In the past decade, pearls have evolved from classic strands to contemporary treasures that are modern, wearable and versatile, thanks to designers like David Yurman, who have hit the refresh button on pearls. This spring, David’s celebrated Madison collection combines two key elements from his design vocabulary — chains and pearls. In 1981, the Cultured Pearl Associations of America and Japan named David the Designer of the Year for his innovative use of pearls. His exploration of the design potential of pearls has never waned. David has always looked at pearls in a modern
way, celebrating the exquisite forms of nature’s perfect spheres. He pioneered the layering of pearls with chains, and his new Madison designs evolve the classic chain by uniting mixed metals and select gold designs with station-set freshwater or South Sea pearls.
