continues to Shinola Birdy the fly

In 2013, the city of Detroit filed for bankruptcy. Shinola, the watch and lifestyle brand that proudly calls Detroit home, decided to fight back against all the headlines that dismissed the once-prosperous city with a provocative ad campaign in the New York Times with the headline: “To Those Who Have Dismissed Detroit, We Give You The Birdy.”

Birdy Jasper ref. S0120291078 Inside the gold PVD 34 mm case is a fine porcelain jasper dial with an earthy hue that ranges from rusty red to dust pink. Fitted with a gold PVD three-link bracelet.

Not only was it a catchy way to announce the Birdy watch, Shinola’s newest ladies’ timepiece collection, it also reminded the nation that there were people who still lived, worked, and flourished in Detroit regardless of what the critics said. Over a decade later, the Birdy watch remains a mainstay of Shinola’s catalog, maintaining its recognizable round case silhouette with coin- edge detailing, an oversized winding crown, wire lugs, a slim strap, and the Argonite 775 high-frequency quartz movement hand-assembled in Detroit. Stone dials became a hallmark of the Birdy collection, starting with the Petoskey stone to pay homage to the hidden gems found along northern Michigan beaches and evolving to include other natural materials. Against the odds, the Motor City is moving forward with its comeback story. And the Shinola Birdy collection continues to fly to new heights.

Birdy Aventurine ref. S0120283779 The gold PVD 34 mm case is home to a polished aventurine stone, which shines with a lucky green glow. Fitted with a gold PVD three- link bracelet.

Birdy Mother-of-Pearl ref. S0120077932 Complementing the two-tone stainless steel and gold PVD case and bracelet is the bold white mother-of-pearl dial. Fitted with a stainless steel and gold PVD three-link bracelet.
