BRIAN FAULKNER GET TO KNOW THE FINK’S JEWELERS FAMILY

Brian Faulkner , Store Manager Fink’s Jewelers Durham, NC (919) 281-8407 • Brian.Faulkner@finks.com

B rian Faulkner was recently promoted to the Store Manager position at the Fink’s Jewelers in Durham, NC, after completing our Management Training Program. With a strong background in customer experience and service, Brian’s skills complement the customer-and family-centric culture here at Fink’s. We are excited to see him grow with the company in this new role! Brian says, “Prior to working at Fink’s Jewelers, I worked at the Porsche dealership in Richmond, VA. There, I was the Customer Experience Manager, where my role was to ensure that all customers had an amazing experience (sales and service). I also had the pleasure of being a customer of Fink’s for nearly 15 years before I was recruited to join the team.” CLIENT TURNED MANAGER Vicki Robinson and I worked on my wife’s engagement ring together for about six months. The day after my honeymoon, she called me and said, “We need to have a chat.” One thing led to another, and in June of last year, I joined the sales team at the Short Pump Town Center location in Richmond. A LEADER FROM THE START Right away, I was put into the Management Training Program. I think my background in customer relations and experience had a lot to do with that. I knew management was the goal, but I didn’t

think it would happen so quickly. I started the program on my first day and have served as the Store Manager of the Streets of Southpoint in Durham since May. LEARNING A NEW INDUSTRY Managing a strong team and making sure customers have a great experience comes very naturally to me. At Fink’s, I’m surrounded by true experts, seasoned in the industry and full of knowledge. I can say that being a part of Fink’s is a lot more exciting and light-hearted. Here, you get to be a part of big celebrations and see families at nearly every stage of life. It’s a humbling and exciting experience. We really stress that family-owned, family-centric atmosphere here!

NO ONE REALLY KNOWS… I played professional soccer (fútbol) in Spain from 2012-2013 for Yeclano

Deportivo in Yecla. It was right after I finished my graduate studies in Iowa, and a friend of mine got me a tryout. If it weren’t for the European Economic Crash of 2012, I would have stayed on and played a lot longer. But the club had to let go of its highest-paid players, its lowest-paid players, and any foreign players at that time. Unfortunately, I checked two of those boxes.

JEANETTE KEITH GET TO KNOW THE FINK’S JEWELERS FAMILY

J eanette Keith is one of the newest members of Fink’s Jewelers. Coming on as the Store Manager of our brand new location in Franklin, TN, Jeanette brings with her more than 25 years of jewelry and leadership experience. She, along with her family, moved from Cincinnati, OH, to Franklin at the start of July 2023, and she has been busy preparing a new team of Fink’s associates since.

Jeanette Keith , Store Manager Fink’s Jewelers Franklin, TN (615) 236-8176 • Jeanette.Keith@finks.com

A UNIQUE BACKGROUND I was born and raised in Aruba. My professional experience over the years is in the U.S. and the Caribbean. I was Director of Sales and Operations for Little Switzerland in the Caribbean. I managed multiple stores in a fast-paced environment across multiple islands. Then we moved to Ohio in 2018, which is something we enjoyed as we were back in my husband’s home state. This is where I worked for another independent luxury jeweler. EXCITED TO BE IN FRANKLIN Once I came on board with Fink’s Jewelers, everything moved quickly. My family and I officially moved to Tennessee the first week of July. I can tell there is a lot to do and see here in Tennessee. We’ve already been to Broadway in Nashville and loved all the live music and restaurants. We have also visited wonderful waterfalls and parks nearby, and I’m looking forward to exploring more.

