.

THE WATCHMAKER WITH A COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE AND SUSTAINABILITY

R olex does more than make great watches. Over the decades it has made lasting contributions across the arts and culture, and architecture has been a large part of that endeavor. Rolex’s commitment has been demonstrated by not only supporting the architectural community at large but also in the construction of its own buildings. For more than 60 years, Rolex has commissioned buildings for its worldwide operations, designed according to sustainable principles by renowned architects who have made their marks on history.

The new Rolex Pavilion for the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.

Rolex also works to promote excellence and sustainable practices in the global field of architecture. Since 2014, the company has served as exclusive Partner and Official Timepiece of the International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia. The biennial gathering is the world’s premier forum for architectural ideas and debate. The Rolex Pavilion is set in the Giardini, the picturesque park on the eastern edge of Venice that has been the site of the Biennale since it started in 1895. Over the years, the Rolex Pavilion, with its facade shaped like the brand’s iconic fluted bezel, has been a major attraction of the exhibition and a space to showcase Rolex’s architectural works. The pavilion has featured work by participants in the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, including works by Sir David Chipperfield and his protégé Simon Kretz, and Sir David Adjaye and his protégé Mariam Kamara. The program seeks out gifted young artists from all over the world and brings them together with artistic masters for a period of creative collaboration in a one-to-one mentoring relationship. Since 2002, the mentor and protégé pairs in architecture have exemplified Rolex’s mission to contribute to global culture and ensure the world’s artistic heritage is passed on to the next generation. The work of the two most recent pairings includes:

Sir David Chipperfield, Rolex Mentor in Architecture, with his Swiss protégé Simon Kretz.

In 2016-2017, British architect Sir David Chipperfield and his protégé young Swiss architect and urbanist Simon Kretz used an East London site as an example of how to help create cities that promote well-being through greater inclusiveness and innovative thinking. Their successful partnership resulted in a book: On Planning — A Thought Experiment . In 2018-2019, Sir David Adjaye and Mariam Kamara developed plans for a cultural center in Niamey, Niger. The goal is for the center to meet local needs and to both serve and dignify the communities, while using simple, affordable, local materials that are ecologically, climatically, and culturally appropriate. It will feature sustainable and traditional methods of building to forge a new kind of architecture that, at the same time, reflects an African identity. With these and other programs, Rolex has proudly made a lasting contribution to the arts, culture, architecture, and sustainability — a commitment that is parallel to, yet amounts to much more than, making great watches.

CURATED CLASSICS

YOUR JEWELRY WARDROBE ISN’T COMPLETE UNTIL YOU TAKE CARE OF THE BASICS

T he showcases of any great jewelry boutique are bursting with sparkling statement pieces that tantalize us with their beauty and drama. Your jewelry collection isn’t complete, however, until you stock up on the basics, the pieces that carry us gently through our everyday lives with grace and elegance and remind us of the importance of classic design. Since there are thousands of pieces to choose from at that level — and only so much showcase space — it’s important to rely on a jeweler who has an eye for choosing the best all-around basics of the moment, the classics-with-a-twist that will carry you safely through any fashion trend. These interpretations of the foundational pieces of any jewelry wardrobe are the season’s must- haves. DIAMOND NECKLACES There are few things more classic than a diamond solitaire necklace, perfect in its simplicity. This year, add a modern twist by making the diamond pear-shaped or trilliant-shaped, rather than a classic round brilliant. Or use more than one, for a diamonds-by-the-yard look. Either will work on their own or blend well with your favorite layered look — because diamonds match virtually everything.

Sabel Collection 14K yellow gold diamond solitaire pendant, $3,450.

Sabel Collection 14K white gold diamond circle pendant, $895.

DIAMOND STUD EARRINGS Wear them to the gym, the office or to dinner — diamond stud earrings always look like they belong. They are not only a reliable classic, they are versatile: dress them up by using sapphire or pearls instead of diamonds, or replace the classic round brilliant diamond with a pear or square cut. For even more sparkle, surround each center stone with a halo.

PEARLS The shift toward androgyny

in fashion has now permeated the jewelry world, and nowhere is the trend more evident than in pearl jewelry. With Harry Styles and other celebrity men jumping on board, the power of a simple strand of pearls has become even more universal.

Sabel Collection 14K white gold 19.49cttw diamond tennis necklace, 17”, $48,150.

Mikimoto 18k white gold 7.5x7mm A+ Akoya strand necklace with diamond roundel stations, $7,280.

Sabel Collection 18K white gold baguette and round shape diamond, $13,175.

