41.5 mm New York Harbor Limited Edition by Oris.

ORIS Oris

recently announced its support for the Billion Oyster Project, a non-profit organization working to restore New York Harbor’s once vibrant oyster population. The goal is to restore one billion oysters to the city’s waterways by the year 2035. An adult oyster can filter as much as 50 gallons of water a day and help create ecosystems for other marine life. Oris’s other affiliations include supporting a wind energy project called Wind of Change, the Coral Restoration Foundation, and Plastic Bank, which collects plastic from waterways.

BREITLING Breitling joins the action on the surfing side as a supporter of Outerknown, a company owned by surf champion and Breitling ambassador, Kelly Slater, which makes sustainable clothing. Outerknown (surfer slang for the other, unseen side of the wave) makes over 90 percent of its products from organic, recycled, or regenerated materials. Breitling also supports the Solar Impulse Foundation, which promotes products and processes that protect the environment. “Protecting the environment doesn’t have to be boring,” insists the program’s founder, Bertrand Piccard. “My goal is to change the narrative that assumes protecting the environment is boring, expensive, and sacrificial. I want to show that it can be exactly the opposite. It can be exciting, it can be profitable, it can create jobs and become the core of economic development.”