LEADING A NEW TEAM To me, being a leader means treating people with respect and leading by example. I’m a hands-on leader, and I don’t ask my staff to do something I’m not willing to do. I like to work as a team and have fun in the process while we all work hard. I’m a natural motivator and like to see people reach their maximum potential. I’m looking forward to building and leading a team full of personality and spirit in a brandnew store. SOME FUN THINGS ABOUT ME We are a family of five. I speak four languages: Dutch, English, Spanish, and Papiamento, which is the language widely spoken where I’m from. I have a knowledge of Portuguese and French, as well. I am also a certified scuba diver, and I used to be a body fitness competitor and champion. We do plan to visit the Netherlands soon, where my oldest daughter is studying psychology. We are animal lovers, and we have four dogs and two cats.

OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA 40 mm, Oystersteel, white lacquer dial, Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic with moulded tachymetric scale, Oyster bracelet, calibre 4131.

OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA

THE TRIUMPH OF ENDURANCE Launched in 1963, the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona has long since transcended its status in the world of watchmaking to become an icon. Its name, inextricably linked with the famous circuit at Daytona Beach, Florida, embodies the ties between Rolex and motor sport, in particular, the world’s greatest endurance races. Its legendary status owes much to its instantly recognizable dial with contrasting circles. Continually perfected and enhanced over the years, the Cosmograph Daytona is the reliable and precise companion of those who choose to forge their own path.

SAND AND SPEED The Cosmograph Daytona pays tribute to the famous Florida beach where racing flourished in the early 20th century.

OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA 40 mm, 18 ct yellow gold, golden dial with bright black counters, Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic with moulded tachymetric scale, Oysterflex bracelet, calibre 4131.

OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA

A LEGENDARY DESIGN Bezel, minute track and three counters: this characteristic five-circle iconography is emblematic of the Cosmograph Daytona. Over time, the design of the dials, the color combinations and the architecture of the cases have been regularly reworked to reaffirm the elegance of the model. A key part of the Cosmograph Daytona’s identity, the tachymetric scale is located on the bezel of the watch. It allows average speeds of up to 400 kilometres or miles per hour to be determined via a central sweep seconds hand. On the versions with a Cerachrom bezel in ceramic, this graduation is molded directly into the ceramic. On the new Cosmograph Daytona, the Cerachrom bezel features edging crafted from the same metal as the case, a demonstration of redesigned aesthetics.

PERPETUAL CALIBRE 4131 From 2023, the Cosmograph Daytona is equipped with calibre 4131. This new chronograph movement incorporates the Chronergy escapement and features a cut-out oscillating weight as well as new finishes.

CALIBRE 4131: THE MOST SUPERLATIVE CHRONOGRAPH MOVEMENT The Cosmograph Daytona is equipped with calibre 4131. This new chronograph movement, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, is an evolution of calibre 4130. Unveiled in 2023, it incorporates a number of the major innovations that Rolex has brought to its movements, including the Chronergy escapement to reduce energy loss (among other advantages), Paraflex shock absorbers to protect the heart of the movement, and an optimized ball bearing to enhance self-winding. This calibre features a new aesthetic for the brand: a cut-out oscillating weight and, on the bridges, an exclusive Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration — a reinterpretation of an iconic finishing in traditional Swiss watchmaking. On the version in 950 platinum, recognizable by its ice blue dial, the oscillating weight is made from 18k yellow gold and is visible to the wearer through the transparent case back in sapphire. OYSTERFLEX BRACELET: ALL-ROUND COMFORT In addition to the Oyster bracelet, the 18k gold versions of the Cosmograph Daytona featuring a Cerachrom bezel are also available with an Oysterflex bracelet. Developed by Rolex and patented, it singularly combines the robustness of a metal bracelet with the comfort of an elastomer bracelet. It is composed of two flexible curved metal blades — one in each bracelet section — overmoulded with high- performance black elastomer. For optimum wearer comfort, the Oysterflex bracelet is equipped with cushions on its inner sides and an Oysterlock safety clasp to prevent accidental opening. Its length may be adjusted via the ingenious Rolex Glidelock extension system.