ANNIVERSARY BANDS The anniversary band is a token of your ongoing commitment to your life partner, but it’s more than that: it’s a classic, everyday jewelry staple that expresses your style as much as your love. Mix it up with colored gemstones or a combination of diamonds and colored stones. Add it to your stack for extra drama.

GREEN WITH ENVY I n past eras the gem was believed to strengthen memory and sharpen wit. Cleopatra is credited for the popularity of Emeralds in ancient times. She adorned herself and her palace with emeralds and gave them as gifts to foreign dignitaries, as a display of her wealth and power. Today, emeralds are enjoyed for their precious rarity and varying features per cut gemstone. The green hue of an emerald is striking and unmistakable, often like those who wear them. Often cut in fancy shapes and mixed with white diamonds; line bracelets and necklaces are also popular choices. Other iconic designs include bold emerald rings and three-stone styles, as well as different earring treatments. ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL AND ELUSIVE GEMSTONES.

THE LOW-COUNTRY LIFESTYLE OF SAVANNAH

Wormsloe Plantation Gate

W hen you think of the South, perhaps you picture Southern charm and Southern hospitality. But the Old South has changed dramatically over the years and become more homogenized with the rest of the country. Atlanta is now a bustling metropolis, much like many East Coast cities. The same can be said for Nashville, Tennessee: Raleigh, North Carolina: and Columbia, South Carolina. However, there are pockets where time seems to have stood still — where a glass

of sweet tea served with a warm smile under massive Spanish moss-covered oak trees is still a common sight rather than the exception. When I first traveled to Ireland, I marveled at how the people, language, and culture mirrored the caricatures created by the TV shows and cartoons I had watched as a kid. Indeed, it is true that they sing and invite you into their pubs for a raucous good time, often inviting you to pull up a chair at their table. The Irish love Americans, and they

love to celebrate life on a daily basis. It is a magical place. I feel the same about historic Savannah, Georgia. The beauty of this small city will seduce you with its colonial-style architecture and rich history. It’s a place where you are made to feel at home and at peace. It’s a relaxed culture that has embraced its past and preserved what is comforting about the old South. The pace is slow. The people are welcoming and considerate of others. They love life in Savannah!

Historical River Street

THE DARK SIDE Savannah also has an edge. It is considered one of the most haunted cities in America. There are several ghost tours available that will confirm the dark side of this very pic- turesque city. Whether during the day, or a more appropriate nighttime walking tour, some must-see stops include the Sorrel Weed House, the old Savannah Theater, and Chip- pewa Square, where the famous bench scene from Forrest Gump was filmed. A short tour through the beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery, which was depicted in John Berendt’s Mid- night in the Garden of Good and Evil , certainly conveys the ancient years of decay and sad- ness of this place. MUST-SEE The quintessential Savannah moment can be found at the Wormsloe Historic Site, a for- mer plantation (Georgia’s oldest) established in the 1730s by Noble Jones, one of the first settlers to arrive from England. After driving through the huge gated entrance, the breath- taking enchantment of an avenue lined on ei- ther side by hundreds of trees — stately oaks covered in Spanish moss, creating a canopied

thoroughfare over a mile long — is a sight you will not soon forget. At the end of the avenue (which you can walk or drive) is a small mu- seum and visitors center that tells its history. CULINARY DELIGHTS People come from all around the country to experience the history of such a beautiful place. In so doing, they also discover the fa- mous Southern hospitality of the city’s fin- est dining establishments. Savannah cuisine and spirits are world-famous and extremely diverse. Sink your teeth into extra-crispy fried chicken, authentic shrimp and grits, finger-licking-good barbecue, and so much more. Stand-out eateries include The Grey, a restaurant housed in building that served as a Greyhound bus station from 1938 to 1964; The Atlantic, a repurposed space located in an old gas station; and Cotton & Rye located in a former bank, featuring a modern take on Southern cuisine. You may also dine in style in a beautifully restored 19th-century mansion at La Scala Ristorante, where the authentic Italian cuisine and impeccable wine selections are sure to satisfy any palate, or at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, established in 1943, a charming

stop where comfort food, never disappoints. Other top spots are Chart House Restaurant, Moss+Oak Savannah Eatery, Water Witch Tiki, Belford’s Savannah Seafood & Steaks, Flying Fish Bar & Grill, Pie Society, Sting Ray’s Seafood, Circa 1875, Driftaway Cafe, Husk Sa- vannah, St. Neo’s Brasserie, Bocci’s Italian Bistro, and Tubby’s Seafood River Street, and Shabazz Seafood Restaurant. Rooftop bars and restaurants are some of the best in the Low Country, as well as base- ment bars, distilleries, and European-inspired pubs. Savannah boasts some of the finest craft spirits (and not just the spooky ones). Visit Ghost Coast Distillery, where visitors can par- take in guided tours and tasty samples in their cocktail room.

