There’s something magical and comforting about a love rooted in the deep connections and memories shared from childhood, as is the case for Brooke, 31, and Coleman, 30. The two spent their tween and teen years weaving in and out of each other’s lives. He was the boy with a quiet crush. She was the older sister of his baseball teammate. They passed in hallways, at games, and in friend groups, never once imagining they’d someday share a last name. It wasn’t until after college, when both returned to Dallas, that their story truly began. The friendship sparked first — easy, familiar, and full of laughter. And then, after a little matchmaking encouragement from Brooke’s sister and a long-awaited
moment of courage on Coleman’s part, everything changed. The crush became a relationship. The relationship became a partnership. And the love that had waited patiently for years began to bloom. Their engagement, fittingly, unfolded during a typical Saturday morning walk with their dog. Only this time, Coleman insisted on a slight detour through the neighborhood park — and couldn’t seem to keep his hand out of his pocket. Coleman says he was cool, calm, and collected, but Brooke will tell you she caught on quickly, and the proposal that followed was equal parts joyful and chaotic. She soon found herself wearing a stunning oval-cut diamond and laughing through tears.