BREAKING AWAY FROM CONVENTION Since its launch, the Cosmograph Daytona has been the watch of choice for motor sport enthusiasts. Like Paul Newman, the legendary actor, experienced racing driver and pioneering social entrepreneur, Sir Jackie Stewart, an emblematic figure of Formula 1 ® , Tom Kristensen, the Danish racing driver who made endurance racing history, and Jamie Chadwick, the young British racing driver who has become the new women’s reference for single-seaters, many have adopted the chronograph in their everyday lives beyond the racetrack.

Paul Newman American actor Paul Newman was also a gifted racing driver and a pioneering social entrepreneur. He came to motor racing late in life, alongside his acting career. At 70, he won in his class at the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA becoming the oldest driver to win in a major sanctioned race. As a symbol of his passion for motor sport, a watch always accompanied him at the racing circuits: a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, the drivers’ watch par excellence.

JAMIE CHADWICK Jamie Chadwick was not yet 16 when she won the Silverstone 24 Hour in 2015. The win helped make her the first female champion of the British GT Championship, as well as the youngest winner of this series. Three years later, on the Brands Hatch circuit, the young three-time winner of the W Series, the women’s Formula 3 championship, is a test driver for the Williams Racing team in Formula 1 ® . She has been a Rolex Testimonee since 2022. Englishwoman secured the first female victory in British F3. The

METRO-CHIC DAVID YURMAN’S NEW JEWELRY CONVEYS DOWNTOWN NEW YORK’S LIVELY ARTISTIC ENERGY

D avid Yurman is constantly sketching new jewelry designs, sometimes on a napkin at a café and other times at his desk or the kitchen table. Those drawings were the starting point for the brand’s stylish new Mercer collection, which was inspired by downtown New York’s bustling rhythm and artistic energy and named for the street in SoHo. For the Yurman family, every jewelry collection is a personal expression. The Mercer collection pays homage to David and his wife Sybil’s downtown roots. In SoHo, they began their careers as artists: back in the 1960s and 1970s, they were among the neighborhood’s early residents — David’s first studio was on Sullivan Street and Sybil worked at the Max Hutchinson Gallery on Greene Street. Their son Evan, the company’s president, grew up on the streets of SoHo and along the Tribeca waterfront. “There was something carefree but still endearingly grave about the work that came from there then,” said Evan about the downtown artistic vibe. “The work ignored the old boundaries separating art from dance from music from architecture, and instead found fresh ground in the interstices between art and life.” The neighborhood’s dynamic energy fueled the family’s lasting passion for art, design and craft, and breaking boundaries.

Evan Yurman

DESIGN IS A FAMILY AFFAIR Each member of the family has creative input on every new collection. That family spirit caught the attention of actress Scarlett Johansson, another native New Yorker and the brand’s ambassador. “What’s really touching about the David Yurman story is this familial love and passion,” said Johansson. Recently, she layered on different jewelry pieces, which Sybil pointed out were each designed by one of the Yurmans. “Sybil was so excited to see the pieces all together,” she said. “The pieces are very much like a family, just this mesh of beautiful things that is different but goes together.” Johansson grew up seeing David Yurman’s advertising campaigns and jewelry around New York City, which shaped her own jewelry style. “You would always see the beautiful black and white photos and it was this effortlessly chic woman whose jewelry was part of her everyday life. She had this glamorous appeal but was never trying.”

Scarlett Johansson

26 FINK’S JEWELERS MAGAZINE

The Mercer collection is an evolution of that effortlessly elegant Yurman style. It began with David’s drawing of a reimagined oval link in a more sculptural, sensual shape. That link was forged in 18k yellow and rose gold and burnished silver and combined with the company’s iconic Cable motif and diamonds. The lively spirit of downtown New York is expressed in the curated mix of metal, proportion, and shiny and matte finishes. “Over the decades, our linked chains have become iconic, and so emblematic of the brand,” said Evan. “It’s really a part of our foundation as a company, but also as a family. One of the first things my dad sculpted for my mom was a direct- welded necklace.” The Mercer’s oval links also