The before, during, and after cocktail is an unwritten rule in Savannah. You can sip on the go in the Historic District (between River Street and Jones Street), thanks to Savannah’s open container law. If your beverage of choice is in an open, plastic to-go cup, containing no more than 16 ounces, you can be on your way to your next adventure. We’ll cheers to that!

MASCULINE STYLE

BY JILL NEWMAN

G rowing up with a mother who paints and a father who sculpts, it’s no surprise that Evan Yurman, son of David Yurman and newly appointed president of the family’s world-renowned jewelry house, showed an early interest in art and design. Over his two decades working in the family business, he launched men’s jewelry and bridal, high jewelry and most recently served as chief creative officer. “Having been around the business from an early age, I have great pride for our classic style and founding identity, and throughout my time working for the company, I have sought to honor those traditions of craft, product, and innovation, all the while embracing the natural evolution of David Yurman.” DAVID YURMAN FOR MEN

52 FINK’S JEWELERS

Evan Yurman designs the kind of jewelry that he wants to wear himself: It’s masculine, yet refined and cool. New designs are strong, everyday pieces that men can wear from the office to the gym and basically live in. “We have incredible handcrafted chains launching for fall in silver, gold, and black titanium, some are inlaid with forged carbon or adorned with dramatic precious stones and diamond pavé surfaces,” he says. From classic gold patinaed box chain bracelets to edgy meteorite pendants on burnished silver necklaces, there is something for every man’s style.

WATCHES SPORTY LOOKS, ULTRA-SLIM STYLES, AND LOTS OF COLOR WHAT ’ S NEW IN

— COLOR — THE HOTTEST TREND IN WATCHES THIS YEAR IS THE JOYOUS PRESENCE OF COLOR. ONCE THE PURVIEW OF 1990’s FASHION WATCHES, COLOR HAS INFILTRATED THE PREVIOUSLY STAID, CONSERVATIVE LUXURY WATCH INDUSTRY! FROM NEON BLUES TO BRIGHT REDS AND VIBRANT GREENS, ON BOTH DIALS AND STRAPS, COLOR IS PUTTING THE STYLE BACK IN WRISTWEAR. WEAR IT ANYWHERE, FROM THE GYM TO THE BOARDROOM — MATCH YOUR WATCH TO YOUR FAVORITE TIE OR SHOES. ANYTHING GOES.

FOR MEN The Omega Speedmaster ’57 contains one of the smallest chronograph movements on the market, which keeps this watch slim and comfortable to wear. Bright new dial options include blue, green, burgundy or black, with matching straps.

FOR LADIES The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 is a dive watch built for adventure, with 300-meter water resistance, brightly illuminated hands and markers and a rubber strap. The elegant diamond markers make it equally suited for adventures on land.

54 FINK’S JEWELERS

FOR MEN The Pelagos is Tudor’s signature professional dive watch, with 500-meter water resistance, helium escape valve for deep dives and large, illuminated hands and markers that can be easily seen underwater. The robust 42mm case is steel and titanium.

FOR LADIES There’s something for everyone in Breitling’s new

Superocean. Collectors will recognize the strong influence of the Slow Motion, water sports enthusiasts will appreciate its technical features, and the style conscious will gravitate towards its day-to-night, beach-to-boardroom versatility. The new Superocean perfectly balances the nostalgia of its heritage while making fresh new waves.

— SPORT — SPORTS WATCHES HAVE BECOME THE MUST-HAVE TIMEKEEPERS OF THE DECADE. TIMEPIECES WITH STEEL CASES AND BRACELETS ARE HOT RIGHT NOW, SOME MODELS EVEN OUTPRICING SOLID GOLD WATCHES ON THE PRE-OWNED MARKET. OVER THE PAST DECADE, WATCH COMPANIES HAVE MADE MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS TO CASE, BRACELET, AND MOVEMENT MATERIALS, RESULTING IN BETTER ACCURACY AND DURABILITY AND ULTRA-HIGH PERFORMANCE. SPORTS WATCHES ARE F1 RACE CARS FOR THE WRIST!

