Brown & Co. Magazine Holiday 2021

Indeed, Hollywood’s annual awards season currently attracts an abundance of timepiece action. The Academy Awards are an especially hot ticket, from Timothée Chalamet sporting Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Tribute Duo in pink gold to Leslie Odom, Jr., in Omega’s 41 mm Constellation Gents in yellow gold. At the 2020 ceremony, Oscar Isaac also chose Omega — the limited-edition Speedmaster Apollo that honors the 50th anniversary of the legendary Moonwatch. Dan Levy, meanwhile, wore Cartier timepieces throughout the 2021 season, starting with a Santos de Cartier in stainless steel at the Golden Globes, then opting for the XL model of the Cartier Tank Solo in rose gold and steel at April’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Many watch brands have solidified their Hollywood relationships by enlisting stars as global ambassadors, a growing trend in recent years. IWC has recruited Bradley Cooper, James Marsden, Rosamund Pike and Tom Brady as ambassadors who have appeared at major watch events with clients. At a 2019 black-tie party in Geneva, Marsden paired a burgundy Eidos tuxedo with the camouflage colors of IWC’s Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun- edition Mojave Desert, noting, “You want to be in harmony with what you’re wearing, but we’re also in a moment in which there are no rules in fashion, period. As bizarre and as mismatched as you can get, that’s what people are doing.”