carved in wax by one of the company’s in-house master craftsmen, handmade and hand-finished like a piece of sculpture. “You can feel in the pieces that they are handcrafted and cared about, and it feels very personal,” said Johansson. “It’s not something that’s mass manufactured.” That attention to detail and individualistic quality is embodied in the Mercer Mélange bracelet, which combines 18k rose gold and burnished silver oval links with smaller Cable links, a Cognac diamond link, and toggle closure with white diamond detail. Designs also come in elegant yet bold 18k yellow gold and diamond choker length necklaces, drop earrings, and multi-row rings. It’s instantly recognizable as David Yurman and seamlessly integrates with past collections. “Each piece has real intention to it and spirit about it and is made with a lot of love,” said Johansson. “You feel that from the brand, and it’s really authentic.”

HEALTHY CHOICES

LOOKING GOOD TEN ANTI-AGING SUPER FOOD CHOICES

AVOCADOS

One of the keys to looking young is maintaining healthy, youthful-looking skin. Avocados are high in vitamins A and B — both of which help nourish and moisturize your skin, giving you a younger appearance.

Did you know that the foods you eat (along with genetics) play a big role in how gracefully you age? For example, diets that are high in sugar and fat content will actually make you age faster. Luckily, there are several superfoods that offer important anti-aging benefits that can make you look and feel younger.

You can eat avocados as a delicious snack by themselves or as a topping on sandwiches. Of course, they can be used to make a great dipping sauce too. BLUEBERRIES The more your skin is exposed to the sun, the more likely it will have damage. However, you can reduce skin damage from sun exposure by consuming antioxidants. Blueberries contain more antioxidants than nearly any other kind of fruit. Furthermore, they are high in vitamin C, which can improve the firmness of your skin, reduce wrinkles, and repair damaged skin cells. You should eat a one-half cup of blueberries each day to get the proper amount of antioxidants. DARK CHOCOLATE Dark chocolate actually offers some major anti-aging benefits. For example, it contains an ingredient known as flavonoids, which promote better circulation and blood flow to the skin. Flavonoids also protect your skin from the damaging effects of sun exposure by absorbing UV rays. Furthermore, eating dark chocolate in moderation can help you reduce your sugar cravings. Remember, sugar is not your friend when it comes to looking and feeling young. KALE Kale is an excellent source of phytonutrients that can repair damaged skin cells from sun exposure, as well as antioxidants that will help your body feel healthier and age better. It’s also a good source of chlorophyll, a super nutrient that will block the harmful effects of many cancer-causing chemicals. Furthermore, the nutrients found in kale can help make you look more youthful by firming up loose skin and reducing wrinkles.

36 FINK’S JEWELERS MAGAZINE

PAPAYA Another key to making your skin look youthful and happy is boosting its elasticity. Papaya contains many important vitamins and minerals — including lots of antioxidants — that are key to making your skin smoother and firmer. For instance, it contains high amounts of vitamins A, C, E, and K, as well as potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium. However, to find papaya, you will likely have to visit a health foods or natural grocery store.

beta-carotene. If you are a salad eater, spinach is actually much healthier to use in your salads than romaine or iceberg lettuce. Furthermore, it makes a good topping for pizzas and sandwiches.

WATERCRESS Promoting the circulation and delivery of key nutrients throughout your body is one of the best defenses against aging. That’s because it improves the oxygenation of the skin, making it healthier and firmer. Watercress is a vegetable that’s known to increase circulation throughout the body. Watercress is a popular ingredient in salads. Unfortunately, it’s harder to find in grocery stores than more well-known vegetables like kale and spinach. Therefore, you will likely have to visit a natural grocer or specialty health store to find it. SESAME SEEDS Calcium is necessary to maintain healthy, strong bones and teeth. In addition to dairy products, sesame seeds are high in calcium content. Furthermore, sesame seeds contain high amounts of other important minerals that promote healthy bone growth, for example, fiber, iron, and magnesium. Many people munch on sesame seeds in bar form as a tasty, healthy snack. However, they make a great topping on salads too. In short, if you want to age gracefully and maintain a youthful appearance, you need to eat a healthy diet that contains the key vitamins and nutrients to help you look and feel younger, longer. Replace the unhealthy foods from your diet with these superfoods to promote better health, wellness, and youthfulness. Not only will doing so help you look younger, but it can help you live longer as well.

