VIRGINIA BEACH SO MUCH TO LOVE
I n 1968, a young advertising copywriter from Martin & Woltz in Richmond, Virginia, coined the slogan: “Virginia is for history lovers.” He was referring to the state’s rich heritage as the sight of the first permanent English settlement in America. The phrase was meant to be adapted, as in “Virginia is for beach lovers,” or “Virginia is for mountain lovers,” so that it could be applied to any of the variety of things there are to love about the state. In the end, it was shortened to “Virginia is for lovers,” and the phrase stuck. Of all the great cities in the state, Virginia Beach is perhaps
the best representation of all that it has to offer. From natural attractions like First Landing State Park to the bustling town center and of course, the spotless beaches, this thriving coastal city has it all. Virginia Beach is a lively, livable city, with a reputation as one of the happiest communities in the country. There are parks, museums, hiking trails, historical sites, a flourishing culinary scene, and that famous stretch of sandy beach with its three-mile boardwalk.
