CARTIER TANK SOLO
CLASSIC One of the world’s most recognizable watches, the Tank was created in 1917 to commemorate the Renault FT-17 tank that England sent into the Somme battle in 1916. the now famous case, with its side stanchions, takes its inspiration from an overhead view of the Renault armored tank, and the bracelet links were meant to mimic the tank’s treads. Many variations of the signature design have been introduced since then. The Tank Solo in steel contains a quartz movement and a classic silvered opaline dial with the model’s signature railway track index and Roman numerals.
JEWELED The Link has been a pillar of TAG Heuer’s collections since the 1980s, with its signature double row of S-shaped bracelet links instantly recognizable. And there is nothing like a sprinkle of diamonds to add new life to a classic favorite. The diamond edition of the link is set with just under a carat of perfectly matched round brilliant diamonds on the bezel and markers, against a backdrop of mother-of-pearl. The 32 mm stainless steel case and bracelet are given a fine brushed/polished finish. The movement it quartz with hours, minutes, seconds, and date function.
FUN / FASHION FORWARD The Chronomat has been in the Breitling collection since the 1980s, but this is the first model designed for women. It’s a simple design, with markers rather than numerals, and diamond bezels, and there are 10 different references. Pictured here is the automatic 36 version, with diamond setting and a copper dial, in steel and 18k red gold. It contains a Breitling-made automatic movement. Breitling launched the new Chronomat Ladies’ 36 and 32 collection last year with some help from a squad of celebrity ambassadors: actor Charlize Theron, ballerina Misty Copeland, and Chinese actor Yao Chen. The packaging is made from recycled fishing nets and can itself be recycled.