PINEAPPLES

You can also boost the strength and elasticity of your skin by eating pineapples. Pineapples contain a key nutrient that helps produce collagen by activating the prolidase enzyme. Collagen is what makes your skin stronger and look younger. POMEGRANATE Pomegranate is one of the most powerful

anti-aging superfoods that help make your skin look and feel younger. In fact, many people use it as an ingredient for their health shakes and smoothies.

Pomegranate is rich in ellagic acid and punicalagin. Ellagic acid can help repair damaged skin cells. Punicalagin is another nutrient that can boost the production of collagen. (Remember, collagen makes your skin stronger and look more youthful.) You can buy pomegranate juice to drink, as well as seeds to use in salads and other meals. SPINACH If you have noticed a theme when it comes to anti- aging, it’s keeping your skin healthy and smooth. Spinach is another superfood that can help promote the health and youthfulness of your skin because it contains high amounts of

By passing on this old-world technique to the next generation, Marco Bicego is enshrining its heritage and influencing jewelry-making for decades. “The importance of learning and mastering a craft seems to be a recommendation from the past,” says Marco Bicego, founder and creative director of the eponymous brand. “Instead, it is very current, and it can be prestigious.”

“We have launched this academy to enhance the quality of our work and make our territory attractive again,” he says. “It is part of our mission to preserve and elevate historical savoir-faire, supporting the bond with our local community and the territory where our goldsmith tradition originates.”

From backgrounds diverse in experience and expertise, every artisan to attend the academy embarks on a transformative journey, mastering old-world techniques. One of those techniques is burin engraving, an exquisite distinctive handcrafted process synonymous with the brand’s heritage. Relying on an ancient tool, the burin engraving technique dates back to the 15th century, with Maso Finiguerra being one of the first notable Italian goldsmiths to utilize the process. With quick, meticulous motions, artisans scratch into gold, leaving behind fine lines that produce a smooth yet captivating brushed texture. More than 5,000 hand movements go into each design, and no two pieces are alike. That makes each necklace, earring, and ring one-of-a-kind. Bicego is revered for his ability to fuse ancient traditions with contemporary creativity. He has developed this signature style that resonates with women seeking refined yet unconventional luxury for their everyday lives. His designs draw inspiration from the organic shapes found in nature, the allure of 18k yellow gold, and the captivating radiance of precious gemstones.

Present in more than 50 countries worldwide, Marco Bicego has become one of the world’s most prestigious jewelry brands. Now, as the company embarks on this remarkable journey to nurture a new generation of master artisans, the brand reaffirms its commitment to excellence, innovation, and the preservation of time- honored craftsmanship.

SHIMMERING SENSATIONS

luxuriously YELLOW

YELLOW GOLD IS NATURAL, UNDERSTATED, AND SEDUCTIVE

Y ellow gold has confidently stolen the throne that white gold and sterling silver held for the past two decades. Yellow gold was everywhere in the eighties, but when it returned to the fashion scene a few years ago, styles were much more refined and modern. Looks range from bold link necklaces to delicate fringe. Sprinkles of pavé-set diamonds make yellow gold sparkle and shine with your every step. Bonus — karat gold holds its value over time and can be melted down and used to make new jewelry as styles change, making it a beautiful investment as well.

LIGHT + LIVELY

Whimsy a bit of T here is a time and place for every jewelry application. On the red carpet, a big bold statement piece does the job. But everyday casual dressing presents a perfect opportunity to have some fun with smaller, more playful forms of adornment. From cheery charm pendants and jingly stacks of bracelets to pretty rows of freshwater pearls, there are times when jewelry should just make you smile. Unlike more serious pieces of jewelry, which tend to stand alone, it’s important to curate a collection of smaller jewels that you can work with to add versatility and options to your daily accessorizing. They can be mixed and matched to suit your daily mood, layered for big looks and worn alone for days when a single simple accessory will do. Here are a few ideas for whimsical pieces of jewelry that are perfect for casual day dressing or make great gift ideas for the special girls in your life.

