Following in his father’s footsteps, Evan Yurman, president of the family business, puts his own contemporary spin on classic jewelry pieces. His interest in art, architecture, and antiquities inform his distinctive designs: ancient coins and stone carvings inspired the Petrvs collection featuring carved horses and lions on rings and medallions; early prayer beads led to the symbolic Spiritual Bead bracelets and necklaces; and Japanese wood block prints and Samurai swords were the impetus for the artistic Wave motif pendants and rings. Working in the company’s Tribeca design studio, the 41-year-old is continually tinkering with unconventional materials, such as titanium, carbon, and meteorite, to forge innovative and masculine jewelry with a cool factor.
Yurman’s newest designs deliver his signature strong and refined aesthetic with talismanic symbols. The Duality collection plays with the idea of opposing forces combined to create harmony and balance. An example is a two-sided gold disc set in rings and medallions with a hand-carved tree of life on one side and a skull on the reverse. The company has elevated the bead bracelet with sleek matte black onyx beads interspersed with carved matte gold beads or pavé diamond beads. There’s also ultra-luxe limited-edition faceted black diamond bead bracelets and necklaces and rare jade bead styles. Everyone’s favorite Yurman chain link bracelet is updated with new bold geometric links and black diamonds.