55 FINK’S JEWELERS

— DRESS — NOT EVERYTHING ON THE WRIST HAS TO BE MADE FROM SPACE-AGE MATERIALS OR DESIGNED TO HELP YOU SWIM TO THE DEPTHS OF THE OCEANS. STYLISH DRESS-FOR- SUCCESS WATCHES ARE MAKING A COMEBACK, INCLUDING A RETURN TO GOLD – INCLUDING YELLOW GOLD. WITH THE CURRENT CRAZE FOR VINTAGE AESTHETICS, WRISTWATCHES ARE SLEEK, ULTRA-SLIM, AND PARED DOWN TO MINIMALIST TIME-ONLY PERFECTION.

FOR MEN The dial of the Grand Seiko White Birch

SLGA009 is elegantly grooved to represent the trees of the white birch forest that surrounds the watchmaking studio in Shinshu, Japan.

FOR LADIES The iconic Cartier Tank instantly conveys something about you: that you have style and taste. With its signature Roman numerals, railroad minutes track, blued hands and flat vertical brancards on the case side, it is one of the world’s most recognizable watches.

56 FINK’S JEWELERS

The Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43, originally launched in 1952, is now modernized with a more refined slide rule, and a state-of-the-art chronograph movement with a 70-hour power reserve. It has been a pilots’ favorite for nearly 70 years.

— COMPLICATIONS — TRUE TIMEPIECE CONNOISSEURS ARE HAPPIEST WHEN THEY ARE WEARING A WATCH WITH A COMPLICATION — SOMETHING THAT GOES BEYOND HOURS, MINUTES, AND SECONDS, SOMETHING THAT CAN TRACK MOON PHASES, A SECOND TIME ZONE, LEAP YEARS, OR THE DAY OF THE WEEK. THESE ARE THE WATCHES THAT GREAT COLLECTIONS ARE MADE OF.

Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope is a triple threat: it’s a telemeter, a tachometer and pulsometer in one. The multi-function colimaçon (snail-shaped) track on the dial is typical of Omega chronographs from the 1940s. It contains the hand-wound co-axial caliber 9908, with a 60-hour power reserve.

TAG H EUER AQUARACER SOLARGRAPH The AQUARACER PROFESSIONAL 200 SOLARGRAPH is, as its name suggests, driven by light. As the brand’s first solar-powered watch, it’s not only good for the environment, it means you’ll never have to change the battery. The blue green dial, colored to represent the aura borealis — the greatest light show on earth — is partially transparent to let in the sun to power the movement. Two minutes in full sunlight will keep it running for a whole day.

Fully charged — after less than 20 hours in the sun — it can run for six months. Put it in PowerSave mode and the power reserve can be extended

to 3.5 years! The extreme sports watch, first introduced in 1978, is water resistant to 200 meters, with a bezel, dial, and hands that light up in the dark to keep you safe on deep dives or during night workouts.

A s the capital and geographical center of our state, Raleigh is a bustling and lively city Fink’s Jewelers is proud to be a part of. Fink’s was drawn to the growth within the Raleigh area more than 20 years ago, when they opened their first store in Crab Tree Valley Mall. The city’s wide appeal

Raleigh is also a major hub for college students. Home to North Carolina State University and two famously historically black colleges: Shaw University and Saint Augustine’s University, Raleigh claims a point of Research Triangle Park. Duke University and the University of North Carolina complete the triangle, and together, all three campuses produce world leaders in academia, business, and government. Like every city where Fink’s has a store, the company strives to engage and actively support the needs of Raleigh’s community, especially non-profit causes. A favorite organization for store manager Neil Lagarde is the beneficiary of Summer Salute and the Rotary Club, of which he has been a very active member for many years. “Summer Salute is a great event each May

beloved by tourists and residents alike. As the landscape grows and changes, so do the neighborhoods, which can mean only one thing — Revamped and revitalized districts. The man largely responsible for much of the city’s redevelopment is John Kane, CEO of Kane Realty Corporation. “We are place creators and believe in recycling existing areas and recreating them for tomorrow,” Kane said. Fink’s has a front-row seat to all things new at North Hills, A $2 billion to-date (with more to come) project that started in 2000. When complete, The North Hills Innovation District will be a mixed-use Raleigh neighborhood featuring 700,000 square feet of new office spaces, four new residential towers, a two-story food hall and event space, and 4 acres of natural space. The goal?

If the vision isn’t intriguing enough, Kane and his partners are making conscious efforts to create these stunning living environments through sustainable measures. While some buildings and structures aren’t being recycled, new materials are being ethically sourced. Inside, the use of energy-efficient lighting, appliances, and smart thermostats further advance the commitment to eco-friendly operations. John Kane and the vision he has for Raleigh is truly inspirational. At Fink’s, we love to serve John as a valued client. “I’ve known Marc Fink for 30 years; I think the world of the family,” John says.