The bracelet is a powerful accessory that runs the gamut from superwoman cuff styles to stacks of jingly bangles mixed with pretty little line bracelets. We love these picks for the season. Marco Bicego Masai Diamond Bracelet, $9,940. The Roberto Coin Three Station Diamond Bracelet, $1,290, and the Ippolita Rock Candy Alpine Bracelet, $3,495.

Pearls are the accessory of the century, but they don’t need to be big strands. Smaller pearl station bracelets or drops of natural pearls from the ears add a pretty touch without the fuss. Mikimoto Akoya Pearls are both beautiful and we find these styles particularly playful. The dangle earrings, $4,300, move with your every step. The ring, $1,500, can be worn alone or stacked with a diamond band and this station necklace, $8,200, has the added sparkle of diamonds.

Earrings can convey so many different looks. Multiple piercings, especially, can go from edgy to artful. Finish the look with a daring, gemset hoop. Favorites from our Sabel Collection are these small hoop earrings for only $1,150, and these yellow gold drop diamond cluster earrings, $1,500..

VINTAGE APPEAL

SOME STYLES ARE NATURALLY TIMELESS FOR A REASON

J ewelry, by nature, is nostalgic. Often gifted from one to another with love and celebration, certain pieces of jewelry are particularly special due to the memories they hold. These are the treasures passed down from generation to generation. Our affinity for the looks and stylings of days gone by is also often expressed by a love of antique furniture, fine china, silver dinnerware and other “jewels” of the home. We often connect with the styling of a given era that appeals to us on a personal level — something heart-felt. When it comes to timepieces, vintage styling was clean, simple, and smaller in size. Today, watchmakers are reviving those looks, but in new materials and often with new technologies. For jewelry, you’ll notice features like coin-edging and sculpted shapes. Combinations of diamonds with gemstones in beautifully timeless motifs are popular choices, due to their classic feminine styling. What’s old is new again — vintage styling crafted with quality precious metals and radiant gemstones. Come see all that we have in store for you.

TIME FOR STYLE A LITTLE BIT OF COLOR ADDS A LOT OF IMPACT

Green remains the hottest color in luxury watches for the second year running. Green

dials and accents look beautiful in either steel or gold cases, so it’s no surprise that it has gone mainstream in luxury watches. It has long been the color that represents ecology and the environment. It is the color of green

spaces, spring, regeneration, and fertility. There are more shades of green than any other color, and it seems they are all represented on watches this year.

JAPANESE DELICACY

SUSHI SENSATIONS A CULINARY JOURNEY INTO JAPAN’S IRRESISTIBLE DELICACY!

A re you ready to embark on a delightful adventure through the tantalizing world of sushi? This iconic Japanese cuisine has captured the hearts and taste buds of food enthusiasts worldwide. With its unique blend of flavors, textures, and artistry, sushi has become more than just a meal — it’s a sensorial experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Our journey begins centuries ago in the coastal regions of Japan. Sushi’s roots can be traced back to a simple method of preserving fish by packing it in rice, allowing fermentation to take place. Over time, this preservation technique evolved and the fermented rice was discarded, leading to the birth of the modern sushi we know and love today.

One of the aspects that makes sushi a versatile culinary delight is the choice between raw and cooked options. If you’re unsure about raw fish, don’t worry, there are plenty of cooked alternatives that offer equally gratifying taste experiences. But if you’re feeling adventurous, give raw fish a chance! Behind every incredible sushi dish is a master sushi chef, or itamae, who has devoted years to honing their craft. An itamae takes great care in selecting the freshest fish to ensure it’s safe and delicious to eat. Start with milder options like salmon or tuna and you might discover a whole new world of flavors!

