T he Palazzo Ducale in San Marco Square in Venice has one of the most recognizable facades in the world, famous for its long rows of quatrefoils and rosettes carved above the loggia or terraces that face the piazza. This ageless, iconic work of architecture was the inspiration behind Roberto Coin’s VENETIAN PRINCESS and PRINCESS FLOWER collections. The prevailing motif is a stylized quatrefoil, composed of four petals that are perfectly marquise-shaped, rather than round. This unique floral shape is the central feature in all the pendants, rings, earrings, and bracelets in the collection, as timeless as the Palazzo Ducale. “Venice represents a short voyage for me, where beauty, arts, and in particular architecture express themselves at their best,” says Roberto Coin. In this year’s collection, he interprets the design with an eye to freshness of spring! The flower shapes in the new pendants and rings are made of anodized titanium, carved in the shape of the iconic quatrefoil, and then set with diamonds and bordered with twisted gold wire, for a fresh, leafy take on the classic shape.