NIGIRI, MAKI, AND BEYOND: UNRAVELING THE SUSHI VARIETIES Sushi comes in a delightful array of forms, each offering a distinct experience. Nigiri sushi, the most classic variety, consists of a small ball of vinegared rice topped with a slice of fish or other delectable ingredients. Maki rolls, on the other hand, are rice and fillings wrapped in seaweed and cut into bite-sized pieces — a playful way to enjoy sushi with endless creative combinations. For the purists seeking unadulterated seafood pleasure, sashimi is the way to go. No rice, just pristine slices of raw fish, allowing the natural flavors to shine. Remember, sashimi is best enjoyed when dipped lightly into soy sauce with a touch of wasabi, allowing the natural flavors to take center stage. BEYOND TRADITION: FUSION SUSHI AND UNIQUE CREATIONS Innovative chefs around the world have embraced sushi as a canvas for culinary experimentation. The rise of fusion sushi has brought exciting blends of flavors and cultural influences to the table. Imagine a spicy tuna roll with a hint of Mexican flair, or a decadent dessert sushi, featuring sweet fillings and drizzled with chocolate. These daring creations challenge tradition while celebrating the essence of sushi — a delightful celebration of taste and imagination. SAKE SYMBIOSIS: THE PERFECT SUSHI PAIRING No sushi feast is complete without a perfect beverage companion. Enter sake, Japan’s iconic rice wine. With its smooth and subtle flavors, sake complements the delicate nuances of sushi like no other. From dry and crisp options to aromatic and fruity varieties, sake adds an extra layer of joy to your culinary journey. So, don’t forget to raise your glass and say “Kanpai!” (cheers) before diving into your sushi indulgence. SUSHI SENSATIONS GO VEGAN For our plant-based foodies, worry not — sushi has embraced the vegan movement too! Vegan sushi options are flourishing, with creative fillings like avocado, cucumber, mango, and tempura sweet potato. These colorful and flavorful rolls are a testament to the ever- evolving nature of sushi, embracing inclusivity and appealing to a diverse audience. Sushi isn’t just a meal; it’s an orchestra of flavors and textures, a celebration of tradition and innovation, and a journey into the heart of Japan’s rich culinary heritage. So whether you’re a seasoned sushi connoisseur or a first-time adventurer, the sushi sensations await! Kanpai to sushi adventures!

SUSHI ETIQUETTE: UNWRITTEN RULES OF THE SUSHI BAR Before you embark on your sushi adventure, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with some unwritten rules of sushi etiquette. For instance, did you know that it’s customary to eat nigiri with your fingers instead of chopsticks? Or that dunking your sushi rice-side down into soy sauce is considered a faux pas? By respecting these customs, you not only show appreciation for the artistry but also enhance your overall dining experience.

SANTOS DE CARTIER ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST VERSATILE WATCH DESIGNS SHOWS ITS CREATIVE SIDE an enduring classic

T he Cartier Santos is one of the great classics of watch design, always appropriate for any occasion. It is also highly adaptable to various design interpretations, which is the great genius of Cartier’s watch collections. The Santos was famously created in 1904 — which makes it one of the earliest wristwatches on record — by Louis Cartier for his friend, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. Santos didn’t want to have to dig for a pocket watch to navigate his flight legs, so he asked Louis to create a strap model. Since then, the Santos has evolved to become one of Cartier’s most beloved models, as much a signature of the brand as the Tank and the Panther. There have been many modern iterations since it made its first appearance more than a century ago, but the essential rounded square case, Roman numerals, and eight exposed screws on the bezel have endured. Here are some modern versions that we love, with state-of-the- art movements, materials, and design variations.

SANTOS DE CARTIER SKELETON Skeletonizing a movement involves cutting away a portion of the dial, plate, and bridges so that only the bare essentials are left, and the movement is exposed for our viewing pleasure. Cartier’s unique version of this art form is to shape the bridges in the style of Roman numerals, a signature element of the brand. The steel bracelet is interchangeable with an alligator strap, which comes with it. It contains the manual wound caliber 9611.
